I remember my dad and I went to the second test day when King Richard took his laps. I remember my parents put in a ticket order but they allocated by lottery for the first year and we didn’t win. I was so disappointed. My dad and I ended up getting tickets for the 95 Brickyard and that was very memorable because it rained all day. We waited at the shuttle area near the Hoosier Dome for a few hours before we decided to head home. We were on 65 in downtown Indy listening to the race show on the radio when Mike Helton made the announcement to start engines. We turned around on N Emerson and got to our seats by lap 25.
I remember watching this back in the day, I was in the 10th grade in high school. Seeing how much the cars have changed and how they race from then to now is mind boggling
I’ve always wondered why Dick Trickle relieved Kenny Wallace in 1993 at the Bristol night race and The Southern 500 in which he scored two top 10 finishes… never seen this crash until now
everytime i watch the old races or a documentary on the nascar of epoch i have the balls, I miss that time when the cars were oldsmobil cutlass, lumina, monte carlo, buick thunderbirds (even if buick stopped in 93) and above all the paints were real paint schemes, beautifully painted and recognizable, not schemes that changed every 4 mornings. I have was always loved the circuit of Brickyeards , it's a beautiful monument with his historical story
I want NASCAR to bring back the Brickyard 400. The NextGen car has made racing on intermediate tracks better than the Gen 6 so hopefully NASCAR considers it. The road course is boring and chaotic like what we saw last season and it's time for a change.
I was 9 - we drove over from Illinois the 4 hours and camped at a family friend's house in Greenwood...it was a really cool two days...watched in turn 3 and watched on the front straightaway above the pit entrance
@@copsarepigs8269 The disaster of the 2008 Brickyard 400 is the reason why the fans lost interest. I think the fans want it back especially after the shitshow that was last season's race on the road course.
@@copsarepigs8269 Well, maybe someday we'll get to see the Next Gen car taking on the oval sometime soon. I believe that racing will be a whole lot better with this car if NASCAR gets the package right.
Yes. The pole speed was 172 MPH when they came back the next August. It was 188 MPH in 2014, which is the fastest for NASCAR ever went there, and was the year before the horsepower was cut.
That mock race was a gimmick - the drivers deliberately lifted off to make it look better than it was. Virtually every race there has been single file.
It's crazy how Indy racing has deteriorated with nascar. I wonder if there is any saving this track with nascar or if it's just time to go to IRP/Lucas Oil.
R.i.p. Real NASCAR it never be like this again I believe this gen of drivers will be the last or next to last when they go electric and street racing that be the death nail it not Formal 1 racing
Thank you very much, Brian "Drunk Ass" France for ruining everything. NASCAR was booming in popularity until you destroyed it with the "Chase For The Sprint Cup", the Playoffs, Stages, and last but not least, the yellow line rule. Thank you, Brian, for ruining NASCAR. Rant over😡
I want me an Indy Speedweeks for NASCAR in Cup: • 1st Saturday of May - IRP (Saturday, 6:30 pm ET) (350 Laps) • Mother's Day Saturday - Brickyard 300 (Saturday, 12nn ET) - Yeah The Indy Oval is now 300 miles long not 400 • A Week Later - Indy Road Course (72 Laps) (Saturday, 11:30 am ET) - Use the F1 Layout - Ran Backwards - Instead of using the Flat Out Turn 5 and 6 used by IndyCar, use the Carousel Corner - Use the Corner used by MotoGP from 2013 - 2015 instead of the 90 Degree Corner (AKA Road Course Turn 1)
Does anybody remember how Exciting this was? Does anybody else remember the first race and the week leading up to it? NASCAR doesn’t care anymore and they proved it year after year since
This is when NASCAR could do no wrong, and was just about firing on all cylinders. Love seeing these old videos.
It’s because bill jr was in charge and Brian France was sent out to the west coast to stay out of the way and out of sight and out of mind.
RIP Bob Jenkins, Benny Parsons, and John Andretti.

Kenny ended up getting relief help from Dick Trickle the next week at Bristol
I think Kenny spoke about this crash bringing him closer to Jesus
didn't know they covered the testing, glad to see it on YT
I never knew a stock car hit the pit entrance wall until now. Damn.

I wish NASCAR would give the oval another shot. With the Next Gen, it could be much better, please NASCAR bring it back, we have enough road courses.
