I just wanna say that little progress bar while you do your intro is really thoughtful. I know sometimes I get in a rush and I wanna hurry up and learn something but your intro wasn't really that long at all. Things like that are a nice little touch to a video and calm hasty people like me lol. Also I loved the way you explained flipping normals on the torus nobody has ever explained that to me. This is just an all around great tutorial video and you can tell you put a lot of thought into it, sound and music blend well and its very well done. Thanks for that.

My liquid looks like it contains particles, precisely like yours on 4:46. But then later yours become free of them already at 5:08 without any manipulations in between, but mine keeps those particles when I continue to operate with the look of the liquid. Thanks for the amazing tutorial, really helpful. I'm trying to have a more complex object to fill up but it just won't recognize it. I can make it work with any of the primitives but don't have collision as soon as I start inserting loop cuts and extrusions. Any tips?
Once I move the solidify node above the fluid my particles won't render anymore. Can anyone help me? Edit: I also re-installed blender 2.9 and the issue is still re-occuring.
@@JonathanKron I'm having the same issue as Tero, I can bake and see particles when the uv sphere is outside the taurus, but nothing appears when I place it inside after reversing the normals with the solidify modifier. weirdly, if i remove the solidify modifier, I do see the particles fall but go right through the taurus even with the correct normals.
@@easybeeee Hi, maybe your emitter is too close to the torus mesh: Try reducing the emitter size and increasing the liquid resolution. If the resolution becomes too big and baking takes a lot of time you can also do it the other way around: increase your torus. Hope this helps ^^

Hi, this shouldn't be so hard to do because you can always animate the emitter or the colliders. They don't have to be static. You can just use the setup from this video and then start keyframing. Everything should work fine.

Hi, there are some problems in newer Blender versions that cause the technique I showed in the video to not work anymore. I made an updated video which I pinned in the comment section of this video.
not sure if i've done something wrong, but when i did the search for the Quick Liquid and press enter. there was no drops of fluid. and when i click bake i still get nothing. any thoughts?
what emitter object did you use? if it's very small try a higher resolution number, if it's planar you'll have to enable the "is planar" checkbox. If this doesn't work try opening a new scene and applying quick liquid to the default cube. If it works then use it to compare it with your other scene. Hope this helps :D
once baked to mesh the liquid domain should not be visible anymore. But you can hide every object for renders and viewport in the object properties panel (under Visibility)
Rather than filling the torus from a single source, is there a way to start with it already full of a liquid? For example if instead of a torus it was a beer bottle that I wanted full of beer that when moved would animate inside the bottle?
@@JonathanKron Thanks for the suggestion. It seems to be not as well documented as far as guides/tutorials as the use of flow so I'll have to do some digging and experimentation.
@@neil78 You can also start the simulation earlier, and only render out the frames after the simulation has filled the object to the desired level... Example: Have sim "fill" from frame 1 to 100, then keyframe off the inflow. Change Render Start frame to frame 100, and animate your bottle moving around, and set end frame to 200 or whatever.
@@CDArena Thanks for the recommendation. So in that scenario, the "valve" would essentially shut off at frame 100 and the object would appear filled at that point. Then it could be animated and it would animate whatever volume of fluid is in the bottle at that point?

Trying to figure out how to make my object drain as you did with yours, working with 300 frames. I know it has something to do with the creating a geometry keyframe right?
@@JonathanKron I have a similar problem and have re baked it a couple of times. There is one slight difference though and that is that in rendered view the simulation looks really nice but when I render the frames there are a lot that don’t show the liquid at all(it does show it on the viewport in rendered, material and solid view)
@@msa2264 I don't think I can really help you there because I don't know how you structured your scene. But some ideas: Do you have any animated parameters (e.g. visibility?), are all objects that you don't want to render hidden in rendered view? And maybe try rendering your sequence in another engine (from eevee to cycles, etc) and see if the bug is still present
Fluid no longer shows up in domain after I hit "solidify" in blender 2.91.2 @2:51 if anyone can help ill copy and paste the solution to the other people that are having the same issue tried fiddling with stuff and nothing worked
@@giexgi If you don't have the bake option your bake type is maybe still set to replay. You'll have to select your domain and change the bake type to either modular or final.
You can try increasing the resolution and substeps. If this does not work then you can always use the boolean method I showed in the video. Or try flip fluids maybe they can handle this better ^^
ignoring the booleans to the mesh. Do you know why the particles escape from the container? This causes even large portions of the mesh to jump or go through the container. What parameter do I have to change so that the particles do not pass through the mesh?

pwease help. I solidified the torus, flipped it's normals, and set up all the fluid dynamics for the domain, torus, and flow object. The flow object still just sits there menacingly inside the torus... no physics.

Hi! I have a question. When I make my object solid again, the domain gets solid as well and covers my object. I don't want this tô happen, but If I click to hide my domain, the effects disappears too! What can I do?
I haven't tested this scenario but I guess if parenting doesn't work you can copy and paste location keyframes to get your flow object to move. You can then adjust the position using the delta transform options
this was a really useful tutorial but I'm disappointed that it didn't cover outflow. In your animation it looks like your fluid is draining out after filling up the object and I really needed to learn that along with the inflow.
I don't know if this is possible with Mantaflow but I've seen people archive this affect with flip fluids (you can get the addon for free if you build it from their Github)
Verry good, but I can't use "bake Mesh" because is grey and not active :/ Why ? (I use blender 2.91) when I change after DataBake the "modular" in "replay" , blender make a mix between Mesh & particles.
You'll first have to bake flip (the particles). If you've done this I'm not sure why it's grey. You could also try setting your bake type to final. This should bake everything (particles, mesh, etc.)
Go down to cache settings of the domain and check the option of "Is Resumable".then it shouldnt be greyed out and you should also be able to resume baking the data.
It seems like you have assigned the wrong materials to the wrong objects. Just select the different objects and see if the correct material is applied.
Did you bake the initial flip simulation (the "Liquid" tab)? You can also try setting the cache type to "all" and only check Liquid and Mesh and then bake both together

I followed every step up to 2:50 and when I hit bake it doesn't show any particles

Press 'F9' or expand the pop-up in the lower left corner after adding the torus.
When I add the glass material it won't show the liquid, it only shows the reflection of the world.
In Eevee you'll have to enable refraction and screen space reflections, etc. But I'd suggest you just switch to cycles

Of course, you can just model out the inside of your mesh and set the inflow type to geometry.

Hi, i been following your steps from start to end but i can't see the liquid at some frames in rendered mode and in final render.
does it show in the viewport? If not the baking might be corrupt. Maybe rebaking would help but I'm not sure

how to do it, while my torus must be hollowed out first so that it can generate liquid, if it is closed like yours nothing happens.

It does not flowing after appling solidify option. It work well out of Torus when i rejected solidify option. May i ask what i have to do?

Once you add the torus press f9 and you'll see two sliders on for the major and one for the minor radius
