I know there are a couple small hiccups in the lighting, that's an issue with the filters used in in my editing program and the playback on youtube. I just wanted this done and I can't care anymore about this.

update: mine does not have paint defects on first glance but I found some in some smaller crevices after closer inspection, his mouth paint is far better than the one in this video. it does have the same loose joints at the waist and jaw, the smoke effect on the neck doesn't attach firmly. it appears this figure is hit or miss and I got lucky. if you get a dud I suggest giving a shot at a second one if like me you didn't already have a burning.
Considering you are a monster arts expert, which figure of the line would you recommend to a beginner ?

Fantastic review as always! I was actually going to get this but after seeing pics and your unboxing I'm not picking this up. Those steam effects are not worth it for me. I'm better off using cotton for my original. I also know how you feel, I as well am heartbroken that this figure is a piece of s**t. This line is going downhill. I'm just horrified on how future figures are going to turn out if crap like this from Bandai continues.

One thing I will say is that I hate the white dorsal spines on the original Burning Godzilla figure. So I like that Bandai... tried to make it more consistent.
I think the main reason why they released this is to coincide with the repaint of the destroyah but this just came out bad

I haven't gotten mine yet so I'm kinda scared of mine having QC issues but thank you for adding humor to it, let's hope bandai doesn't go any farther down the neca path.

godzilla 154 I don't think NECA will ever be able to be the next SHMA, but they are definitely becoming suitable substitutes. NECA can't achieve the same level of detail at the price point, and while their molds have gotten much better, NECA QC is still NECA QC and that is to say, their QC is terrible. Proportionately, I've had more QC issues in the 8 NECA releases I own than in the 29 SHMA figures I own. They are just easier to forgive at $20 than at $80+.

@@MrCool-fo9sr the reason why its expensive is the balljoint and the polymer clay for sculpting and its the reason why neca had limited articulation cuz they need to save up not for bandai.

Don't know if it going down, but it has it's hits and misses. Personally, '54 and GMK Godzilla the released last year were excellent figures, as was the poster version of King Ghidorah. The biggest problem I have had in this line has been with repaints/re-releases, mostly with joints being looser than the original. I have this problem to an extreme with the '64 Emergence Version Godzilla, and even to a lesser degree with the Ghidorah Poster Version I mentioned. This release, however, does seem to be the worst offender.
Though, admittedly, some repaints have actually been improvements in the line as well. Tokyo SOS Kiryu, Spitfire '14 Godzilla, and Birth Version Godzilla all had tighter joints than their original releases.
IBloodstormI Tokyo sos kiryu wasn't a repaint; it was a complete new sculpt directly for that movie, not a repaint of the same sculpt made to look like that movie
contikipaul, no. Tokyo SOS Kiryu is a retooled and repainted mold of the Godzilla x MechaGodzilla Kiryu. it contains a few remolded parts along with new accesories, but is largely the same figure.

How do s.h monsterarts keep screwing up Godzilla's eyes i mean come on after ten years or so you would think they would have the eyes fix by know lol. Im thinking of buying neca Godzilla action figures instead of s.h monsterarts. Especially since its 80 to 150 dollars compared to 20 to 30 dollars.

You know what....I'm just going to remake this out of epoxy or sculpey, and use translucent clay, and put LED lights in it, and make it bigger and better (because seriously it is way too small). Way cheaper and I get to quality control
I am livid with bandai right now. It seems that they can't learn from any of their god damn mistakes and I am sick of it. I wanted Shin and this figure to be AMAZING because I missed out on the first release. I love the burning g design and once more Bandai has disappointed me. There is just so much potential for the line but they keep getting worse and worse whilst the prices get higher and higher. Good job Bandai...

Bandai... They need actual people that are able to identify loose and tight joints, joints that pop off easily, notice misplaced decals, and sloppy paint, and ACTUALLY SPOT EVEN MORE KINDS OF QC ISSUES! Does anyone think Bandai does even have anyone checking their figures that they make for Quality Control issues?

I almost bought this release, but with money constraints over the holidays, and deciding that the smoke effects weren't enough to own this thrice, I canceled my preorder. Glad I did. While I would still like the smoke effects, I will hold some hope that they might see a release in an effect set down the line.
When I had first gotten my Burning version (the original) and saw the white plates next to the orange plates, I had to go check screens from the movie because I thought it looked wrong. For a while, I thought myself in the camp where I wanted his dorsal plates to all be orange. Seeing this, I definitely prefer having the white with the orange. All orange plates look terrible.
I really think they missed out on doing a Spitfire release of this mold, with blue effect parts (since they haven't been released in the line since the first release) and releasing the smoke effects with it to use with the previous burning Godzilla. Like how Rodan came with the spiral atomic beam for Godzilla. They would have made it a must buy for many collectors that missed out on the blue effect parts, and wanted the smoke parts to add to their Burning Godzilla.

That's a very good question. I'd like to know, too.
Prices keep going higher while quality gets lower. The older figures were better. I got Spacegodzilla for christmas in 2015, I got the Alien Warrior for $42 in January 2016, I got Big Chap for $32 in March 2016, I got Destoroyah in January 2017 for $150 and I got Gigan this month for $72.

Welp, I guess this glossy sludge is the hip new thing at Bandai. And those effect parts! I'm sorry but they look nothing like the promo images (promo pics, I know) but they look loose as hell and don't even seem like they even go with the figure. And the way you put them on? Good god how stupid.

I don’t understand why people get angry about rereleases. No one is forced to buy them if they don’t. I feel like they’re for people who are getting in on the line and want to pick up on older figures. For example, if there was a rerelease Biollante some will probably get angry, but I would adore it as I can not justify spending $500 on her right now and the rerelease would likely be half that.

So, bearing in mind that Tamashii is seemingly screwing up more and more, not just with SHMA but just in general, lately, I wanna get an opinion on this: Should I wait for an SHMA Anguirus or get the revoltech Anguirus?
Because I originally got the NECA Shodai-Goji in 2015 back when it was all SH RepaintArts, and I regret it now because eye decals aside the SHMA Shodai-Goji is a better figure in every possible way. But at this point I'm afraid if I wait for an SHMA Anguirus it might be another screwup and I'll have to pay even more for the revoltech. And yeah, aftermarket prices I shouldn't pay third party sellers asking 150+ bucks for it yadda yadda I don't care. I need an Anguirus in my Godzilla collection. So what should I do?

Trev Holmes, there are no signs in SHMA releasing one any time soon. I mean, we are getting a poster version MKGII, which is cool and all, but I think everyone would rather have any showa monsters see the light than it. Now, if they do release on down the line, even if it is on the low end of SHMA quality, it will still likely out shine the revoltech. The revoltech line is not necessarily great, IMO. They are quite a bit smaller, and I'm not a fan of the revoltech joints. I would try to get it as cheap as possible.

All I want from sh monsterarts is a Godzilla 2000 figure that is well done and based off of the real movie suit and not the concept one.
Man, with all these quality control issues. One makes you wonder is SH Monsterarts getting worse?
I feel like it has been a trend with the line from the start. They release a couple gems, then a stinking pile. Personally, I got all but the Ultimate Burning and '16 release from last year (because the '16 release was impossible to find) and I felt all of them were pretty great with little to no QC problems (my Ghidorah's jaw falls off on one of the heads really easy but otherwise, solid figure). Last year's GMK Godzilla might be the best Godzilla figure in the line, in my opinion. I've got some that have been pretty bad over the years: Fire Rodan, Destroyah Evolution Set, '64 Emergence Version, '14 Godzilla, Mothra (those dang legs!). They really haven't, in my opinion, trended downwards (aside from not adding effect any more), but more have maintained their inconsistency throughout the line.
I remember when King Ghidorah was first released, that had problems. I have two SH Monsterarts that are Fire Rodan and Mechagodzilla II and their both fine. One time I was going to order the Destroyah Evolution Set, but I never did and I'm glad that I didn't.
