I loved the night combat shin, it fixed every problem I had with the original. When SHMA announced a night combat G19 I was excited, thinking it would become a trend to improve on figures and make then look better. I was wrong.
Despite the lengthy introduction description i still maintain that you provide clear, unbiased common sense about the monster action figures you review, without much ranting about annoying random ranting.😂❤
Ngl I feel like ever since Neca lost their license, SHMA kinda took a nosedive in terms of quality due to not having any kind of competition, as we have been starting to get figures that are ether sloppily painted or straight have loose joints. Not saying all of them are bad, but it’s just frustrating that not only do we have fumbles like this, but then they make the prices from ether $80-$100+ despite it not having any accessories or even worth the money. Hopefully Hi-Ya is the wake-up call for them
I kinda wish tamashii would lose the rights to the Monsterverse after seeing this abomination they pushed out for a quick cash grab. For some reason we cant get a resculpted and accurate Monsterverse Goji and King Ghidorah 2019. How hard is it to do Reissues and Resculpts Tamashii?
@@TVG2003GXK Destroyah isn't as bad due to his colors, which kinda break up where the new paint was applied. As for Mothra...yes, she's so lazy it's not even funny. Like my SCV isn't even posed because the white/orange of the OG is so much more vibrant then the SCV. While i'm sure it's just my copy her top wing was also inserted wrong meaning her wings never line up. My og Mothra doesn't have that issue. I do love the SCV's eyes and larva though... To be honest she's probably the worst offense other than this new Godzilla.
Shame the paper bag didn't make it in :P. But in all seriousness, I think they know starting with Shin Godzilla (original) that they can get away with minimal effort when it comes to their Godzilla figures because people will eat it up regardless. The only way they will ever step their game up with these releases is if people just don't buy them. But that's not going to happen. For some reason, they really care less about the Godzilla figures themselves. Anything else in SHMA is fare game, but the big man himself? When was the last time an SHMA Godzilla was actual quality? Why don't they make the effort to remake parts like they did with Gamera??
THIS! I guess (in their eyes based off consumer numbers) they can get away with cutting corners on Godzilla himself because he IS Godzilla, the face of the franchise and a cultural icon. Most other lines under the SHMA and SHF umbrella are fine releases with great QC, yet the Godzilla line continues to suffer, with Goji himself getting the worst of it. Unfortunately, like you said, it won't change unless people (fans AND reviewers alike) stop buying, and vote with their wallets. It seems like Toho themselves might also play a bit part here, when looking at the MMS line of figures (and SHMA of course), Ultraman, Gamera etc continue to get great quality releases, while the figures under the Goji IP cost more and have less effort put into them, I imagine because half the budget goes to licensing. The perfect storm of an established line becoming complacent, fans that will bitch and moan but still buy, and a studio capitalising on the marketability of their most popular IP.
Oof! And this is AFTER your Gamera Rebirth review where you specifically talked about the issues with recent QC issues and pricing of these figures! Tamashii Nations really didn’t think this through.
As many times as they have released this goji figure you'd think they would do something to improve the sculpt but no they just slap some paint on it and call it good enough, the hiya version is superior in every sense of the word hell I'd buy it no matter times they repainted it.
Seeing the preview of Steven opening this figure and the head popped off and him laughing like the Joker you know this figure was going to a verbal smackdown the STR way.
Y’know, as awful as this release is, and as much as I agree with this video and how inexcusable Bandai’s actions are here, I really don’t like seeing people in comments sections on here and on other social media acting like Bandai needs to lose the license over this or as if every release from now on is gonna be like this or worse yet, act as if the Monsterarts line never did anything good. The toxicity I’m seeing from the discussion surrounding this line and Hiya is honestly tiring. I am glad that your criticisms are logical and honest without being toxic, though. I’m not venting about you, just other people’s reactions I’ve been seeing. You’re probably one of the few people I’ve seen be critical and honest about this without being ridiculous, and I honestly applaud you for that, Steven..
Agreed. Everyone should just injoy the figures and not compare different line's to each other. Hiya is good. Shma is good. Shma should NOT lose the license because of this release. It's really annoying that people are jumping on that train so fast just because this figure was mid.
Too bad just because they did a few great figures which usually were not even godzilla himself doesn't EXCUSE the amount of fucc up produced godzilla figures name one figure hiya has failed at so far??? Oh that's right their all flawless and on a better budget. Go touch grass.
@@Captainhexpaine First hiya godzilla had really noticeable neck articulation so I didn't purchase it. Not flawless. The new ones look great though. Keep in mind they have something to prove, we will have to see if they keep up the same quality over time.
Yeah this one is an easy pass for me. I'm not one of those "Hiya will replace SHMA" guys as there are plenty of SHMA figures that were fantastic in my book. But THIS thing looks janky as all hell. If Bandai won't update the outdated head sculpt then at least make the paint apps worthwhile. It's very hard to be enthusiastic with this version when Hiya's offerings really nail the feel of Monsterverse Godzilla.
Something that would’ve made more sense to release would’ve been night versions of Godzilla and Kong from the battle in Hong Kong. That scene has immaculate lighting and I would’ve loved to see that replicated on the figures.
I know we are getting a new Godzilla figure to make up for this “azyLay” repaint. I was kinda hoping for a Sh Monsterarts Keizer/Kaizer Ghidorah figure because Bandai seems to resurrect Monster X as a Monsterarts figure and made “modern 2023” vinyls of both Monster X and Keizer Ghidorah. Hopefully Monsterarts will eventually make a “good” quality Keizer Ghidorah figure. The eyes are literally red dots, how hard can it be? Fingers crossed.
Just notice that the open splayed hands came from the G21. Nice point you bring out about the Tamashii Store exclusive Goku. The reason I want that Goku so much is because it has so much new stuff on an old body. If they would just include a new atomic breath or some other effect parts, that would at least add some value.
As a figure that's 1. Is exclusive to 3 specific locations that you'd have to physically go to 2. Is a simple repaint 3. Doesn't include ANY notable accessories like a mouth blast or literally anything It's a complete ripoff and bandai should be ashamed. I've seen it in the NYC store each time ive gone in so far, and I'm probably gonna save up for gamera or literally of the other figuarts/monster arts they have When i first went in I was just there for kid Goku and yeah he comes eith new face places and the windswept hair so that's actually new Even the repaint of the Awakening SSJ Goku came with new face plates, redone hair and an energy effect What the hell happened with this Godzilla
I've had the nagging thought for years now that Bandai/Tamashii have been moving resources away from Godzilla SHMA due to it being much more niche and less profitable in cost to profit ratio regarding paint apps, tooling, ect. Then we get something like Rebirth Gamera that kind of destroys that thought, and then we also get a big stinker like this. Idk man. All I know is that I want that Metal Build Strike Gundam I was seeing at the NY store over this guy.
(After fully watching this, I’m convinced Steven and I are the same mind in different bodies when it comes to the SHMA Monsterverse Godzillas after the original 2019 sculpts lol.)
I would still get it for the collection but its crazy how the still never fixed the back part of Godzilla. The 2019 one has same problem where sometimes the whole tale back end pops out but did use nail polish to tighten joint and worked for me.
i think that figure you can recreate the pose when the water flying drone takes a picture of godzilla when hes resting when godzilla 2019 is absorbing radiation
I knew this guy was bad. BUT DAMN, I didn’t know he was this bad. When they first released this, I was told by AS(articulation series) that they wanted to use the 2021 Godzilla sculpt instead of making a new one. The paint is TERRIBLE. They could’ve at least had some light blue/cyan strikes and lines going down from Godzillas dorsal plates, and the plates themselves were mixed with black and blue. The teeth could’ve been way better in not only paint, but sculpt. And if they were going to use the same headsculpt as the 2021 release, they could’ve at least fixed the left eye socket on Godzilla, fixed the teeth, and the triangular shaped snout.
hey Steve, a suggestion for a possible "FIGURE FIGHT". a clash between: Hiya toys Godzilla 2021 heat ray vs Bandai Godzilla 2019 Poster color ver, it would be interesting
man, I remember I got the Godzilla 2014 SH Monsterarts figure for $70 including shipping, and when I got it I was relatively happy (though the figure needed custom tweaking to fix the paint etc), but decided the line was too expensive and I wasn't going to keep buying them. I'm glad I made that choice, prices have gone up way too much, and quality appears to have not gotten much better barring some standouts
I'm still upset we r getting like no accessories. Special beam color 2 mafch the cool purple hue. Still the paint is killin me. I think it's intentional lack of care. Maybe the fig people need a shake up. Cuz it's disrespectful 2 any customer that would wanna buy it. Such potential when it was shown that colorway is great... needs a custom paint job. Sick of no beam add ons 4 real though.
Hey Steve, or anyone in the comment. Please enlighten me, is all post-2014 Legendary Goji using the same sculpt? Cuz one of Jobby's audience said the sculpt is different, albeit I personally didn't notice. Tbf I didn't notice the differences in Hiya's until it was pointed out in reviews, tho now I can't unsee it. I get that it's not a problem for most ppl if 2019 and 2021 sculpt is different or not, but personally as a collector and a diorama enthusiast, attention to details is highly appreciated and increase its worth to purchase. It shows care as well as accommodating the fans' nerdy needs even if it meant having more production cost. In turn, they'll earn a long-term profit that is loyalty. It is what personally makes me buying all Hiya's Monsterverse products then, now and later. I want to support a company that listen and go out of their way to improve even when they can just go the lazy route. Iirc prior to 2019 announcement, ppl begged Hiya to just rereleased the flawed og 2021. If it was Bandai they probably just do so and reuse the mold for all the other version, but Hiya fixed the og's issues instead, plus giving different sculpt for 2019. Though I hope that passion won't fade away in time, as Bandai kinda used to have such passion
I’m just looking at this and I see no difference between this and Godzilla 2019. What!? There’s blue and purple paint on it!? It’s so subtle and unnoticeable that it’s not worth purchasing.
I honestly gave this figure the benefit of the doubt and ordered one. I saw the box art pretty good and nicely represented. The minute I opened the box and pulled out the plastic godzilla was in his head, tail, and leg was already apart and the neck piece right behind godzillas head was out as well. Okay whatever I snapped em back in but the head and tail are the most delicate and easiest to fall off. And the gaps in between the legs and hips are even worse than the 2019 and 2021. Reason i got this like I said benefit of the doubt and the night version shin godzilla was very well done and had no issues with him. But after purchasing this figure I made my decision I'm done with sh monsterarts. Sticking with xplus, spiral studios, and I like what Hiya is doing they've managed to do everything sh isn't doing. Yes xplus and spiral studios are more expensive but least they're not coming in damaged and are very well detailed and crafted.
I’ve never seen Steven so disappointed before, this figure looks cool but I gotta agree with him why did they have to give us another SHMA Godzilla 2019 figure? I was thinking about buying it because it was less than $100 but after seeing the reviews, I’m passing on it I’ll just get the original SHMA KOTM Godzilla figure.
Man, I pre ordered the Hiya Toys pre evolved Godzilla figure on Amazon and I’m waiting for the company to have the figures in stock and ship it out for me.
Ayyyyy at least 72 was released 😎 BUT THIS FIGURE RIGHT HERE IS AAAAASSSSS. I honestly think, we need to file some sort of complaint to the company, anything to let them know they cannot keep doing this to their buyers. This type of neglet should have ended when the old s.h.monsterarts mothra came out, that was one of the reviews i remember steven being absolutely disappointed with.

I really don't know why they need to release the same mold like 6 times... like 2019/21 designe must be SHMA's favorite because there's so many of this mold compared to all the others
To be honest, since Bandai keeps making the same models for legendary goji (not including 2014 here) I might as well buy the cheapest one, since we don’t need millions of repaints of em Edit: this one is just a 2021 repaint so I’m buying 2021 if this one keeps breaking apart
Damn. That ssjb3kk is fucking amazing. I got the normal ssjb3 Goku. I also wouldn't say Kong or DF are knockoffs or bootlegs tbh, it makes them sound like bad quality. They are still pretty high grade, but some bad QC here and there
Legendary Godzilla doesn't have keloid scaring. Hes not a mutated freak like the original Godzilla or Shin. He's just a prehistoric beast. That being said, i actually like the super dark blue paint, just not enough to buy this sculpt again.
I got a Monster X figure a few days ago and, while he looks amazing, he doesn’t have many accessories and is incredibly flimsy I’m disappointed in Bandai for this. Their figures used to be sturdy (NOT ALWAYS FALLING APART) and had ACTUAL ACCESSORIES. Now we just get a couple hands and an interchangeable head if we’re lucky.

I'm sure they have better things in the future but if they lose license we won't only stop getting bad figures but we will also lose the good ones
1:21 “Okay, get in”
Bandai: Wanna see me do it again?
I was still wondering if shm would do better with Hiya as a competitor, and the facts proved that I thought too much
Both Mothra and Destroyah SCV has the same type of paint issue and it comes across as lazy, especially for a $75+ figure.
I don't own either of those figures, are they really that bad?
@@TVG2003GXK Destroyah isn't as bad due to his colors, which kinda break up where the new paint was applied. As for Mothra...yes, she's so lazy it's not even funny. Like my SCV isn't even posed because the white/orange of the OG is so much more vibrant then the SCV.
While i'm sure it's just my copy her top wing was also inserted wrong meaning her wings never line up. My og Mothra doesn't have that issue. I do love the SCV's eyes and larva though... To be honest she's probably the worst offense other than this new Godzilla.
I Really Appreciate You Making These Reviews You Always Keep Me Informed on What's Good Value & also what not to waste You're Money on
Shame the paper bag didn't make it in :P.
People like you are in short supply in this community
@@Captainhexpaine First hiya godzilla had really noticeable neck articulation so I didn't purchase it. Not flawless. The new ones look great though. Keep in mind they have something to prove, we will have to see if they keep up the same quality over time.
I take this as definitive proof that Bandai should stick to the Japanese kaiju figures rather than the MV stuff. Leave that to Hiya Toys plz ;-;
I knew you’d be brutal, but I didn’t expect you to compare it to a bootleg!
Arguably one, was careful with it lol
I know we are getting a new Godzilla figure to make up for this “azyLay” repaint. I was kinda hoping for a Sh Monsterarts Keizer/Kaizer Ghidorah figure because Bandai seems to resurrect Monster X as a Monsterarts figure and made “modern 2023” vinyls of both Monster X and Keizer Ghidorah. Hopefully Monsterarts will eventually make a “good” quality Keizer Ghidorah figure. The eyes are literally red dots, how hard can it be? Fingers crossed.
Is it just me that likes this figure?
Just notice that the open splayed hands came from the G21. Nice point you bring out about the Tamashii Store exclusive Goku. The reason I want that Goku so much is because it has so much new stuff on an old body. If they would just include a new atomic breath or some other effect parts, that would at least add some value.
As a figure that's
1. Is exclusive to 3 specific locations that you'd have to physically go to
2. Is a simple repaint
3. Doesn't include ANY notable accessories like a mouth blast or literally anything
It's a complete ripoff and bandai should be ashamed. I've seen it in the NYC store each time ive gone in so far, and I'm probably gonna save up for gamera or literally of the other figuarts/monster arts they have
When i first went in I was just there for kid Goku and yeah he comes eith new face places and the windswept hair so that's actually new
Even the repaint of the Awakening SSJ Goku came with new face plates, redone hair and an energy effect
What the hell happened with this Godzilla
The 2019 one has same problem where sometimes the whole tale back end pops out but did use nail polish to tighten joint and worked for me.
i already feel this video is gonna be a riot
i think that figure you can recreate the pose when the water flying drone takes a picture of godzilla when hes resting when godzilla 2019 is absorbing radiation
I’m pretty sure that the prototype had the shma 2014 feet
One did, yes.
Why is nobody talking about how this figures teeth are golden.
I can literally repaint my 2021 godzilla to get this figure.
Same mold, different slap of paint yea?
hey Steve, a suggestion for a possible "FIGURE FIGHT". a clash between: Hiya toys Godzilla 2021 heat ray vs Bandai Godzilla 2019 Poster color ver, it would be interesting
in my opinion g19 pcv destroys
@@gojistopmotions1854 I think this figure is beautiful
man, I remember I got the Godzilla 2014 SH Monsterarts figure for $70 including shipping, and when I got it I was relatively happy (though the figure needed custom tweaking to fix the paint etc), but decided the line was too expensive and I wasn't going to keep buying them. I'm glad I made that choice, prices have gone up way too much, and quality appears to have not gotten much better barring some standouts
i think Godzilla wanted to have Sonic's colors for some reason but didnt want the Tan because he would look like that darn Monkey
Im glad I got the poster version.
Yep!
Why can't we have Behemoth or the other titans?
Yes i agree instead of godzilla 2019 give us the other titans like skullcrwaler or even japanese monsters like anguirus

So which would you say came out worse? This Godzilla or Showa Gigan?
HEY IT'S STEVEN FROM STEVEN'S TOY REVIEWS
3:47 Now that, I didn’t expect that!
Question, didn’t the prototype have the 2014 feet?
One did, yeah
bruh this was made of a movie that is basically night for the whole time
I honestly gave this figure the benefit of the doubt and ordered one.
It’s not even the 2019 sculpt. I don’t get it. Hope Bandai can recover from this one.
Just get the hiya 2019 it's 1000× better than anything shma has done with the monsterverse
@@Sasuke64401 considering it’s cheaper, I might buy it for sure
@@Sasuke64401since I’m a bitch for accessories on a figure I got the heat ray 2021 godzilla
The OG KOTM G19 is $150-$200 now. So this IS a somewhat reasonable substitute. But I agree Hiya is the superior.
Man, I pre ordered the Hiya Toys pre evolved Godzilla figure on Amazon and I’m waiting for the company to have the figures in stock and ship it out for me.
The worst part is sh monster arts isn't trying
I think this figure does have some use, it can be used as a base for custom figures
Ayyyyy at least 72 was released 😎
BUT THIS FIGURE RIGHT HERE IS AAAAASSSSS. I honestly think, we need to file some sort of complaint to the company, anything to let them know they cannot keep doing this to their buyers. This type of neglet should have ended when the old s.h.monsterarts mothra came out, that was one of the reviews i remember steven being absolutely disappointed with.
Whats that other Godzilla variant? It looks awesome compared to this
This is the 1995 sculpt all over again💀
Shma Burning 95 and Godzilla 2019: good figures
Shma rebirth ver and Poster Color ver 2019: the best
Eva 95 and Translucent blue thingy 2019: Cool but you don’t need it
Orai norioshu and Burning 2019: also cool but again you don’t need it
Derpy eye smoking boi 1995 and mr needs to brush their teeth 2019: A disgrace to society
Burning 2019 technically was needed as that was a form of godzilla that was in the movie, would be a huge missed opportunity to do a basic g19, the poster version (which is basically supercharged godzilla) and not do burning.
But your comment is on point
I really wished I watched this before I picked one up at the store, literally came out of the box with its arm and chunk of the tail off.
You can not put "a complete disgrace " in the thumbnail, and then put it in a cool pose like that, you can not do that
How can we fix gap?
From the looks of their Showa Gigan and Godzilla 1972....
They seem to respect their Japanese versions of their characters more then the American ones.
Ima just buy shmonsterarts & neca for Japanese Godzillas and hiya for American ones
I find it ssad that the *S.H. FIGUARTS* Gomora has more accessories and far AFFORDABLE than S.h.Monsterarts Godzilla.
1:04 i see paint stains
That's light reflection.
The reason Tamashi just change color revision because they try to sell the overloaded previous return stock from their store thats way they wanna make extra money with repaint and change box design. They knew that they lossing Because HIYA TOYS
I totally agree with you besides couldn't they just add a bit of blue because during in the movie where godzilla arrived at boston godzilla is pulsing with radiation and that would have been better
This isn't the first time they didn't paint between the joints, or the worst case of it. Night version Mothra was horrible.
I agree with you I don’t understand why they did this when they already made a 2019 Godzilla but at least it’s good for making your own custom figures
What happned to that figure:(
I see that all the white part around him
The fact the figure fall about when he was opened up from his cardboard prison
I love the monster arts line. I’ve bought a few figures, but this line just fell of the face of the planet of this figure. wtf is this supposed to be…
Tamashii needs to get back on the ball man, for a store exclusive I expected it to be perfect, no issues!!! I mean come on man look at the Final Wars Goji he fell apart in the box!!! Bad enough theres no accessories or beams and yet they went all out on gamera?!?!?!?!?!?
Night colors are my favorite
I actually really like this paint job but it’s so disappointing that it’s literally the same figure 6th time but worse
I really don't know why they need to release the same mold like 6 times... like 2019/21 designe must be SHMA's favorite because there's so many of this mold compared to all the others
I love this REAL review I like the colors but I am better off repainting a bootLEG
This will be interesting
To be honest, since Bandai keeps making the same models for legendary goji (not including 2014 here) I might as well buy the cheapest one, since we don’t need millions of repaints of em
Edit: this one is just a 2021 repaint so I’m buying 2021 if this one keeps breaking apart
Damn. That ssjb3kk is fucking amazing. I got the normal ssjb3 Goku. I also wouldn't say Kong or DF are knockoffs or bootlegs tbh, it makes them sound like bad quality. They are still pretty high grade, but some bad QC here and there
We need a "sorry for the bad fig" figure in the form of mecha g 2021 special version with proton scream, and missile effects
Seems like the reveal of the SoshingekiGoji (‘72) today is the apology lol
@@GojiFan1985yt hey at least this year we got kyoto gamera which was a "we're sorry" figure for the 2018 release
Legendary Godzilla doesn't have keloid scaring. Hes not a mutated freak like the original Godzilla or Shin. He's just a prehistoric beast. That being said, i actually like the super dark blue paint, just not enough to buy this sculpt again.
He does. He's been hit with nukes lmfao.
@StevensToyReviews Yes, he has, but it didn't affect him. The Legendary monsters feed off of radiation, it doesn't harm them.
Yeah… I’ll just wait to see what Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’s figures have to offer
Edit: Yeah no, screw SHMA. The hell, guys!?
I got a Monster X figure a few days ago and, while he looks amazing, he doesn’t have many accessories and is incredibly flimsy
I’m disappointed in Bandai for this. Their figures used to be sturdy (NOT ALWAYS FALLING APART) and had ACTUAL ACCESSORIES. Now we just get a couple hands and an interchangeable head if we’re lucky.
I seriously have no idea who asked for this redeco. There have been re-releases of this figure already, and I have not seen a one of Godzilla in the king of the monsters movie where he even closely resembled this specific color. Nobody asked for this. I apologize immensely that you had to go through the pain of even reviewing this pile of garbage.
Thank God I’m too poor to even try and get an SH Monsterarts figure

Godzilla 1972 has finally been reveled
I seen the unboxing and it was hilarious🤣
I can't get over how inaccurate the MonsterArts sculpt looks. It's not quite as striking until you see it next to the Hiya Goji.
