I regularly go back and watch your older videos and they make me soo happy. I have been following you guys for 10 years now and you never fail to make me feel better.
This was my first ever EYK video (aka simonandmartina) I remember the night I found it.. I was in my comfy round green chair and my laptop. Scrolling through RUclips. And I been hooked since. 2012. I would do anything to go back to that time. Man times flies so fast
Here in Brazil there is donuts, but what is more common is what americans call filled doughnut (the ones without a hole in the middle). We call them "sonhos" (dreams). The best flavor to me is Dulce de Leche (I didn't know they called this way in english, but the wikipedia calls it). In fact, everything dulce de leche's flavored tastes great... ice cream, churros, etc. You should all try!
Im from Quincy Massachusetts, which is the home of the first Dunkin Donuts, and we have seasonal donuts, like lemonade and key lime, we also have apple pie, pumpkin spice, chocolate brownie batter (my favorite), and the infamous Boston Creme. They even have fancy pastries and sandwiches. these flavors are new to me
Heard the name of the glutinous rice one and was like, oh my gosh, that will be delicious, Simon. And I was right! Anything containing glutinous rice is pretty much the best. I had a glutinous rice apple pie stick thing at Dunkin Donuts in Seoul once and it made my mouth quite happy.
in california, uts mostly krispy kreme here ( : but when i went to visit the east coast, dunkin donuts were really popular in boston and rhode island. those donuts look so interesting!
no, but (in my country) we have two different type of rice, the normal one (which we use for making savory food) and glutinous one (usually for dessert), therefore there are two types of rice flour as well! the glutinous rice is more sticky and chewy, while the normal one is less sticky and not chewy. we think that the sushi rice is kinda in between rice and glutinous rice, if that gives you more illustration.
Tho the type of donuts they're selling in korea don't attract much of my attention, but this vid totally made me craving donuts for weeks. Oh God. Simon&Martina, u sure do know how to make me hungry lol
@alicenlucy actually those are probably specials they only have in Korea. When I went over there they had a ton of different food chains but the menus were very different. But we still have Timm's.
I went to the Mister Donut in Japan and they had "mochi donuts" that looks like the "Chewisty". It's made of mochi flour (glutinous rice flour) and I LOVE the chewiness. I also love that 'Asian' doughnuts seem less sweet and they have so many interesting flavour combos (some fail, but a lot are good!). The word "glutinous" doesn't sound very appealing - true (guttural sounds usually don't), but I associate it with deliciousness due to my love for mochi. =)
We don't have donut shops where I live, We can go to a bakery and get a limited selection of donuts liek chocloate covered and sugar donuts... but these do seem nice, I want to try them!
@soluiz no. the rice is sticky rice. Koreans just don't know that "sticky rice" is the generic term (or rice cake as Koreans say it) in the west, so they say glutinous
Simon and Martina are not from the States. Neither am I, but i've worked at a tim hortons, and they are slowly making their way into the states. There are quiet a few, i think about 30, but i think they're only in the North Eastern States. Like New York and such, close to the border with Canada.
@tottru haha..yeah,I forgot about that..J.Co is from Indonesia rite? If I'm not mistaken...same too, need to compete with Malaysian Brand...I tried J.co donuts once since they are not many outlets here..the taste is quite same with Big Apple..
great vid, I really like how every country adds different flavors and styles of the food that we dont usually find in our own local food chain restaurant :3 . I would love to try these donuts
@wontonsipodhelp um actually, the earthquake affected countries as far as the United States. SK wasn't affected by it (one of the only neighboring countries of japan that hasn't) because Japan tends to protect SK from tsunamis and earthquakes geographically given that they're from Japan's east side
@ChurtleSnap it's good for ya + Koreans love sweet potato b/c it's abundant there and ppl eat it for meals and snacks all the time (+ it's said to be good for constipation)
Great video :) I actually went to Dunkin Donuts a few times in Korea, but never dared trying those weird donuts ^^ I usually stick to basics, like green tea stuff :)
We don't have this in the UK ;_; I think I found a creme puff store once XD We usually have jam or custard donuts on sale in supermarkets here. Wish I could try the Dunkin Donuts'
Totally agree with the "Tim Hortons is the mother of all donut shops" in Canada!!!! Hahahaha both lines and drive-throughs are so looooong. It's so NASTEEEEE
the best doughnut place in korea is krispy kreme! it's american but i think the menus here are much better. i personally love hazelnut cafe and custard filled chocolate. all of their chocolate doughnuts are good.
It's crazy, isn't it? I have been living in Seoul (originally from New York) for six months now and one of the first things I noticed was how posh and swank the Dunkin Donuts are over here. I think I'll stop in for desert after my BBQ dinner. ^^
When I was in the Seoul airport for like 4 hours going back to America from Japan they had a Dunkin Donuts and my friend got a Pomegranate donut!! SO YUMMY ~~~ And they had cute little mini donuts :DD
there are still Krispy Kremes here. You must live in a really small area I'm assuming. There's a Dunkin Donuts shop across the street from me and a Krispy Kreme shop about 15 minutes away. Love them both.
All that's near me is Shipley's and I'm kind of on the fence about them. There used to be a Krispy Kreme in Austin (about an hour away) but it closed, Round Rock donuts are okay, but I've never had Dunkin.
when i went to Korea for the MBC Star Audition (2nd audition), the apartments we stayed at had a "dunkin donoughts" on the bottom floor in the complex...very convient for early morning breakfast :) *sigh* i miss korea =(
Hey Simon and Martina! Just to let you guys know, There are no dunkin donuts in Canada yet, however the Krispy Kreme Chain has made its appearance in Canada in the past few years. Also, Tim Hortons got bought by an American company so they are showing up in the states too... yaa... its sad..
YUM. hahah the only craziest donut i tried in korea was a green tea one... I just love sweet donuts too much that I didn't try the koreanized ones... :)
its so cool to be able to see what different donuts they have in Korea. I work in a dunkin donuts in NY, so to see this made me happy
