    I regretted not having my teeth extracted by the way. I had mild to severe overcrowded and the doctor recommended doing extraction, but decided not doing extraction. After 12 month, my teeth were straigthened up but I wasn't happy at all with my smile and the way my mouth close. They are overjet and pertrusive. And it took me two years to finally realize that I should've listened what the doctor said.
    I totally had to look at my old smille with crooked overcrowded teeth but my overall teeth were not moving too much forward or pertrusive and they were actually better than now that my teeth are pertrusive. So after two years without braces, I'm doing it again, and just had my two upper molar extracted.
    It's definitely not the same case for everyone. In my case, I already have bony and strong cheekbones and jaw, but the fact that my overjet creates discomfort that sometimes I bite my underlips by mistake during sleep, that will definitely make me regret of not doing what the doctor recommended which is tooth extraction.

    • @Nikizumetto
      @Nikizumetto Год назад

      How has your face changed so far? I also have strong cheekbones so I’m afraid I’d lose it with extractions.

    • @yacobsimamora8516
      @yacobsimamora8516 Год назад +9

      @@Nikizumetto well, let me give an update. The gap where my two teeth were extracted are now closed completely. So no more pulling the metal, just an act of maintaining the structure (?).
      I actually love how it turned out. There are zero changes with my cheekbones and jawline, just like what the doctor always tell me and exactly what I expected. My face is now indeed has a more desirable smile (according to myself), and my side profile is more chiseled / contoured. Because my upper teeth were pertrusive, this treatment is not making my face sunken! It fixes my face shape to what it's supposed to be, and definitely no sleep apnea. The ratio between my upper and lower teeth is now perfectly balance after my two upper teeth were extracted.
      By the way, each person will have different case and result. Honestly, I would be scared with the idea of extracting two upper and two lower molars, that's a little bit aggressive and might create a shocking result. When you have pertrusive upper and pertrusive lower at the same time, I don't think that's a problem as long as it's balanced, and no need an extraction for that case, but that will create even more pertrusive smille, but that's just my opinion.

      Don't tell people to keep "advice to themselves" many people suffer as a result of Orthodontic Treatment involving Extraction/Retraction,
      Dentists and Orthodontists Don't always know what's best for patients, and more people should be aware of that.
      I Once saw a case example on a British clinic's site, of a girl treated NON-EXTRACTION with DAMON Braces in under a year.
      She was initially going to get Braces under the UK NHS (Health Service) but was REFUSED Non-Extraction by an NHS Orthocuntist, insisting upon the removal of 4 teeth even though it was unnecessary. And the proposed Treatment was estimated to take around 2 years to complete.
      Some Dentists and Orthodontists are still Deceiving Patients into getting unnecessary Extractions.

And additionally, the previous orthodontists did not fix my bite! So now i have 3 problems: TMJ, bite defect, and skeletal defect.

      Hey! How's your treatment going? Did the gap close? I've had braces from august and I might need to remove one teeth from lower jaw.

    Please never extract any of your permanent teeth for orthodontic purposes! Permanent tooth extractions for orthodontic treatment is the biggest ponzi scheme ever! It's extremely disturbing that some orthodontic professionals still even recommend removing permanent teeth as part of orthodontic treatment. Speaking from personal experience with extraction/retraction orthodontic treatment, please never extract any healthy permanent teeth for orthodontics! This is an extremely outdated orthodontic treatment developed in the 1940's/1950's and can have many chronic negative side effects including the following: negatively altered facial structure (narrow face, increased facial wrinkles, thin lips); dished-in profile; flattened face and midface area (pancake-like); prominent nasolabial folds; larger appearing nose (due to reduced facial bone volume from permanent tooth extractions); inner ear disturbances; compromised airways; Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJD); reduced tongue space; forward head posture; sleep apnea; and psychological trauma (from being recommended to remove YOUR permanent teeth aka YOUR permanent body parts).

      KT ATH wish I had read this 2 weeks ago before i went ahead and did this myself. I felt like I was given no choice but to do so. Only one permanent tooth was extracted. The other was extracted do to it being a dead root. They told me a root canal was not ideal with braces as they too are outdated and not good long term. So they pulled a healthy one and a dead tooth in the name of symmetry. I am disturbed and upset at myself for not questioning my dentist and ortho more. It is sooooo important to do research!!!!!!!!!
