You will regret Removing Teeth For Braces/Orthodontics Forever

- Removing teeth for braces can in the long run can ruin your life. There are very few situations where straightening teeth and removing teeth is a good idea. The better strategy is to use expanders to create room for all the teeth to fit.
The side effects of extraction orthodontics:
Mouth Breathing
Mouth Breather Face
Sleep Apnea
Teeth Clenching and Bruxism
TMJ Pain
Poor Posture
Braces and adult teeth extractions will cause a decrease in facial profile. No one wants to see their lips and chin sink into their face. A better technique is to use orthodontic palate expanders to grow more space in the jaws so all your teeth fit. There are many appliances capable of growing the jaws wider, taller and more forward. Creating better facial structure now will prevent future teeth clenching, sleep apnea, wrinkles and poor facial profile. Maxillary expanders are available for adults and kids. The Vivos and Homeoblock appliances are two examples of adult appliances that should be explored.

Removing Teeth will Ruin Your Bite and Smile
Removing teeth is a mistake with consequences for the rest of your life. It will not only ruin your look, but also cause sleep, breathing and bite problems. Additionally, small jaw spaces is a major cause of bruxism, TMJ pain and premature aging and wrinkling of the face. Look at how the chin doubles as the jaw is stepped back in the picture above. It is almost never a good idea to extract teeth for and use orthodontic retraction. It is much better to use different expanders to stimulate the mouth to grow larger, so all the teeth can fit.
I think it might be different for everyone, i had a Overjet problem and got two uper pre molars extracted for braces and now my side profile and My jaw structure looks much better

Everyone that undergoes extraction will have sustained damage. The answer is that PER affects each patient differently on a wide spectrum. You are probably the lucky few. Some patients report aesthetic damage, others have aesthetic damage plus health issues. Some PER patients have certain health issues, but not others. Some have light symptoms. Some have severe symptoms. Some develop issues immediately during treatment, others years or decades later. Some have zero symptoms and report being satisfied with the outcome. Either-way, it is too risky. And people end up damaged for life.
Extraction retraction rarely is safe. Why do such a gamble on a person’s life, when there are much safer methods out there to fix a bite anomaly. Pulling teeth is permanent, no way back if something goes wrong. You can fix the damage afterwards, but is very difficult. Not enough documented reversal cases since the industry itself damage people and won’t invest in fixing them. We need to speak up and do class action. Then the government has to take action and force the orthodontic industry to fix people they damaged and prevent further damage to generations to come. Pulling teeth should be banned.
Evolution gave you these teeth for a reason. We do not have too many teeth, but underdeveloped jaws. To prevent the need for orthodontic treatment we as a society should encourage good lifestyles to young people for proper development of their jaw and teeth alignment. Because malocclusion is not due to genetics, but epigenetics.
@@Russeren01 i agree
@@Russeren01what about if you have an adult canine erupting next to a baby tooth but there is less space can I pull out the baby tooth then get braces to close the gap or will this also negatively impact my profile?
@@ameeraz2048I don’t know. That is a very unusual case. What I am referring to here is adult teeth extractions (premolars) for braces which never is a good idea. Safer methods should always be approached first, especially if the bite doesn’t bother health-wise. I haven’t seen your case, so it is hard to tell. You should improve your lifestyle. Malocclusion happens because of bad posture and lifestyle from youth to teenage years to adulthood, not genetics, it’s epigenetics. You are not supposed to have baby teeth as an adult. So removing it you will probably not be affected. You sure that it is not an adult teeth and you just misunderstand what it is?

I have the same problem. I wear a mask outside not because of corona, but because my face is ruined and I do not want to show it. @@meekmarie4907is this worth it 😥 my doctor said my 4 teeths been remove I am very scared please tell
I'm getting one tooth removed in the lower front. My top teeth are fine, but my bottom ones are much more crowded and causeing a cross bite. my gums are not holding up to pushing them out so this is my only option. They wanted to remove four teeth but I was set on not doing that from the start so I suggested one bottom one. When I talk you just see my upper teeth and not my lower at all. I don't care about having a midline and don't think anyone will notice. I'm glad I knew about the negatives for removing four teeth, especially because I don't need that much space for the amount of crowding and it would be totally pointless for my upper teeth.

no one ever talks about how you can save people from needing braces basicly ever with brushing and spacers to esnure no teeth ever crowd each other and the spacers drop out when ready as the jaw grows to the size needed
True. Most of my adult patients have had braces but really needed expanders. Sometimes if space is created at the right time the teeth will fit without the need for braces but not always.
Expanders and myofunctional therapy
i have lost teeth coz of decay and i feel so depressed but i really appreciate wisdom teeth for my teeth back up.
I think for some people who have real problems such as overcrooked teeth, misplaced teeth position(like me), etc. Braces are only way out because at least you can better clean your teeth which is good for overall oral health.
We disagree. It is always better to grow the jaws so all the natural teeth fit.
@@SereneOrthodontics Hi. I have a few concerns I was hoping you could help me with. Are you saying extractions and retraction procedures such as elastics, etc are bad or braces/invisalign are inherently bad?
Traditional braces have never improved anyones oral health, instead the latter. If people just changed lifestyle and posture from childhood, no one would ever need braces again.
What if you have protrusion?. My upper jaw is more forward. My lower jaw is smaller due to hypodontia that causes inadequate jaw growth.
This happened to me when I was 11, so I really had no choice. I'm 21 now, and I'm suffering from crowding, mouth breathing, TMJ, narrow palate, etc. I have heard of Orthotropics and other things, but is there something I can do that is relatively inexpensive, but also make quality of life better?
Look into bicuspid extraction reversal
@erikaperez3607 thank you, my friend. My situation is pretty bad right now, but hopefully I can have something like this done within the next few years once my financial situation is better. Thanks for the information.
Me too, I extracted two teeth from my upper jaw and now I’m having tmj without headaches, only clicks + my midline is shifted (lower jaw is shifted to right). And now there’s a doctor advised me to extract a 1 teeth from my lower jaw since my lower jaw teeth is shifted to right, but I’m too worried 😞

How about wisdom teeth rather than front side teeth?
Hi Doc. for overcrowded & 2 rotated tooth in adult patients - would you reccommend pulling out 4 tooth? or would you still stick to the principle that its better to not do that. If we dont pull out the tooth, what are some ways dentists can make space? Examples? because I have been told by 2 dentists that they would like to pull out 4 premolars. According to them, they said "sure we can force your teeth to be straight, but if we dont pull out 4 premolars, your teeth would move forward then you probably would have an overjet and protruding front teeth"
what do u think, Doc? is it true? i swear i honestly am holding on and aint giving up but tryna find a dentist who can do braces WITHOUT pulling 4 perfectly healthy teeth. Fgs
For me . i had no choice i had 3 tooth extracted coz i had really bad overcrowding my teeth were so bad... yes it made my middle line slightly bad...everything else is fine.... but definitely my teeth look much better than before atleast
The strategy is to use expanders to make the jaws larger so all the teeth and tongue fit properly
You could have fixed the overcrowding with expansion. You’re now in the danger zone of developing health problems later because of the extractions. Do you understand why malocclusion happens? Because it is definitely not due to genetics.
I have 2 premolar missing on my upper jaw, so i have more teeth on my lower jaw which causes a bad bite, jaw asymetry and overcrowd of my lower teeth. Orthodontist wants to extract 2 premolars on my lower jaw to have the same number of teeth on the lower and upper jaw and make space to align the lower teeth. Is there any other option?
I have crowding and have gotten analyzed by 4 different orthos all saying the same thing, most likely 3/4 extractions. The ortho I went ahead with says only one premolar on the bottom is necessary but i will keep the overbite on top. I see you keep refrerring to expanders, what about older people who's jaw have already developed and is no longer growing?
We have Adult expanders. It’s better to create space for all the teeth to fit. Extraction retraction will crowd tongue space and cause breathing problems at night. Maybe TMJ too.
My dentist have mine removed when I was younger so I could then wear braces. And now as an adult, I’m paying more just to fix this.

Usually, it is impossible to get all the space back, but getting some of the space back can improve the situation dramatically.
Premolar extraction retraction is not correction, it is physical, unnecessary damage which will give lifetime of pain and suffering.

It’s not a problem with your teeth. It’s a problem with your cranium. So do not extract those teeth!
🦷Im gonna be the weirdest patient here. None of my teeth were removed , teeth were not aligned so they brought them in alignment with braces and i had over bite. I've completed 1.5 year in braces. Everything is aligned now, I now have midline shift, none of my teeth sit on each other. My dentist is now suggesting extraction of 2 or 3 teeth to make those upper teeth sit inside. I have appointment after 2 says.
Please do the needful and reply, if it will work or ill have to regret?????
If you have protruding teeth it might help to extract. What did you decide to do?
Moving teeth around is like moving furniture around a room that is not big enough. What you likely need is an expander to create more room so your teeth will fit in a more favorable way. Appliances can also correct a difference in size and shape between the upper and lower jaw. I would avoid removing teeth at all cost
Okay so question. At 10 before i even had braces i had a pallate expander at the top of my mouth. I dont think i had any premolar extractions before braces. However, i had braces put on for two years from 12-14, and during about 6-8 months id wanna say, i had to wear rubber bands on my braces. Is that retraction?
Also, about 5 months ago i had my wisdom teeth removed at 23, i believe this affected my face. Im pretty sure all my teeth moved backwards when i had wisdom teeth taken out, now my facial profile looks flat and it looks like my bottom jaw elongated a bit, its not as squared off now, its more v shaped. Do i have this? My cheekbones dont pop out anymore, its like my face lost all definition.
True.
What other solution, in case of a crowded narrow mouth?
