I love that they're playing at literally the highest level of competitive highlander and their setup comms sound like 9 drunk undergrads playing minecraft over discord
it's all has meaning, and understanding those meanings is part of playing comp. Making, understanding, and playing around callouts is a skill that you will need to be playing at this level.

What is funny to me is that the spy who is low scoring in Banny's team is main calling when he can barely manage his own gaming. A spy is supposed to sap teleports, touch the cart, back cap, and getting thise vital picks. He is doing nothing at all. Why is he main calling? A good example can be seen when Banny is trying to bunk to pritect his heavy from incoming fire. From the enemy heavy. The strategy should have been get the spy behind them and bunk banny as distraction, so the spy can backstab the soldier and the heavy. When the enemy enginner is flanking them Banny is going around destroying teleports and chasing the engineer. He gets picked by people teleporting in after he kills the eng. The spy should be there no the scout who is needed in the front lines. Why is the guy playing spy main calling. When he said I have to go with my dad, I would have said ..... Get the hell out of here!

@@larncieldarknciel440 Spy is not as effective as you think against professionals lol. Spy is the main caller because he has the most information due to him constantly being invisible among the enemies. He knows everyone’s position, health and uber, so it makes sense he makes a lot of callouts.
I love how chaotic this is and I especially love the lack of weapon bans. I didn't realize how stale 6's could be till I heard someone call 'pyro might have phlog'.

@@cinquine1 theres no point to play pyro in 6s in general, and idk anyone who does. Meta is 2 scouts 2 sol 1demo and 1 med. 4 of the 9 classes split among 6 ppl. Lol
@@antthegord9411 You offclass pyro a fair bit even at the highest levels (for example in product you do it all the time, and on most 5cp lasts when defending), and some people do run it full time with a lot of success (not really at the very highest levels because ver good players can work around him, but still). Airblast is amazingly good, and will win games all the time when used right.
Pyro does suffer from a "whole is less than the sum of his parts" problem, which is why he isn't run more.

It depends on the map. On koth maps scout is still incredibly strong. Cp_steel is literally the worst map in the game for scout though.

Competitive TF2 would have had more viewers and drawn more people to it if Highlander was the default comp mode. It’s more exciting, it allows more people access to it, and it’s easier to follow.

Now THIS is an esport. Constant action, intense combat, constant fallouts to the point where no one watching knows what tf is going on. it’s got it all! Besides, like, huge football stadium-sized tournaments.
In Esports you want people to know what is going on. Thats why there is usually commentators on bigger Esports like lol, cs, dota and such. Tf2 hl is probably one of the worst Esports to watch. sixes is more watchable but there is still a huge strategic understanding that falls flat in tf2 comp as a viewer.

Yeah but regardless his main weakness is being slow, in formats like that it’s fine, other classes will keep the pressure but if u don’t have a good team, or are on 5cp competitive, you’re gonna have a bad time.
TF2 with communication it's so much more inmersive, no matter the outcome you always end up with a smile

6:01 is there a respawn command?
he uses loadout binds, you can go to options and bind a button to loadouts A - C, for example I have J on A and K on B loadout, if you press it while getting to spawn it basically instantly respawns you
Loudout switch buttons. You have the option to bind Loadout A to D in options. Hit the button while in spawn. You will respawn in your teams latest active spawn after the item server notice the loadout switch.
If you have multiple spawn rooms, you will respawn in either one of them, for example defending team on Badwater and Frontier after 2 controll points are capped.
Be aware with items that build up meters or head collecting, as their counters/meters will be reset on respawn. The meters won't reset if that exact item is on the loadout you are going to swap to, and you don't respawn, but just hit the resupply.
HUD elements for some meters might not show up in some cases when you quick swap between loadouts that has where one has that meter but the other don't.
If you use the loadout switch buttons while waiting to respawn as a different class, the loadout swap will happen to the class you died as and not the one that you will respawn as.

Is just capping more points a win condition? Just capping faster could lead to weird situations where letting the enemy cap is optimal if they cap a few fast and then get held for a while. Like if they cap first in 26 seconds, why not just wait it out and try to hold one point for 26 seconds to win (26 seconds was the fastest point in this game).
Because they have the win condition of either capping it in a faster time, or capping the next point in all the remaining map time. Since it's relatively easy to cap points in this game, that would be a death sentence.
i.e. You cap A in 20 seconds and decide to not push anymore. When the other team plays on offense, they can win by capping A in less than 20, or capping B.

@@finmin2k That doesn't make it objectively better, that's subjective. 4s have more tension and deaths matter more, there are more risks in 4s than 6s, one dies = the rest dies.
@@damsen978 that comment was a joke, but I agree with its sentiment. 6s is a lot more team based, has a lot more coordination and skill required to succeed comparatively. 4s isn't bad, though. It promotes mixing the game up and going for weird plays.
That being said, don't get the idea that 4s "have more tension and deaths matter more". 4s is fun, but suffers from these. For one, it doesn't have more tension. Not sure where you got that. You must've never seen a good 6s game.
Second, there are not more "risks" in 4s, there's more stupid plays. People go for low percentage plays a lot in 6s, which are risks. People in 4s go for risks, but they also go for more stupid plays. That's not taking more risks, that's playing dumber.
Plus, these two things are minor and even if they were true would mean nothing for your argument. 6s is objectively better. There are so many things that make 6s the perfect way to play competitive tf2, especially when compared to 4s.
I've heard people argue for prolander, I've heard people argue for highlander. I've never heard someone dumb enough to unironically argue for 4s, except you.

I enjoy comp in every shooter i play. I badly want to get involved in the comp scene for tf2 but the only comp players i've ever met came to a server i play on and picked me out of the bunch to harass. It got pretty bad and they are now banned but i gotta say it has me a little intimidated. I assume most comp players aren't actually shitty people? I mean yall seem cool. How does one get started in this scene? How do i meet people willing to play with a noob?

@@leferraille7207 thats not relevant since you have a ton of people to heal that are always injured. especially heavy. in hl unless you're turtling really hard and no one is taking damage generally you build uber at the max rate

I don't know what would be harder, focusing on playing the game well, or trying to understand what his team is saying, it's SO MANY call outs being thrown everywhere, how do they coordinate at all? xD
it's easier than it sounds. when you play so much you don't really "think" about the calls, it's almost like muscle memory. imagine a league of leguends, dota or hots teamfight, if I stopped at any point and asked you the remaining cooldown (if any) on each player's ability, you would have no idea, but still you probably know who has ult up, who doesn't, who already wasted CC, etc. the same thing happens here, you know the general positions of the enemy team and you pick up important calls like "uber's up, spy behind us, scout flanking, soldier spam cart" and so on.
@@Igelme compared to the games you mentioned, comms is still harder in tf2. In dota, you can see everything your teammates see, theres visual indicators for basically everything (hp, cooldowns etc.) Call outs only happen when someone wants to coordinate something and its usually just the captain. In tf2 theres a damn call out for everything you do.
