Deedee Magno Hall is such a pure soul. That last clip especially clinches it for me, the person playing the Ukulele felt they messed up and abandoned it, panicking and apologizing, and she immediately took the attention off of them, said it was fine, then wrapped up the song and she flubbed the ending to further draw attention away from the Uke player’s perceived mess up while simultaneously showing that person that it’s totally fine to screw up, even freaking Pearl does it. That was amazing, not only was it super duper caring and kind, but it was an incredible example of great intuition and social intelligence. It was just...ugh, that was so cool of her, I’m so happy
I was there at Conneticon in Hartford CT when Deedee was there. I was in the back during this sing-along with my older sister, her boyfriend, my other sister, my husband (boyfriend at the time), and our mutual friend with her service dog. There were so many people going to that panel that there was a cutoff point. The group of us were rushing to the elevator to make it on time and just happened to catch the next ride up with a couple and their little kid riding on their suitcase. Once we ran to the line, we were some of the last to get in. When Deedee made a comment about her husband and son sitting closer to the back, we looked and my other sister immediately whispered to me "that was the couple we were in the elevator with!" WE WERE IN SUCH A RUSH TO GET TO THE PANEL THAT WE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WE WERE RIDING IN THE ELEVATOR WITH DEEDEE! We brought it up to her later in the day when we went to get an autograph and picture with her and she said she remembered us! she also said we looked like we were in a rush when we got on the elevator and my friend said "yeah, cause we wanted to get to the panel to see you!" It was such a great moment and it's one that'll stick in my memory till I die. We're all so grateful that we got to meet her and if I could change one thing, it's that I would've taken notice that we were riding with her in the fricking elevator!
