If I remember right Chingford wasn't meant to be the terminus either it was meant to go further to high beach for epping forest, but cause of the queen it was deemed no one could build on the forest and the extension was scrapped.
At least I wasn't the only one who spotted this. I'm from Highams Park and got really annoyed that he didn't pronounce it correctly despite it being easy to pronounce.
To say that it'll be incorporated into Crossrail 2 in 2030 is very optimistic as T. R. has already mentioned considering CR2 has already been mothball'd
Worth noting that the Churchbury Loop (between Lower Edmonton and Cheshunt) was closed to passenger traffic for many years (1909-13, then again from 1919-1960) owing to lack of patronage. The expected building boom in the area it served took a long time to happen. The station buildings at Theobalds Grove and Turkey Street were let out as private accommodation, while Churchbury/Southbury became a storage facility for a plumbing firm. The railways, however, reserved the right to use the line as an alternative route in emergencies, to the occasional inconvenience of the various occupants.
Interesting to hear about what the Lea Valley Lines is today and how London Overground took over the Lea Valley Lines back in 2015. And with the Class 710/1 Aventra trains which are currently operating to Chingford, Cheshunt and Enfield Town. Maybe you could do a video of the West London Orbital which could happen in few years or in 10 years. And with the electrification on the Dudding Hill Line and Class 710/2 dual voltage London Overground trains to be built for the new service. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_London_Orbital en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dudding_Hill_line en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_710
Hi Ashley, you stated that the Lea Valley lines where once part of the Great Western Railway, they were not, they were part of the Great Eastern Raolway. Other than that, great video
As Jeff said 317s are still on GA inc the few that London Overground had are now with GA still in same colours with GA name. 379s are also on the route running various services inc Hertford East and the Meridian Water-Stratford shuttle and recently I think the 'Stansted Express' branding removed. There is even a good old class 37 that can regularly be seen on the route last time I saw it last week in the GA yard at Temple Mills where the former EWS depot used to be.
Officially the Lee ....and the reason so definitive My father worked for the Lee Conservancy Catchment Board lccb so official spelling was Lee Ironically the offices of the Lccb were on Waterloo Bridge ie on the Thames When the Lccb was incorporated into Thames water he moved offices to Theobalds Grove ie on the Lee We lived at Hertford so dad swapped from using Hertford North to Hertford East
I think Crossrail 2 has been, for now, stopped due to funding-something to do with tfl needed Government funding for existing lines and as part of the funding they had to cease work on Crossrail 2 as part of the agreement -at least for the foreseeable future
Isnt there a plan in the near future to triple the line between Tottenham Hale an Cheshunt? Provision for this is slowly being added. The new Meridian water station as well as Northumberland Park and Tottenham Hale all have the extra platforms added recently.
Great Eastern not Western - bit glaring as far as errors go, 40 seconds in, cant comment on the rest as I stopped bothering after that gaffe, cant trust smaller details as I wont know how wrong or not they are
3:01 No, no, no... I thought you were a Londoner. It isn't Hig-hams park, it's High-ams Park!
Cheshunt is pronounced chez unt without the “sh”
Streatham or Streaffam?
I'll clearly stick to my little corner in SW London. Wait till next week, I'm pronouncing Welsh stations...
@@ashleyrabot Ooh, good luck!
Chesn’t
You forgot to mention the fact (note aside) that it became part of the London Overground in 2015, which is sort of the point of the video I think.
Good video. Walthamstow Central was called Hoe Street and was only renamed with the arrival of the Victoria Line tube.
If I remember right Chingford wasn't meant to be the terminus either it was meant to go further to high beach for epping forest, but cause of the queen it was deemed no one could build on the forest and the extension was scrapped.
Anyone else not a Londoner and yet watch half a dozen channels that you found via videos talking about transport routes in London?
Hig-hams Park is actually pronounced High-ams Park
And Cheshunt is pronounced Chezz-unt, not Chesh-unt
And Broxbourne is Brocks-born, and the river is pronounced Lee never Leya
At least I wasn't the only one who spotted this. I'm from Highams Park and got really annoyed that he didn't pronounce it correctly despite it being easy to pronounce.

Not the reply at all. Not even a comment.
Stupid reply

What are the running patterns on these lines?

Hi Ams Park...
And Waltamstow central was Hoe St when I used the line think it changed in 80s

Great Eastern not Great Western, anyway my old local lines, great series, thanks !
Its not "Higgins" Park but "Highams" Park as in "high" not "higg".
0:02 that place is one minute away from me
RIP Class 315/317 on the Lea Valley lines, miss you everyday ;__;
317s are still there although GA uses them more for excess stock now
As Jeff said 317s are still on GA inc the few that London Overground had are now with GA still in same colours with GA name. 379s are also on the route running various services inc Hertford East and the Meridian Water-Stratford shuttle and recently I think the 'Stansted Express' branding removed. Hall Farm Curve ?
From 1878 to 1964 there was also a short branch from Seven Sisters to [Alexandra] Palace Gates, long since closed. dismantled and built over.

If crossrail 2 did get built which it won't, terminus was Broxbourne with plans to extend to harlow Town. Haven't seen plans for Hertford east
I think in the long run it would make sense to takeover all the spurs along but yes you're right. Not that it'll be happening anytime soon
nice graphic presentations, thanks :)
Excellent maps.
It’s great eastern railway!!
He says it at 2:08 dude
Well yeah only the north eastern railway I guess
