I like the SR 1911 better... Not because of the nice single action trigger because I actually prefer the DA/SA system over the antiquated 1911 trigger. The only reason I like the SR 1911 better is because its one of the only decent made Rugers. Mostly because of cosmetic reasons but the p-90 was cast with lots of flaws and the SR was machined from billet stock. Its just made nicer and looks better. All of the Rugers are outstanding shooters though.
interesting... father has had one for decades, one he carried as a primary duty weapon. i have had mine for over a decade now, neither have had issues or notice these "flaws" you speak of. and i know many others would echo what i am saying too. i have seen these quite literally recovered from the bottom of laks and rivers and brought back to life too. we will have to majorly disagree that they have "flaws" or tha tbeing an aluminum frame are isues for concern. at least you do admit that some of your bias is cosmetic prefernece (an i can understand why that is). a 1911 is a whole different animal. but i can see where you are coming from. i love my Taurus PT1911s, PT92s and PT22 but have never been a fan of their more original design auto loaders.... the G3 and G4 specifically seem to be solid designs, just don't care for them.
Flaws? I see no flaws in my P90
@@seasonalalrg you aint lookin close enough lol
I bought my P90 back in 1996. Loved it from the first time I fired it.
i bet
I have both and both are very rugged reliable firearms that were very underrated!
Same...I overly care for mine. Also, I'll looking for the p91 to complete my collection 😎
I used the p 90 as a security guard and GP 100 my roommate at the time had the p89 it was ok had a bigger magazine capability of course even with the after marker extended mags but I still like the p 90 over all
the P series in general were just absolute tanks, nothing fancy for sure and yeah, my dad carried one as his primary duty weapons for quite a few years. he never has been a Glock guy like a lot of other LEOs
Good test ! You say "unscientific" but I think that's the best way for any individual to make a determination.
whle apprecaited, you would not believe the amount of trolling and hate that i get sometimes with videos (not good enough for some reason or another). what i try to do here on the channel is use things, test things, feature things in a more "normal" way rather than going to some type of extreme.
I have both pistols the p90 has better trigger than p89. As witch gun prefer shoot I enjoy them both why own them both.
Owned several old Rugers and luv ‘em. You can swap a P95 trigger into the P89 and it reduces the trigger travel quite a bit. Look at pictures of each model and see the difference. Made mine nicer to shoot and I was more accurate after
Having not watched yet, I will vote p89 as more accurate. This is solely based on me also shooting P89
The Ruger P Series is SUPER accurate in single action. I'm surprised any of those 2 were off at all in a bench.
well "off at all" is a very subjective thing. coudl easily be me, no one is perfect, right 🤣😂 hand yeah, love me some P series, always have, P90 is my favorite, they are just absolute tanks
@CloverTac the Ruger P is my first pistol. The 90. Great gun. I'm thinking a p89 or p85 just to have a 9mm version. Total bricks, but accurate bricks.
I'd say 9mm. I owned the p90. Awesome pistol ❤ 😂want the p89 9mm. Just ordered the finger grips for it. Love the feel of the pistol. Smooth teigger pull. Very mean looking !!
Thanks for this
you bet, appreciate the comment
Why does the p89 have a pin or a screw on the frame above the front of the trigger gaurd that the p90 doesn't have?
maybe i don't know what you are talking about but there is a pin on both of them in that area
maybe check this out ruclips.net/video/97k5MfT8_AE/видео.html
Fifty feet is kinda long IMO. I practice at 25 because I figure “inside the Home” distance is what Handguns are for.
Although I see a Good Guy with a Gun just took out a mass shooter in an Indiana Mall..Good Video. Thanks.
first, this is an accuracy test, not a defensive practice video.... that said, yeah, agree 100%, most defensive encounters are going to be much, much closer if not point blank.
Ruger p95 DC I've heard that gun since I was 15
solid
Owned both and the p 90 shot more accurate for me. Did a dry run with a p90 right out of the box for a police qualification, got near perfect on my score.
the reason i have this P90 is because my dad has one and he actually carried it as his duty weapon for many years back in the day, so i believe ya
I like that unscientific version 👍🏻
pretty easy to do when you are not a scientist or have scientific instruments :) thanks for the comment
Ruger P90 is my gun.
can't argue with that
2/1/21 Rolled on to this vid on autoplay following today's Live Chat! Cool to catch up with the past. #1
I think the p89...let's see
My P89DC (and P91DC) are about as accurate as yours. But my P90DC shoots groups about half the size of yours. Slightly more accurate than my sheet metal Sig P220. I guess I got lucky on that one. Something I noticed. On the later guns Ruger switcher to a linkless barrel and accuracy suffered. No idea why.
nah, probably more likely that you are just a better shooter... or could be ammo too, lots of factors go into accuracy, these are just mean to be fun and give a general idea.... certainly not scientific or anything... thanks for sharing
I have a p89 and my accuracy is not quite as good as yours but I like the soft recoil a lot better than the.45. I'd rather hit what I'm aiming at than be all over the place with a bigger round. IMO 9mm is a good round, and another plus is that it's way cheaper than 45apc.
yeah, nothing wrong with 9mm for sure. i have the P90 because my dad carried one as a duty weapon for years, not because i particularly love the 45 acp round. thanks for sharing
The 45 acp
My P89 is very accurate so I'll go with that.
P89 #1
Yes!
I suspect the P89 at distance just because of velocity
I would think the 9mm would be a little more acurite.
so were you surprised at all?
@@CloverTac Maybe a little, but every gun is different so you never know which will be more accurate despite it's caliber. At least that's what I think.
P89
9mm
I think the .45 will be more accurate
9mm should be more accurate, its moving faster...
thanks for the comment and no, they shouldn't, at least not because of velocity. if you take a look at match ammunition and precision shooters you will find that seldom do they us ammunition that is as fast of a velocity as most of the commercially available types out there... they are slower. match 22lr for example is almost always subsonic, well under 1,100FPS where a lot of other offerings easily exceed 1,200FPS. but then again, we are talking two totally different calibers here with the Rugers too, so it is sorta like comparing apples to oranges, there is a limited number of attributes you can compare and in this case speed isn't one of them. 45 acp at 9mm speed would likely be far more inaccurate and group worse when compared head to head... but the same would likely apply if you bumped the 9mm down to the 45 acp speed too, that is too low for that particular projectile. when weight, sectional density, etc all comes into play, it just isn't in that optimal range anymore. hey, appreciate the though experiment here! actually got to use some of my knowledge gained from years of experience reloading ammunition. :)
P89
