I agree! If they put the toxicity to the side, there is sooo much good wrestling and storylines right now. Just by watching the other promotions, we get a deeper & richer storyline for so many individuals- Ethan Page, Shawn Spears, Cody Rhodes, Joe Hendry (when he arrives)- etc
Ironically he works for one of the worst perpetuators of the toxicity in whatculture. I wonder why he never calls them out tho...
this was my second NXT ple i watched and it was super fun. They are really building some great young talent. Lets keep the pipeline full.
Do your self a favor and just go watch every Takeover of the Black and Gold era. From like 2015-2019 it was undebatable the best wrestling show there was
@@nateputerbaugh5709 thank you I left wrestling mid 2000 period. I graduated college and was working a ton getting established. I followed Jim Cornette pod cast from like day one. Finally this past fall I finally got curious and caught raw, and I fell back in love with wrestling. I have seen a bunch of asuka's nxt matches and some others. Iyo sky, Kairi, saw rhea Ripley vs piper. I wish I would have seen when it first came out.
Heatwave was incredible. Have to say, that jumping canadian destroyer pin breakup is probably my favorite pin breakup ever. Just so ridiculously good. Popped me BIG.

This PLE was a great reminder of why I love NXT: Hungry talent, trying their damndest to put on exciting matches while telling engaging stories!
Even though big names like Bron, Carmelo, and Tiffany have gone on to the main roster, Heatwave was a great showcase for the rising main event talents like Oba, Sol, Je’von, and Ethan. It was even a great reminder that Shawn Spears can really go when he’s given the opportunity.
People need to stop sleeping on NXT. Heatwave not only blew MiTB out of the water, it was one of the best PPVs of the year. This was a TAKEOVER-caliber show of old. containing a card of incredibly talented 20-year-olds. It also, shows that the Performance Center program works and kills the stigma of "WWE doesn't have any Fresh young talent." Oba Femi vs Wes Lee was the match of the Night for me. Oba Femi is just a monster, doing that release F5 and launching Wes Lee was insane. The Ruler of the North American Title continues to impress. Kelani Jordan and Sol Ruca put on one of the best Women's matches of the year, so match that it sent Meltzer into a bullshit rant about them just being "gymnasts." and the match being an "exhibition match" yet still comparing it to Ospreay/Ricochet. Which completely kills her narrative. If it was an AEW match he would have blown his load and praised it. But Kelani and Sol have very bright futures. Frazer/Axiom vs Chase U was another solid match, I expected a title change but it was still worth the watch. Roxanne Perez/Lola Vice was another great match. Lola legitimized herself as a future champion and pushed the Prodigy in ways very few have. It took 5 Pop Rocks to put her down, and even with the slight botch, Roxanne recovered and called an audible to keep the matching flowing. Now we just need to build up for Roxanne vs Giulia. The main event was another insane match, at 20 years old Je'Von Evans is taking huge risks and insane spots. Spears was the veteran and the Page/Trick feud continues. All 4 man gave it their all, and we had the most unexpected but creative title change in a while. The ALL EGO ERA now rules NXT... but for how long? And finally in a quick tease at the end... WE BELIEVE as we got an image of Joe Hendry. NXT continues to cook.

The NXT North American men’s championship was 5 stars the women’s was 4.75 the men’s tag team was 4.5 the women’s tag was 3.75 and the NXT title was 4.75 stars
Meltzer dismissing them as gymnasts is just peak irony. That guy has zero self awareness.
All 4 of their stocks skyrocketed in that main event, all of them legit perfect

All 5 matches hit, not one missed. Genuinely one of the best PLEs of the year imo
It was a really fun show. It's funny how back in the day, you could just pull anyone interested in wrestling off the street. Now it's like... I've been a decorated gymnast since I was a small child.
By the main event, I was so overstuffed with wrestling that I checked out. Got to give that one another watch.

Every time I see Sol Ruca I walk away thinking that she is going to be one of the ones to watch in the future. Scratch that; she is one to watch now.

Wes Lee v Oba Femi was David v Goliath better than I can remember for real long time. Perfectly told Story.

I love watching Je'Von Evans get big pushes. He was a main eventer in my local indie promotion and is phenomenal. Definitely see many championships in his future
I barely watch WWE anymore other than some major PPV's and clips from major events on youtube, but I had some spare time at work last night (graveyard shifts can be the worst or the best) so I watched Heatwave and oh my god, that Kelani Jordan vs Sol Ruca match was fantastic! Especially that springboard 360 clothesline, that should 100% be a new finisher and call it Clothesline From Heaven 😂😂
Claudio Castagnoli vs The Beast Mortos formerly Black Taurus was really good.
Oba Fami vs Wes Lee was so fire, it was my Highlight and hyped me for the ppv from the beginning.

Heatwave is my second best PLE of the year, one of my pet peeves is how fans compare everything, both heatwave and MITB were awesome. Wwe fans are eating good right now, the hateful and insufferable fans who compare everything can stay over far away lol.
In a year or so, when he has gained a bit more experience, Oba is going to have a true banger with Gunther. Their characters are similar when you think about it.
I loved Heatwave and I did enjoy it more than MITB. I'm not sure what is wrong with comparison. How else do we determine quality without comparing things?
First, quality is subjective... Second, comparing things unnecessarily is one of the worst things about wrestling

Heatwave being better than mitb or the other way around is one thing, using it to say nxt or wwe is trash is another.

We got some good wrestling this weekend, and at the end of the day that’s all that matters.

Just like NXT PLEs are presented differently than "main roster" WWE PLEs.
Sorry, but there's no way that Ethan Page and Kehlani Jordan would hold world titles on the "main roster" anytime soon.

I know WWE has said no one will be in NXT forever and that they either get called up or get let go, but I think Andre Chase and Chase U should be a permanent stable in NXT, i could even see them starting something where when people from Chase U get called up, Andre Chase could start holding graduation ceremonies 😆 I love Chase U but I don't know if that would work as well on the main roaster, and I think NXT should have a couple people that are just mainstays or pillars of the brand.

This was the first NXT ppv I've seen in years and I was really impressed all the matches were good imo. I was genuinely shocked by how solid this roster is and the booking was good too.

The world title match at MITB accomplished something Vince could never that match elevated the storyline of 4 guys and arguably 6 including Finn balor and gunther

Since Page walked by a sign that said "WE ARE THE NORTH" in the opening, I was actually expecting some involvement from Josh Alexander, to help Ethan win...or even lose. Then start a feud with his former partner.
To me, it's the 2nd NXT PLE that I thought was better than the main roster PLE on the same weekend. All of WWE has been better with DX in charge of both shows. Explains why WWE has looked a lot like the Attitude Era. Good job guys.
Kurt wasn't a comedy character from the start. We just grew to know him better with time.
Comedy gimmicks don't work, because they're for comedy. Kurt is an olympian badass who happens to have a funny bone.
Obi Femi needs to take his time entering the WWE but when he does it would be great for him to have a Hurt Locker like Faction and for him to become a champion quickly. With so many things clearly planned from not to Mania it would only be right to bring him up next May. Obi Femi and OTM including Jadia

This was better than all of AEW PPV’s combined this year , the tag team title match has to be a contender for match of the year for sure .

When everyone got called up I thought it would take a while for NXT to start cooking again but nope 2 months and is pure fire.
The only issue is there isn’t anybody ready to be woman’s champion apart from Roxanne. Doesn’t mean she doesn’t have opponents just no one else is ready to be champ. But that’s why she’s there to be the top of that woman division until some else is ready
People who accuse you of "just liking everything" should go listen to episodes of your podcast reviewing Raw in the 2019-2021 timeframe. You've never been shy about voicing displeasure when the product is bad.
We couldn't afford to see MITB but we went to Heatwave and we were not disappointed 🎉

I was there for all three days. NXT Heatwave as i predicted was the best of all three nights.
Whoever forced Chase to wrestle in a sweater must hate him sooooooo much.
Roxy is so damn good I don't know if there is anyone who poses a credible threat. Maybe Stardom's Giula comes in like fire and they have her take the title from Perez to make her huge deal but like, every match Roxanne is in I 100% believe in every little thing she does and all the little things she does are so good. Her positioning, her awareness, the way she sells the KO from the backhand like she got ragdoll'd but rolls out of the ring. Perfection.
I liked Money in the Bank, but Heatwave was right up my alley.
It could just be two hours of Oba Femi and Wes Lee forgetting that wrestling isn’t real and punching each-other in the face, and I wouldn’t mind. It could just be Roxanne Perez’s fantastic selling after she just barely managed to beat Vice to retain. It could be the actually really fun swerve right at the end.
It was just spectacular. Could do with fewer video packages for the weekly show, but still such a fun PLE

I get your point but saying “X was better than Y” doesn’t necessarily mean you didn’t enjoy both. That might just be someone’s genuine opinion and that’s also ok. Personally I don’t know if one was better than the other but I will say the nxt ppv felt slightly more focused and streamlined, probably because the lack of ladder matches and 6 man tags
Is there going to be an ups and downs?
I don’t like the better than MITB comments because they were different shows for different crowds and the women’s MITB was a match of the year contender. But I did like the two co main events here a lot.

The NXT roster has surpassed the Smackdown roster. The Titles on NXT also move way more and give opportunity to many more young stars. A lot more unpredictable which I love!

I haven't seen enough Ethan Page to judge him as a wrestler but with this ego gimmick I see nothing there and no reason as to why they took the title off Trick and put it on him from the little I've seen of Spears he would've made more sense. That aside every match was good at Heatwave Femi and Wes were great Lani and Sol need to have a career rivalry like Trish and Lita and like you said Simon all credit due to Roxanne for instantly following up the smudged second to last Pop Rox with a definitive last one, she's ready to move on. Btw where the hell is Rusev?? Is he done at AEW?
This is my honest opinion Forbidden Door was better than Clash at the Castle, MITB was better than Forbidden Door and NXT Heat Wave was better than MITB from an in ring standpoint. Shout out to Shawn he cooked for sure. MATCH OF THE NIGHT WAS CHASE U VS AXIOM & NATHAN
I thought the main event was turning into a silly spot fest until the kid almost snapped his legs on the dive. The finish made me laugh because I’ve never seen this before. Page getting the belt without knowing what happened gave me that warm fuzzy feeling.
Love Ethan Page. Treated a bit shoddily by AEW.
The women saved the weekend again
The whole show was great minus the Ethan Page thing, I personally thought the Women's North American title match was match of the night, that tag match was pretty close tho. I think NXT is on fire right now, and even though I think Ethan Page is a wank pheasant, I totally get that Trick chasing the title is just gonna get him even more over, if thats even possible #Justice4Trick

ETHAN PAGE won because SHAWN SPEARS showed that old AEW solidarity, apparently. Otherwise, the ending made no sense. Speaking of which, that 4 man match was a high spot match, with a bunch of young guys, that would ft in just fine on an episode of Dynamite or Collision (expect for the classic quirky WWE ending). Since I prefer AEW, I love seeing matches like this anywhere. Great match. Weird ending.

I couldn't figure it out either. Did Spears not see the pin and was continuing the brawl? Did he just want anyone but Trick to win? Or like you said, AEW bros. Was weird, but so much fun.
It's hilarious how many wrestling fans don't understand this. Also completely unsurprising. Trick hit Evans with his finisher. Spears pulled Trick out of the ring so that Trick wouldn't win the match.
Good for Ethan page dude has earned it.

It was fabulous i saw the whole show i loved each match except for Lola vice and Roxanne Perez look Valerie Loureda is a pretty good MMA fighter but those skills don't necessarily transition into wrestling
