I absolutely agree. I love the album Opaline and Somewhere In the Middle takes me back to some great years. That song is my favorite rock song along with Give. JR's voice is so unique. He turned me on to live music. Before him I wasn't a fan of live music. It took buying and listening to "Live... Greetings from the Flow State" to get me in to live music. Now I cannot get enough of his live music.

Met JR in Tallahassee after a concert at Floyd's. He sat with us for a good while and was so real, kind and present. This song gave words to a time of depression in my life and brought me company. I have a close and loving family, but this song sat next to me in a different way. JR has one of the most phenomenal voices on this planet. His writing is beyond brilliant. I first heard Dishwalla when I was in the military probably almost 24 years ago. Back when you had to go to a music store and I put those headphones on to test out a CD and listened to some samples of “and you think you know what life’s about.”Every time I hear this it brings me back to Arizona. So much love for this album. Please keep it up!

I was myself quite depressed when I first heard this song. Beeing in my teenage years, I had just moved to another country, had no friends, left most of my family behind.. This song was a true bliss, could totally relate to it, and I kept it on my playlist for years.. Still love it! Thank you for making something this beautiful!

I don't know if many of my countrymen have heard of your songs but trust me, your songs have always, always inspired me. I remember my dad passing away and I remember this song. Helped me through the thick and thin. Last year, my girl friend of 10 years passed away. I lost a lot by then, and I didnt want to wake up. Thank you for everything. Your fan for life.

Absolutely beautiful version! Thank you for being honest about your history with depression. I've had a recent bout with the hell of it - It's such an extremely lonely and defeating battle. I had listened to the earlier versions of this song as it represented how I felt even before I knew why you wrote it. You don't want another day of disappointment. Your only want your mind to stop beating you down. Fortunately I have been able to help others (with empathy) since I am now a nurse in a psychiatric facility and I see the same battles starting in teens and destroying lives. It is so sad to see lives wasting away and the stigma of mental despair makes them want to hide away. I will be there for them just as you have opened up. Thanks again!

Thank you for writing this song. It's what helped me fall asleep during a really difficult time 20 years ago when a childhood friend took her life. I couldn't sleep for a week until I gave her eulogy and said my goodbyes. This song (well, the original album arrangement that I had on CD at the time) gave me a sense enough of peace that I could let go of the sadness of the day long enough to rest.

Songs are emotions, they are not good or bad, right or wrong, but they can be the reflection of where you are on the road, for me I recognize this as a crossroads I have been to, in all its movement it is strangely yet very still and quiet, hauntingly beautiful, it does not depress me to listen, quite the opposite, it gives that place validation and allows me to carry forward, so it becomes a song of hope.

I've said it for years, Dishwalla was one of the best bands from the 90's and didn't get the recognition deserved for it. Everyone knows "Counting Blue Cars", I remember my excitement hearing songs I recognized immediately in movies and TV shows, and of course seeing Dishwalla on stage at a bar in Charmed. I love Dishwalla even to this day.

I wish Dishwalla would just get back together already
They are together playing, on tour now. My understanding is JR doesn't want to live that life anymore and has chosen solo work on his terms. The rest of Dishwalla wants to continue on so Justin Fox is their singer now. Can't blame them for wanting to continue as Dishwalla nor blame JR for wanting to do what he wants. I would assume JR has given them his blessing though I don't really know the relationship status. Maybe JR will want to come back someday but where does that leave Fox if he does?
And Justin Fox does an exceptional job. Saw them in Phoenix last November. I walked into the show a total skeptic and walked out excited for new material (which they are working on).
Justin Kinkade I saw them in Tucson earlier this year & while the show was excellent....it felt like it was lacking. There were only a handful of fans though which was hard to believe. The new lead singer did an admirable job....buuut I still wish they would re-unite.
I had already bought my Phoenix tickets when I found out they had scheduled a Tucson show. The show I went to didn't have many people either.
Keep in mind JR wrote almost every dishwalla song.

"Until I Wake Up" has always been one of my faves but this one takes the cake. I happened to be in the middle of making rice crispy bars when this version came on in the queue and it made me stop dead in my tracks and brought me to tears!
