Possibly unpopular opinion, the MK4 Golf has aged the best out of all versions. Believe it or not the MK4 came out 26 years ago! It still doesn’t look particularly old fashioned and you still see loads of them on the road. The styling was considered a bit boring and plain at the time but it’s aged well. Interior too with the relatively high transmission tunnel, not common at the time but all modern cars have it.
Owner of one for 17 years. Best car ever built in my humble opinion And btw, never had any issue at all with my black leather seats until I ripped the driver side this year. So, no issues over 16 years is pretty good with a car of 140k miles
The Golf R32 mk4 or mk5 are unreal puts a smile on my face every time I drive mine Love the interior on your that’s quite rare Great video great channel
Good video, but I need to add a few things. The 3 door Version of any golf looks so much better IMO. Sagging doors? Never seen them, and I currently have a mk4 GTI with 150k miles and had a mk5 as well. Also a VR6 can produce an amazing sound that's not like the rattle can in this video. I have a 3.6 CC with Magnaflow mufflers and it has a deep rumble like a V8, without all that rasp that makes your neighbors want to kill you. The timing chain is another thing. On the 24v cars it usually doesn't need replacement at all, certainly not at 100k. There are plenty out there that have 200k on the original chain. Change the oil at least every 5k and don't treat it badly. These are super solid cars.
Agree with everything you say but I have a 3 door 170k miles GTI and my drivers door is sagging have to slam it to shut it properly door lock catches the pin on the inside so hes somewhat right lol
great review ive just done one for my channel they are absolutely awesome i sooooo want one wish i brought one a few years back when prices were lower :/ all the best Langers
Great review, 3 door shell is also more ridged than the 5 door. I’ve never had door sag on any mark 4 cars and I’ve had loads. That said, my current mark 4 R32 only has 7k miles from new. Cheers
i dont mean to be offtopic but does anyone know a method to log back into an Instagram account? I somehow lost the account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me.
@Imran Chandler thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and im in the hacking process atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
good video ive had mine 8 years every time i went to sell her she gives me a reason not to 51,000 miles standard car with millteck cat back in tornado red i dont do big miles so can justify it but sadly a golf R forces sale this summer but its taking a golf R to do it theres nothing quite like it out there
I'm 22 this year and got a new job this year which means I only need to drive 10 mins to get the train and back. So tempted to get a decent low mileage one of these in the summer and sell my diesel Fabia Monte Carlo 😂
Great video and great car mate. I am looking at getting one with 252k KM on the clock. the rear diff is binding at lower speeds, could be rear clutches not slipping when they re supposed to. Any other worries that I should be aware of? thanks!
This car costs a lot in maintenance...I mean, you can be lucky but even with low mileage cars do not underestimate the amount of money that you'll throw in it for random parts that can fail (and they fail), just listing some: fuel pump, various electric parts, Haldex ecu or rear diff parts (quite a nightmare if something breaks), engine vents, belts, AC compressor and other bits and pieces. VW parts do not come cheap and most dealers don't have the experience to work (or better to troubleshoot) on these so go to a specialist if you can. I loved mine indeed but just do the math before buying as it's not an 80s car that you fix with a hammer.
You state that the R you are reviewing is sixteen years old.Mine is identical, but if you add sixteen years to an 03 MKIV, that would mean it is now 2019. What gives ??
I do like these and its a sure fire classic but they are all show and no go. The average diesel will outpace one of these nowadays so its hard to justify the fuel consumption...
I have a tt gen 1 with the same engine and murder my friends bmw 535d, funny cause we both have matching hp numbers, i got 271hp and he has 272hp but almost double the torque and still I fuck him from standing still and rollin so ur claim is bullcrap imo. And then we are not even talking an average diesel but a beast of a diesel.
I got high flow cats, milltek non res, k and n air intake, and ecu reflash. Right around 270 as well. Sure its not the fastest thing in the world but its quick.
Ryan No Thanks If I would have wanted the fastest I would have bought a 1.8 turbo and have it tuned to 400hp or even more but the vr6 has so much more character, so much better sound and power delivery, it makes me smile every day and thats more important then anything.

I've had an Evo X, GC STi, 370Z, and an E92 M3, but this... This car I miss the most by far. I never should've sold you 😭
I've never owned a car that makes me smile so much as my mk4 R32 and I don't think I ever will.
Absolutely NOTHING better than that VR6 sound!!! Wow
The Golf R32 mk4 or mk5 are unreal puts a smile on my face every time I drive mine
Love the interior on your that’s quite rare
Great video great channel
Good review man but can barely hear you talking!
I prefer the golf V R32 over the IV R32, but yeah, they are amazing!

Beautiful car, always been my favourite since they were made.

Do you still have this beast of a car 3 years later?

from my local VW dealer - can see the Martins sticker in the back window

I fell out of love with Golfs after the Mk II. 16v Mk II in oak green or a G60 Rallye for me ✅
Hi, nice video. How to get a classic car insurance? Are these r32 comes into classic cars? Road tax is also very high.
road tax is very low for what it is
Nice review! Thanks
How did u go about m.o.t with it been decat pal

Thanks for watching... Personally I'd steer away from that, sounds like it could be a money pit, and that's a lot of KM!

Nice video, but there is something wrong with the audio.
🔥
Aside from the Golf 16V MK2, The next and last best sounding Golf is the MK4 GOLF R32.
I WANA KNOW THE NAME OF THAT ARTIST OF MUSIC STARTING

Badges are in wrong place rear to high and to far to the left - front badge on wrong Clip on grill needs moving to the left
Mate great review but, get your voice volume up. You will get more subscribers if you are arsed
How has this guy not lost his license?
spacers don't mess with your diff 🤦♂️
30 mpg ? Impossible, my tdi 66kw on 225/45r17 does like 35 mpg city
Makrinus this is 30mpg in England the mpg system UK uses is different to the USA
r32 will do 35mpg on a run

BakerOne the car featured is a 2002, this was made in 2017. You do the maths...
Very nice video bro
saggy 3 doors? Really?
What's up with 3 doors?
its not a v6 buddy its a vr6 dig difference.
weeman860 wee V6/Vr6... it’s still 6 cylinders arranged in a V.
This guy in an American prison....lmfao
I thought German streets are bad😳
How it feels driving a 1.4 mk4 with a hole in the exhaust hahaa
Terribly loud exhaust note. Such a shame....
Sounds like a shed
@@seventeesweremagic yeah okay, jealously.. 🤔
I do like these and its a sure fire classic but they are all show and no go. The average diesel will outpace one of these nowadays so its hard to justify the fuel consumption...
I kind of agree, my friends new 320D Touring BMW feels AS FAST but I would say though that the exhaust noise makes up for it.

swansmeister turbo the vr and it will out perform the 1.8 in every way
Can’t hear a fecking word you’re saying
music waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too loud, speach way too low. Stopped watching because of this. Shame.
