- amzn.to/3TyBrJw USA-made Spring tools are a unique way to hammer something. With weight and a bit connected by a strong spring, a simple pullback and release pilots a precision amount of force in a direction of your choosing. Great for small jobs where care, precision and the risk of damage is possible. Great solutions to many jobs.

Doc, these are the Bees Knees. I bought several sets of these, in different head shapes, lengths, and "intensities", some rated for 1500 pounds, some 3500 pounds, of impact force respectively. Initially thought it was a gimmick, but saw some real world usage videos, and I was sold. Tons of applications, very versatile, and very robust, I haven't experienced any premature wearing or damaged tips. I also placed the most pronounced shaped tips in my vehicles for emergency usage, to brake out windows with almost 0 force/effort needed. I also have seen Police carry these in tiny form, with a clip attached, edc'd, in shirt pocket, to bust out windows lickedly split 💥. I'm a big fan of these implements, just be sure you're getting the real deal, as "Spring Tools" are the originals, and there are tons of cheap knockoffs, that implode with very light usage. Not sure if "Spring Tools" are selling to other manufacturers (ie- "Mayhew"), to be rebranded, which is common for tool companies, but please be aware before purchasing. Thanks Doc for the video, great content as always, 🙋♂️, -Paul.
Oh man I asked for some locksmithing tools and man did you deliver!!!
What door gives you exterior access to the hinge ? Lol
Lots of lockboxes have external hinges, and you would be surprised how many people install doors wrong.
@@forteandblues thats a RIP lol
You would be the coolest Grandpa ever
I have two spring tools, primarily for roll pins. They work very well, especially in tight areas.
Love that eastwing hammer. I have a few hammers as most do and that Leather handle polished Eastwing is my "house" hammer. It never sees outdoors or a job site. I primarily use Vaughan's for my building needs and site use.
Thanks again brother for another great video.
Always have my spring punch in my pocket for work. Sets nails, removes pins
Good to see you again Doc!
Thanks for stopping by again. Today shouldn’t be too expensive.
I just received the Mayhew 20pc punch and chisel set on Amazon and the quality was amazing
I keep one in the door of my vehicles for glass breaking, and the metal center punch with the hardened tip is a daily driver for me. I like it better than the auto center punches.
I have a spring marking one for making a nice neat dent in metal before drilling it. Very handy.
Hello again Doc
Thank you for another Great Video 👍 I have seen these tools only on RUclips. I do like the idea. Again thank you 😊
I have a Mac tools branded set I bought years ago. My favorite use is to knock the center pin from pop riviets to make them easier to remove. Lots of window regulators/glass were held in with rivets, not the kind of think you want to use a hammer and punch on. Knock out the steel pin and the aluminum rivets drill super easy.
Great video
The chisel tool works great for knocking the heads off pop rivets.
Absolutely!
You had me at "F=ma stopping". Another great video, Doc. Thx!
That college really pays off.

You need to check out spring tools impact driver and there stamp set
Doc.. I ordered a ton of these tools 2? Years ago, everyone of them are stamped with the Snap-on logo 😁🤘
Much more useful than a $79 titanium prybar.
check out the snap on ones manufactured by spring tools rebranded by snap on but the snap on ones are spec'd at a higher psi force.
I've first seen these things in one of deviant ollam's talks. I need to get myself one of those.
Great for getting through locked doors with exposed hinges (if the need arises)
I want all of them! but which one is most versatile in your opinion?
love your channel man. I just bought a very highly rated "Coast" headlamp. I love it, 1200 lumen output, magnetic base to turn it into a stationary flashlight, and wide to narrow beam adjustment. Any chance you wanna do a video on headlamp comparison?
I love my spring tools, they were nicer than using a hammer and punch when I was building the exo cage. I'm glad you're showing off Mayhew and Spring tool's offerings rather than Snap On's obscenely priced copy (assuming they're not just branded Mayhews.).
I believe Spring Tools makes Snap-On's for them.
Snap-on and mac are both made by spring tool
They make a window breaking tool that the guys on my department swear by compared to a normal center punch
Clever!!!
I've had one of the Spring Tools center punches for some years. It's 'ok' I suppose, filling the gap between when a conventional & automatic center punch isn't practical. So far, I've only used it on Aluminum.
If you work on race cars, they can be your best friend 🤘
2:34 but non of them made with artificial diamond tip or walframium.
Never knew this existed? May even open a watch case?
Probably a little rough on watches. I use these tools ruclips.net/video/9WFymafFe3c/видео.html
Bunglers love this tool. Always keep your hinge pins on the IN side (or get the anti-burglar set-screw type of hinges, if the pin must be on the out side).
you should take a look at the video vim tools just put out, tool Tuesday episode 1 by vim tools..
Which brand is better, Spring Tools or Mayhew?
Mayhew feels a little more solid but both are plenty good for most jobs.
Don't overstretch the spring. It's easy to do.
It's currently unavailable
I wasn’t satisfied with the Spring Tools center punch. I was trying to work to precise marks and it didn’t work for me. I’ll stick with my Starrett center punches
I get it. These are a somewhat crude solution to a precision task. And a Starrett center punch video is in the works.
@@lastbesttool awesome the Starrett center punches are the best I’ve found
doc do u actually work full time in the trades? or hobby?
Now I’m 100% hobby.
