Thank you Rivka! I love your tutorials. I am a newly reverted Muslim American woman who is trying to find a way to cover my hair while staying modern. Keep posting more- I'm looking forward to more!
I recently looked at a local GoodWill store, and found quite a few scarves I can use as Tichels. Always give your local GoodWill/Thrift store, a look! I got a Pashmina and three rectangular scarves all for $10 total!! Then I went to walmart's fabric section and got 4 fabrics to make into Tichels for less than $8 total!
@Jessii Carney - I refuse to give to Goodwill, because they’ve had a pretty negative reputation where I live; but I routinely donate to the Salvation Army when I can. SA has a program where they help people with utilities, if they’re in danger of having their power disconnected, and other charitable projects. I know people _personally_ that SA has helped. I’ve yet to met anyone helped by Goodwill. The best I’ve understood is that Goodwill had amassed millions by taking in items for free and selling them for pure profit. I don’t know of them truly giving back to help anyone, unless it’s a project they can use for good PR. I am happy you were able to find tichels you love, though… no matter where it is. 😃

You look lovely in that shade of blue/aqua, Rivka. I had no idea that those head coverings were made of several different scarves and ribbons. I’d love for you to do a tutorial on how you put them all together.
I love scarves! I have a trunk full of them. Some friends from the Middle East gave me some awesome scarves. Thanks for the tutorial on how to put them on!
First I wanted to say I enjoyed watching your video very much. Your personality was so fun and lively it brought great energy to the whole thing. I have a lot of scarves and have worn them since my early 20's but never knew of the tips you shared. I've been watching other videos and excited to try out some new head wraps. I'm an artist and work in and environment that I want my hair to be contained but I still want to be pretty. You just made my eyes widen with excitement! Thanks for sharing, and I learned the word Tichel!
YES! We need sets and collections because honestly, some of us have zero clue. Thank you for your comments regarding color and your skin tone. I actually never even thought about that.
I'm so glad you made this video! I had no idea what a tichel was, and this inspired me to buy a scarf and tie it in a bun around my hair. It looks great! :)
So helpful! I’m a Christian, but I have recently begun covering my hair most of the time and it has been difficult to find scarves! I had to resort to buying off amazon because I couldn’t find any in target or Ross!
Burlington? You were in Ontario, not far from me. Wow! I absolutely love your skirt and entire look. I posted a video about spirituality and head coverings today. Also mentioned your video on cultural appropriation and provided a link to your other channel (Wrapunzel). You are beautiful and women benefit from your work. Thank you
I have to say that i am not sure if i came by your channel by accident or divine intervention.I am a cast member at a local Renaissance faire where i live. My persona/Character that i portray is a Gypsy. i was looking for ideas for head coverings, hats, scarves etc that might have been used during the 15th century.i had decided scarves was the route i wanted to go when i came across your channel. wow am i impressed! your tutorials are easy to follow and understand and the many ways of adding color and texture with tichels is amazing. i may start wearing these for every day and not just as part of a costume.
Yes, the sets together would be great. I know I am a little late adding this comment but I have so much trouble matching and knowing what goes with what AND understanding how to do patterns so you taking the guess work out would be great. maybe an etsy or something like that would be good for you.
Shalom Rivka, Toda Raba! Love what you are doing with the tichel wraps and I think selling a twofer with the ribbon would make an excellent product to help those without the know how. Your tichel is always beautiful! Mood and tails do go together, as Jessie mentioned. Blessings and Shalom, Chayah
Love that you say to find colors that match your energy! You communicate so well, thanks for this information & your positive spirit. I like to wear headscarves for fashion (they are so beautiful!) and came across this video, which is excellent!
I know this video is a tad old, but I would LOVE if you came out with a collection of matching tichels and jewellery. I have a hard time figuring out what looks good together etc. I actually can go into meltdown mode if there are too many choices :)
Hi Rivka, I enjoy your videos and Yes! you should sell tichels and jewelry together. What a great idea! I love the blue tichels you are wearing in the video. They all match and are very beautiful together. I, unfortunately, do not have this talent, so it would be immensely helpful to me. I wish I had seen your video about where to buy tichels before I ordered them on line -- they were expensive, and to think I could've gotten them at Burlington for $4! Please make more videos! Take care. Carmel
@Rivka Malka Perlman - I do miss your tichel tutorials. One day, for funsies, I hope you’ll throw us a bone and make another tutorial. I’ve always struggled with matching tichels to my outfits. No one really makes tutorials on _how_ to choose, and layer, patterns and colors. As it stands, I am stuck in pretty plain, one color, tichels… because I’m not savvy enough to mix the patterns and textures you do. I miss your wisdom on this issue! 😊 Hope all is well! Still enjoying your content, as always. I still rewatch the older recipe videos (because I forget how to make them) so I can make the dishes you shared with us years ago. 😃
sure! It's a little hard to explain without a visual but what I usually do is put a solid one underneath. than spread out that thinner one on top and tie it in the bakc. then I put a ribbon on topfor an accent color. then I bring the two ends up.OR I just tie a solid tichel on and gather the thinner one as a ribbonaround my head and leave the strings hanging down or braided
Autumn Spring i am jewish...the hijab that muslim women wear is basically identical to what jewish women wear...it meets all the jewish standards and is worn for all the same reasons...you dont know what you are talking about and are rude
I really love the tickles and I love how you wear them. I think it is an amazing idea to put them together with jewelry. Go for it Rivka great idea for women that want to wear them😃
I think it would be a great idea! Have you ever used the infinity scarves for tichels? I just bought one because i couldnt resist the colors but its mainly worn as a cowl if its raining a little bit or crazy sunny and Im tending to the horses, goats and chickens. Id love to see if I could make a tichel out of it
I'm gonna have to start looking all over the place now for scarves, I really had no idea I could buy all these different scarves from all these places!💙
Color suggestions for Auburn redheads? I have blue/grey eyes and lots of freckles I get a splotchy reddish color to my skin but I'm a neutral pale color
I found some yesterday at Walmart for $3 and $5! Beautiful pashmina-style solids but not as thick, and thinner ribbon-style ones. I ha to really control myself to keep from buying ALL of them! :)
Hey Rivka, Just wondering if you could give us some ideas on ways to wear the tichel you were talking about at 6:05. I think you were in Burlington and it was the colorful/ kinda transparent one. I have many of those but cant find a comfortable way to wear them. Thanks for your time in these videos! Shalom, Hannah Beth
Thank you Rivka for your great advices and videos on how to buy and wear a tichel mitpachat, specially the one on how to wear it with glasses. I have one problem, the back weight of my tichel pulls the front - no matter how tied I wrap it - it just slide off my ears and from the top of head - specially after washing my hair. Any suggestion? Shalom
What a fun video!!! I always stop by the tichels in every store I'm in to see what's new. You mentioned wearing one for Shabbos - you don't wear a sheitel? Do most women at your shul wear tichels on Shabbos? I
I would just really like to find one tichel I can wear by itself that is the right size and shape for my head and offers multiple wrapping capabilities. Something good enough for everyday Cali weather and that would be good for a beginner. It sounds so much more simple in my head. I always end up buying the wrong size though.
Love ❤️ your Videos I’m Deborah Zamora from Bristol TN .. I attend Lion if Judah Synagoue .. but I so would love for you to teach me or us how to do the head dress like you wear I try but it not beautiful lol so I need you !!! 😂😂
love your top/shirt. all the modest clothing I've tried are skin tight. I am 'top heavy' and don't like that 'look'. I've been looking for some time and found zip. and suggestions?
I love watching your videos, thank you. I wish I could wear something like these, but I'm not the appropriate religion, so I don't know how people would feel about it. (Over the past few years, I've just been getting into more modest clothing and love head covering).
I always make sure to wear something underneath so that they dont slip. In general though, I find them so comfortable - I think your body temp adjusts
I think the girl at Payless looked absolutely amazing after you put the scarf on her head! The style really suited her.

Yes. We definately need More tichels and jewlery websites!
The lady at Payless looked so scared when you were putting the tichel on her, but I think she seemed to really like the way it looked afterward.
Stacy Homer she was like "I don't want this but I have to be nice, oh doesn't look bad, wait is that a Jewish thing, help me" lol

You are very good at putting the right colors/designs and jewelry together. Not everyone can do that.
