I’m losing my hair due to being sick with Lupus. I just wore a scarf for the first time last week because it’s now impossible to hide the hair loss. Thank you for this video, I felt more comfortable knowing that I didn’t look like an idiot with a half tied knot on my head and I felt better knowing how to make sure it didn’t slip off. Thank you!

Square scarves are my favorite. I just found a, Ann Klein scarf at the thrift store for $3.98 in perfect condition - Barukh HaShem! Your satin one is so lovely. I've tried & tried to find them online, but thus far they've been completely elusive : ( Thanks for sharing your techniques. You and RIvka make this mitzvah even more of a joy.
btw I used your idea of shower curtain rings on a hanger and now my tichels are so neat & organized!

Hi Andrea, I have been covering for several years and owe you a debt of gratitude for smoothing the way for me at the beginning with your videos and accessories as well as your encouragement (show the scarf who's the boss!)
Even nite, years later, I like to revisit your early tutorials, such as this one, every couple of years to correct sloppy habits that have credit into my tichel tying and to rediscover things I never got around to trying. Thank you so much for the tichel revolution you have been a big part of!

That's a question I don't even want to find out! I have a lot. I often get them for less than a dollar at vintage shops, receive as gifts, and had quite a few that I actually wore around my neck before I got married! So yes, I have a lot, but do not spend lots of $ on them. You can certainly start with having a few basics, but they are generally like any other item of clothes, so I like having options. You need to think of them as basically another part of you outfit (like a shirt/skirt).

:scarf with gold thread: "It's much more casual" lol
I guess to my eyes, anything that's shiny like that is actually the opposite of casual. But I'm a very odd little ginger and I tend to see things.....backwards.

Naw. ;-) The first one with lurex threads (where she made that remark) is made from thin cotton - I have bought them cheap at street fairs back in the day; they were quite the thing back in the 80's in my neck of the woods. They do have a casual feel. Now the first one was, I think, a nice heavy satin in a rich burgundy color or something like that. Think ball gown material. :-) Bit more special. :-)

I know this is about 8 years old, but still, I want to comment on your non-acknowledgment of those who comment on your videos. Without those people, the views you get, allow you to benefit from them. You may think your videos in their own right express that without actually expressing it, but they don't. You made money by the people, including me, who view and comment on your videos. I don't want you to comment on mine, but why do you not comment on those who thank you, and who complement you?

Thank you for your video. Even when I wear a velvet headband, the tichel will sometimes slip unless I do the double twist over the bun (towards the end of the video). But my life is very busy and I have chores to do outside. So sometimes I put a straight pin in and attach the tichel to my headband. So far, it has not damaged the tichels. ❤

Absolutely fantastic! There is nothing more attractive than a woman who desires to and does keep the mitzvot. If only the young ladies of our generation knew that this is what men really desire, a strong, feminine, modest, woman of faith. I am sure that the same goes for ladies of this type that they likewise desire a man that is chaste, modest, faithful to God and has Torah written upon his heart.

For the first style, I use thick ponytail elastic instead of trying to tie slippery fabric. Since it sits under the scarf next to my neck you cant see the elastic.
It's easier on the fabric, on me, its adjustable, perfect.
I like my scarf hanging down to cover my neck on a cold day. I'd do a turban if it was hot. With wet cotton fabric!

I would say 36x36 inches is the very minimum. My larger one is actually 47x47 inches; I think (don't have it handy right now). It depends, too, if you mostly want to do the first style; then small might work. If you want to do styles like the "Dutch Crown" a.k.a. Jerusalem Twist; you will want the larger, like the 47" ones. HTH!

Amazing! And such beautiful scarves. I bought my first tichel that has cords sewn onto the edges. It's super easy to tie and doesn't slip because it's cotton. Only problem is I can't wear it because in order to wear a mask you have to put it on first, then tie your tichel, and you cannot remove your mask while wearing the tichel at the same time.
