Another superb addition to Market Street and to Chandwell, Michael. It looks absolutely fantastic. Looking forward to seeing what you do next. Thanks very much, best wishes, Ian
Absolutely love your Inkscape tutorials. Easy to follow, and relevant to our many and varied railway modelling needs. As good as bought card modelling kits are, your approach Michael, shows the fantastic benefits of bespoke card modelling to create such a superb, and, [to give you the highest compliment possible] GRIM representation of our part of the country. 😉 I always look forward to Friday evenings... !!!
The building has turned out very well Michael. I do enjoy the precision of your modelling even to a straight line for the glue. The double layer to show peeling tarmac and the setts underneath was inspired. Stephen
Your videos are top of the list for me to catch up on, absolutely love the way you do things…so realistic and details are fantastic … looking forward to seeing more soon
Certainly look forward to EVERY video form Chandwell Inkscape tutorials, models, details, anything else is completely fascinating, educational and entertaining. Best of all - your videos inspire! Thank you. If only I could shrink myself to visit Chandwell as a real visit...bringing my umbrella of course...
Just found your channel and I must say your stuff is breathtaking, wouldn't believe its printed paper if I'd not seen you make them.Keep up the great work.
Your Inkscape videos are much more popular than you thought. Perhaps it's because you have many more subscribers than when you were constructing the Ironbridge Works unit. All of your videos are interesting and informative and I look forward to each one. I would like to see a step by step Inkscape series for a full building (front, back and 2 sides, with interior), starting from initial idea and paper mockup to completed building. (But that's just me). Keep up the great work and videos at Chandwell, Michael.
Thank you Anthony! I think the occasional Inkscape video to accompany my normal ones is the way to go, as people do seem to get something from them. Michael
Michael, Inkscape tutorials to make your buildings always fascinate me. CAD has always confused me and your approach is so straightforward that even I should "get it" eventually. Your "trainer" approach to the video, along with clear commentary and no unnecessary waffle are just what I need.
Thanks David. It turns out narrating my usual drawing thought process is quite a challenge, but I think I will be able to make something worthwhile. Michael
Thanks once again Michael….so many tips in this video….like the exposed cobblestones ( or setts as some call them) under the tarmac….simple but very effective. Personally I’m not keen on the Inkscape type video, but I still watch them. Cheers and stay safe Ron
Thanks Ron! I’ve come up with a plan that should suit everyone. I am recording an Inkscape-only video to accompany my next normal video so that those who want to watch it can, without putting off those who don’t! Hope it works out! Michael
I would love an Inkscape tutorial of something small, maybe a public toilet or newspaper stand. Something that can be done by in a short time frame and by a beginner... to give me confidence.
Hi Michael what more can be said, thoroughly enjoy your video's full of interest and fresh ideas thanks for sharing keep them coming in what ever format regards and stay safe..
Great as always Michael. Regards ballasting - I never spray the ballast beforehand ! I ballast the centre of the track first then drop the PVA along the side. Capillary action draws the mixture into the ballast without glue going over the railhead. For the sides I use a pipette and drip the glue carefully on top. Might take longer to do but wouldn't mean you having to cover everything up. Cheers Euan
Thanks Euan. That is interesting. I should try that approach as it sounds easier if more time consuming. It obviously works as a technique as your ballast is superb. Michael
Another fitting addition to Chandwell's skyline Michael. Great skill and patience on show! I'm up for another inkscape tutorial if you feel like it🙂 Intrigued now as to what's next in store... Andrew🙂
Something different next. I’m going to try to see if I can make a building just from a picture. No architect’s drawing to start from. And I will be making an accompanying video which may be hours long - just me in real-time drawing it all out in Inkscape. Some strange souls may enjoy that!! 😂🥲😅🤣 Michael
Brilliant! Yes please I'd love to see a tutorial on the use of Inkscape to plan your buildings. When I come to do my mining village I have photos of the "Row" I grew up on which show the 17th Century built cottages that I was born in and no model can re create these so I am intending to attempt my own so the Inkscape tutorials would be really beneficial for me.
If the next building is "14 North Parade", then a start-to-finish Inkscape tutorial would be good. I looks to be a relatively straightforward structure, and would be a good one for showing the simplest basics of the software.
Hi again your layout is starting to look great looking great i love it am going to download inscape i have a few little HO scale funfair rides that i might be incoprating in to another little diarama that i am planing to build after i have built my bus diramas you have a fantasic channel i dont have much money or i would support you i always keep an eye out for your videos please keep making more
Thank you Susan, that is very kind. I think you should give Inkscape a go… it is wonderful. Being a Channel Member is absolutely not expected or or necessary. I will always keep my videos completely free. I just love making them and reading people’s comments on them! Michael
I’m always up for more tutorials on Inkscape. I’ve occasionally thought about getting on of the Cricut type machines but have never liked the idea of having to learn new software. Now you have shown me how easy this sort of software can be but also that with a bit of care and planning I almost certainly don’t need one of those fancy cutters. Des.
Mikey... It has never ONCE occurred to me to use a ruler to apply a straight line of glue to a piece.... As always, you're a credit to us cardboard modellers bud - I've tried the card down spouts thing... In OO gauge it doesn't look quite right or at least I've not been able r make them look all that great... Tricky... I also didn't varnish a wall recently and it ended up doing that green stain thing....doh!!! Anyroad, good job bud!❤️👍 Edit: Yea go for it make it an INKScape tutorial, they're handy for folk to see tricks and techniques for building!
There’s nothing I can say that hasn’t already been said. Wow! Will have to do. Look forward to seeing the tutorial next week. What a great idea for the chimney pots. I wonder if they will work in 00 gauge? Thanks for sharing Michael. Roy.
I add much the same comment every time, but it doesn't diminish how great the build is. No two pieces of tarmac are the same, or un-dug-up for long, so differences in printed colour just add to the scene. I must admit I hadn't thought of adding a drop of paint to the pva for ballast - technique duly stolen. Cheers
Fantastic as always, with a good coat of acrylic varnish the buildings will be just hunky dory. Strange you did steps last week Im doing them this week with Piccadilly lift towers
I can’t wait to see your steps John. I expect they will be very precise and measured in the microns rather than millimetres! Assume you’re 3D printing? I enjoyed seeing the new liveried Pendolinos on Piccadilly recently. Michael
Excellent work, the whole building is really well thought out but those finishing touches take it across the line. I was wondering how to do chimney pots in n gauge for the Scalescenes terraced houses... now I know! I'd enjoy another inkscape tutorial, I'm just not sure on what as your inkscape videos have given me all I need to really get to grips with the program!
Thank you Robin. Sadly, the layout is built directly onto the permanent top of the cupboards in the garage, and will never move! If we move house, then Chandwell would have to be part of the sale! Michael

Hi Michael. Your current build always becomes my favorite. So…..I’m getting ready for a new favorite. Lol. Great video as always. See ya.
Thank you Norman! Michael
The building has turned out very well Michael. I do enjoy the precision of your modelling even to a straight line for the glue. The double layer to show peeling tarmac and the setts underneath was inspired. Stephen

That's a great idea. I am considering a boarded-up building. I had not considered one under construction. That's interesting! Michael

Yes it did!! 😅
if you have gaps like that you should have planting
Thankfully the gap can’t be seen. But bushes and weeds are always at the ready! Michael
