  • Best struggle free method of applying decals to any motorcycle tank .Step by step in close up detail .
The method used in this video is coined as the "Hinge Method" . Typically used on larger decals that could be difficult to land wrinkle free due to their sheer size or the need to form over compound curved surfaces. It is usually a good idea to apply decals over paint that has been clear coated first,
although as seen in this video ,decent results can be had without a clear coat layer . Most decals can be clear coated after application but always refer to the decal manufacturers recommendations to be absolutely certain. Any creases or wrinkles occurring during the application process are usually not repairable so it is very important to be patient and mindful during the procedure ,espesially on compound curved surfaces . Warming the decal and keeping the transfer paper wet while gently coaxing and forming the decal are key factors to success. Always be sure to push air bubbles and water away from the center of the decal to the outer edges as you go . After removing the top transfer paper , if there are any small air bubbles ,they can be flattened out by puncturing them with the tip of a needle and releasing the trapped air . As with most any job the ability to apply decals properly gets easier with experience. But with decals, the unfortunate part is that mistakes are typically quite noticable so take your time, learn from the pros and finesse your way to success.
Good luck , and remember ...Always " TRy'an Lean to be your bikes best mechanic "

Very nice tutorial, and an enjoyable clip on "how to tackle" the job 🤣... and I started thinking about decals for the gas tank on my Spyder 🤔... but then I realized after I remove all the tupperware to get my gas tank, and install the decals perfectly using the awesome tips in this video, and then reinstalling all that tupperware again... 🙄😳😟.. no one will see the decals hidden by all the body panels... 😔😭... kidding aside, excellent job and tutorial video to help others looking for some great tips & tricks !!! And as usual, your presentation is very entertaining, Ryan 👊😎👍👍

Very good job Ryan. My dad has done this many times and never hesitates to remind me of the difficulty. I need to do it when I repaint my RZ350 hybrid this winter so I will for sure take these tips with me.

Thanks very much .Hey you're lucky to have your dad as an ace in the hole when you re- decal your RZ 350. His expertise will be extremely valuable. Sounds like a very cool winter project. Could be a great opportunity for you to record the whole process and post on youtube. I bet it would do really well. I'd definitely watch it and share it. Thanks again, cheers 🍻

Didnt think of the heat gun, We always get in too much of a hurry and try to make it work which leads to a crappy decal install. Great video TR ...........................JB..
