They’re so fun, zero consequences and so many to scoop up! The gentle pop up is key 👌🏽 and popping up further forward is something I learned from kassia meador, I used to always pop up too far back and loose all my momentum!
These productions are really very good and that's coming from a locked down reserved Brit - ha ha!! What has stuck with me from this piece is the skill level required to ride thigh height. or less. I have a little experience sailing and racing and some of the best people are the ones good in light airs. So many questions. Is that your go to board? Do you travel with it and if so how? I've had airlines turn me away recently with a seven foot board in a travel bag.
Hey thank you, that means a lot to to me! I do think little waves are actually harder than bigger ones sometimes. There are also more little waves that go unridden because everyone is waiting for the bigger ones! More waves more fun! I have been mostly surfing a 9' 4" Walks on Water model from Almond Surfboards, and I've traveled with it from California to Bali many times now. You do have to pack it right, with the right board bag, and pick the right airline to make sure they'll accept big boards. I have used mainly Singapore Airlines and Garuda and they've been very good with big boards.
@@saltynat Thanks for the info. I remember you talking about a Walks on Water board in a previous video. I'll go back and have a look. I'm having doubts about my longboard for smaller clean surf. It's got some rocker and a pin tail. It's been really weird as I was looking at Lombok for a trip, thinking about somewhere with smaller clean surf when your video on it dropped. Must've been just serendipity. Anyway, thanks again.
Great video and great tips, especially #4, delicate popup is key
Love surfing small waves too! Also love the tip on gentle pop up, that’s something I’m working on!

Thank you for sharing these tips!
Thank you for watching - so happy to hear they were helpful for you! ☺️
I'm going to practice popping up gently. I definitely need that :)
We can practice together ❤️✌🏽
Sweet! Sent this to a friend who is just learning here in SC :)
Amazing, thank you so much! Such a good place to learn, hard but good haha.
