From the number of sessions I've had at salons I've always found it better not to shave for at least a day or two before so that you have a bit of stubble appearing. I've found if you can smell the hair burning then the IPL seems to work much better. Have you tried it with more stubble. I have dark hair like yourself and i want to know before I purchase one on Groupon at £190 whether you think it's worth it at that price?
17/03/14 have just bought one of these, really liked your 2posts, about to try it out on my boyfriend, as we both prefer the smooth version, hope I don't electrocute him!will get back to you!!!!!!!!!
How did it work on your BF? What parts of his body did you do? I read that I shouldn't use it on certain parts but those are the parts I bought it to use on...
I've been reading up on these. I don't think you are supposed to wax or pluck the hair before you use the system. Just shave so that there is still a root for the laser to zap. I'm planning on picking one up this weekend. Fingers crossed....
+lokiandzeuschannel Yeah, just like with laser, you need to not pluck/wax. When going for laser, they'll ask you not to wax or pluck for a month before the appointment, so I would expect it to be the same for IPL type hair removal. EDIT: I just thought I'd add for those who might think to say "elos isn't IPL". It is, it uses radiowaves in addition to the IPL, but that would mean that it's subject to the same laws of physics as plain IPL, which means that there needs to be a hair-root there for the light to focus on.
@@StimorolChewingGum If you have blonde, red, grey or white hairs you have to pluck or epilate the area first. The IPL needs the droplet of blood left behind to damage/kill the root.
you should never plug or epilate, wax the hair before treatment - as you need a hair root to be in place for light to destroy it - if you plunged it - then the root is removed and light does not work try shaving or cream
The reason it's not working as well on your underarms is because you are epilating and pulling the hair out at the root before you use the device. I have it and I found if I shave my underarms then use the device and then once I get a tiny bit of regrowth I epilate and repeat the process the following week. I know it's tedious but seems to work a lot better, trial and error I think. Like you though I found the biggest reduction was on my legs. Can you do an update?
I have the 'me' for a year - it workes great (NO hear) - BUT better resolts only after apilator and 2 weeks apart is right for the legs You feel heat 'cause your not picking it up from the skin - It should feel nice flash over a bit (10 flashes), wait a few seconds, then move over it again Recomend 4-5 times to go over each area Underarm and bikini line - wait a few seconds every few flashes- so it won't be too hot
To all the comments below. If you have blonde, red, grey or white hairs you need to pluck or epilate the area before you use this machine. It needs the droplet of blood left behind to treat the roots. This is what the instructions with the machine says to do. In my opinion though I don't think these home machines are powerful enough to do anything other than slow down the regrowth or thin it out a little.
if you are doing your face you have to shave because the root stay in your skin and you can laser it. But when u wax it takes out the root as well and does not work.
its not working for you because you epilated first. You have to shave, so the root is in the shaft. Pulling the hair out first, makes IPL basically useless as theres no pigment for the light to travel through, down into the pore.
lol, that's why i am watching this review too.. bearing in mind you shouldn't wax/pluck/epilate whilst lasering, shaving/depilatory creams are fine. i'm curious to know if this is any good- i'm considering this/philips lumea.. any suggestions anyone?
Thank you! I did the same looked for reviews before purchasing and couldn't find anything. You have saved me a lot of money. THANK YOU
Thank you! It's tough to find a review that isn't probably from a company shill. You've saved me some $$$

you need to shave and not plug or wax or thread that area. the root of the hair needs to be there in order for the laser to target it.
