I came for the info, and stayed for the soothing voice..... thank you for the great video carson.... now show the "personalized" one...
Ordered my clip, great video!
How is this the only video on this thing?? This clip is what made me decide on the light! I personally am way to use to bezel down to try and switch
Couldn’t say man, it should definitely have more exposure
You can unscrew the tailcap ring by the switch. That is what the notches are for. To install the tailcap switch and lanyard ring. I like this light but I'm not crazy about the clip it comes with. My Elzetta Bravos will still be my go to lights for work though. They are much more durable than a Surefire and have numerous other advantages like a modular design, fully potted electronics so it is significantly more impact resistant and waterproof INSIDE and out, plus they have a replaceable 1 inch thick solid acrylic optical lens. Love my Surefire lights but I prefer the best for emergencies and use the second best at home. The really cool thing about the Tactician though is it does well as a defensive light and utility light plus like all other Surefire lights it weighs nowhere near as much as an Elzetta Bravo. It is small to so it might be a bit better for gym shorts, minus the bezel up clip. I don't mind the extra weight from the Bravo at work but around town or at a friend's house I deal with it because I like having the best tool on me. I would probably bring the Tactician to work but my job is too tough at times for a Surefire and I nearly recked my Fenix light. The bezel up carry was another reason. Still one of my top 5 favorite lights though which says a lot because I literally have drawers full of different lights including several high-end ones. Surefire does have a heck of a warranty though and amazing customer service.
GFT sent me to your channel!!!
Appreciate it!
You do not need to cut the stock lanyard ring. When looking at the pressure pad on the tail cap, there are two small half circles cut out of the metal. Using needle nose pliers or something similar, you can actually unscrew the top of the tailcap, allowing you to remove and keep the stock ring in case you don’t like the new clip.
Great video nonetheless, and I’m glad to FINALLY see decent aftermarket clips for bezel-down carry. Sure as hell beats using a clipdraw clip as I have been for the past couple of years.
That method works if you have small enough plier tips, but can be difficult to do and can mar the tail cap
Just realized you mentioned using a clip draw. I had the same on an old EB-2 after my second or third factory clip broke. At least you can bend those back, but I seemed to catch mine on everything
Finally! Dont know why anyone would want head up and that much of it! Thanks
You know what, I'll give you an honest answer why anyone would want a head-up light with that much of it. Do 50 push-ups as fast as you can with such a light clipped to your left side pants pocket, and an unloaded firearm on your right side. Run in place for 30 seconds. _Now_ reach for the light, switch it on, and immediately afterwards reach for the handgun. Now try the same thing with one carried bezel-down in the same pocket. Good luck getting it out and into action without fumbling or dropping the light.
That bit of exercise is done to get your heart and adrenaline pumping. To somewhat simulate the stress of a real world encounter with a violent two-legged predator getting ready to murder you. With head-up and plenty of the bezel sticking up, all you have to do is bend at the wrist slightly while reaching down and grabbing the light. You pull it out and up with zero adjustment needed as you hit the tailcap switch. Keeping in mind that with your adrenaline pumping, you have zero fine motor skills and have to rely on gross motor skills only. With bezel-up, no problem at all. Bezel-down requires fine motor skills to get your light out, up, and into action to hit the tailcap switch. So yeah, that's the reason.
That button-cap actually screws off, so you don't need to cut the ring.
This needs to be higher up. It's pretty easy to damage both the factory tailcap and its lanyard ring by, say, forcing it off. Would have been nice for SureFire to document this, also. I suppose one could also look for the "two notch" pattern to guess when SureFire expects something to unscrew.
Of the many folks I know that have removed the lanyard ring, not one has damaged the tailcap
Mine i have to press the tail cap very hard or the light will flicker. If I press hard and perfect on the tail it is fine. If I twist in constant it is fine but if i barely get on the tail and press like in a hurry it flickers a little. Does yours do this?
I’ve found that all my sire fires do that until I push the button a few dozen times. After that they have always been fine for me. That’s worked for the 6-7 lights I’ve had with button tailcaps from surefire
Buy the latest SureFire E2D, instead. I've carried The Tactican as part of my job for months now. Never found it to be "tipy." Not even remotely. The entire light, including the clip was specifically designed to be used by those who truly need an actual tactical light. One primarily made to be used with a handgun. It was never intended to be a general-use EDC light.
Cool, it’s been tippy for a lot of other folks though. We aren’t wearing your pants, I guess...
What made you think I was using this for “general use?”
Would this work as a lockout for the Surefire edcl2-t?
I’ll have to check on that, I do have one to try it with
@@crbaldree001Cool. I'm interested to see how that works out.
will the lock out clip work with Surefire G2X?
I don't know, I don't have one on hand to try. If it does fit, it may not provide proper switch function. I'd shoot Green Force Tactical that question through the contact form on their website
I don’t think so. I have both the G2X and tactician and the latter has a smaller diameter.
You probably want to run a o-ring on both sides of the lockout clip to retain water resistance.
A o-ring wouldn’t do anything below the clip and the original is still in factory position
Did you make the point that with the stock clip you cannot attach it to a hat? Just don't want to misunderstand you
With the stock clip you can attach to a hat bill. Same with the two way clips on other surefire lights. I prefer bezel down though, as I sometimes wear a hat, but I almost always have a shirt on. Can hang from your collar and get area lighting
Going to alumni weekend bugout?
Not sure, when is the next one?
