Changing Surefire EDCL2-T Clip For Tactician Clip? Don’t Waste Your Time!

  • I did a full review of the EDCL2T Tactical Flashlight by SureFire and had nothing but positive things to say about the light, with the exception of the clip. It's that not bad, but it doesn't inspire confidence either. They told me that the SureFire Tactician clip was compatible and set it to me to switch out. Needless to say, it is NOT compatible. I still stand by saying that they have one of the best customer services for a flashlight company I have ever encountered. It's a new light and the employee must have been misinformed. It happens... I still plan on incorporating this light into my everyday carry because I thinks it's a great EDC light with tactical abilities.

If you don't already have CCW insurance, consider joining USCCA with a special offer through We Run Guns here usccapartners.com/werunguns to get started. This link provides you with EXTRA PERKS, BONUSES or DISCOUNTS for joining and a small portion goes towards supporting the channel at NO ADDITIONAL COST to you. I'm personally a paying member and joined USCCA because I believe it's a great service should you EVER be in a self-defense scenario. You'll get access to a criminal defense attorney 24/7, 365 days a year, bail covered, and criminal/civil defense costs covered up to the amount you choose when you sign up. In addition to legal protection across all 50 states/ US territories, you'll get access to training resources, legal education, and a reciprocity map with state specific gun laws. Personally, the best part I like about USCCA is that you can choose your own attorney (unlike competitors) to ensure a high quality defense should you need it.

You can file out the sides of the clip that go into the slot slightly. I did it with my Surefire E2D defender and it worked perfectly. Just a little but of light filing with file or sand paper is enough. It will be tight enough but not too tight to fit. Also I removed the o rings and put tape around the threads to protect it. Worked perfectly for me.

For what it's worth...I was able to seat a Tactician clip on my EDCL2T. You are correct that it is extremely tight, but here is what worked for me: take the bezel and tail cap off, remove batteries and both o-rings. Get the Tactician clip started, then turn the light body upside down, placing the rounded edge of the clip on the corner of a hard surface (I used the flat portion of my vise). Next, tap the tail cap end with a rubber mallet until the clip fully seats. Like I said, it is a very tight fit, but this worked for me. Certainly gives you a rock solid clip with no worries of breakage. Good luck!

Michael Vaughn Thanks for the information. If I’m feeling brave I’ll give it another go this weekend. I’m happy to hear it’s possible. I called SureFire again and they told me they were not compatible.

You might should have removed the tail cap before beating on it with the hammer. That’s a lot of force going down on the tail cap.

Gear Runner that’s 100% correct. I should have thought of that before I started. Anyhow, works great. This light is a tank!

good on surefire for sending you the tactician clip....that was pretty rough just watching to find out it didnt fit.
i actually like the clip on the edcl2-t and wanted that on my tactician so i called surefire and tried to get a new clip even if i had to pay but they werent willing to sell or send me one.
i tried my e2d clip on the tactician body but it was loose since they are different sizes, so i put the head and tailcap of the tactician on my e2d body and now i have the light i want. tailcap from the e2d works with the tactician head so if you wanted to click for constant on and press for momentary you get that

Oh that's pretty cool. My only problem with the original clip is that it doesn't keep the light in the same position in my pocket. There isn't much force/friction keeping it in place where I need it. I did do an update to this video by the way
