yoooo that's so true, so many lights ditch the harsh diamond grip for a smoother slippery grip

Everything you said was bad about the light was advantages to me. I want the light to be up far enough to grab it out of a pocket to use it and I don't like aggressive knurling. I just purchased one from B&H after watching this.

Not sure why you want a ridiculously rock-hard tailcap switch. But that's up to you. The SureFire Tactician has the same switch, but on that model they built it properly.

I bought an L2 Lumax two decades ago for 170 clams (new) and her build quality is beautiful, including the lanyard.

Sadly, not everything has gotten better at SureFire since then.

Came back to watch this video..yea I've had some experience now with Surefire..and ues.."the light" is the best..but comparing it to the Fenix..I don't like that SF only has 2 settings..low and turbo..I like that Fenix has 5 different settings.

Maybe get the Tactician or the Fury Tactical light. The EDC 1 and 2 are mainly for the 5 lumens mode with a high power option when needed.

Bought myself the E2T Tactician long ago.
Couldn't believe how good it is. Oh, especially the tailcap switch. Same style as the EDCL2-T but actually done right.

So, what IS your current edc? As a light collector/tactical user, genuinely interested!

Currently alternating between the SureFire Tactician (did a review on it), and the 600 lumens version of the Streamlight Polytac (black version with the long bezel-up carry-clip) as my main EDC lights.

Totally agree about the knurling and the modes. I like the simple modes of the Yeager Tactician model! 👍🏻🇺🇸

Wouldnt that tailswitch prevent unwanted activation? Maybe it was designed for short controlled bursts for low light combat where you would control the lighting situation

Check out my SureFire Tactician review. SF is absolutely capable of making a better, proper momentary-on Only tailcap switch. That's what they did with the Tactician. With the EDCL2-T, they half-assed it.

You are gonna stress yourself out and have a heart attack. Break the clip off and put some grip tape on it. Maybe put a weaker spring in the tail cap.

What do you think about the Fenix UC35 or PD35?

    • @NGMonocrom
      @NGMonocrom  2 года назад +1

Did a 3 part review of the PD35 Tactical model shortly after having made this video. With a final update a year later. Don't own a UC35. So can't comment on it from experience.

Honestly, if I could keep only one out of those two lights; it would be the Fenix. SureFire did an incredible job with the tailcap switch on their Tactician model. So no clue how they managed to screw it up so badly on the EDCL2-T.

I recently purchased a Tactican E2T-MV and i love it! But you're correct just the little details..bevel down, 5 settings, strobe and price...i think all in all the LIGHT itself..Surefire is better but design and just all around better the Fenix.

I don't think the intent of this light was patrol use. If I'm searching a warehouse I'm going to use my big Maglite style streamlight that comes in the car. More run time.
This light speaks to me as more of a concealed carry/low vis style light for purely defensive purposes. Hit the button you have 1200 lumens of binding light and that's it. Push for on, release for off. Just easy.
The knurling thing is kind of a cosmetic thing. I think if someone wants to take the light away and they are committed, they'll knock it out of your hand. Gripping the light comes down to grip strength. It's a cylindrical metal object - only way to REALLY get a good grip is grip tape or something like that.
The clip thing is a reasonable critique. I think the best clip I'd ever used was on the streamlight protac series. Had one of those that survived a bunch of abuse, and the clip was amazing.
