Could ptfe be used around a compression olive as its that that should create the seal ?
The over-the-shoulder view really works for me. This has got to be the best video on RUclips that demonstrates how to apply thread seal tape.
holy shit, a plumbing channel that's both very informative AND entertaining. what a find!
+Sam Dash Thanks Sam! Please sub >> ruclips.net/user/plumberparts
A much needed video to have here on RUclips! Clear. Concise. Light hearted. If only I'd seen it when I started working with ptfe.. mentors would show me so fast that I was left to work it out.
Not only are you hilarious but this video and your one on replacing an outdoor tap made it easy for me. Soon I'll be doing it on my treadmill. Can't play the drums though. Nevermind!
This is my favourite one of your videos, so far. Funny! But not just that, you have solved the PTFE question that I have been struggling to get my head around - which way to wrap it so the tightening of the nut works with it. Thank you.
You have made my week watching your videos I have now got the knowledge and confidence to do the jobs that need doing just brilliant
Oh love your videos. You always make me laugh. This helped me so much. No, I'm not a professional plumber but I am renovating my house on my own. Your info is pure gold. Awesome drumming there James!! 😉😊
You made me smile again. 😊 Informative yet enjoyable.
You managed to make a video about PTFE tape entertaining, i'm impressed!! I had a PTFE tape fail before I watched this!
Cracking videos... - Sharing away, you made my renovation tasks a lot easier...
Sorted. Plumbed in my mixer taps today using your vids and a plumber mate’s tools.
Cheers mate.
Put a drumming video up!
Love watching your videos, but this one was the most entertaining one so far.
I knew nothing about plumbing until today when my garden tap broke (valve) Thanks to your videos I've been able to replace it myself and save some much-needed money on a call out. Thanks for your help.
Very entertaining and best teacher ever! Who would have known there was a wrong way. I'll definitely remember how to do this properly :)
Brilliant! Plumber/musician. My kind of plumber. Thanks for the videos. Helped me out a lot. cheers
No worries!
don't normally comment on you tube clips but like to say thanks for making my life easier. I had never used PTFE before and did it first time like pro. Tap sorted!
No worries Andrew, happy to help! Sorry for the delay in replying!
Sub here please>> ruclips.net/user/plumberparts
Been there done it thank f**k for you tube I was that man with a metre of ptfe tape loosely wrapped on the threads , great vids man thanks for your inputs 👍🏻
PTFE = Plumbers Tape For Everything 👍
Can’t believe I just watched a 5 min video on wrapping PTFE tape! 😂😂😂
Mate, you should have your own tv show!
You could make watching paint dry fun! 🏆🏆
Mate... you made using boring PFTE such fun... you are not a bad drummer either! You are a natural!
2:12 Putting the left thumb on the tape against the tap outside the thread is so helpful to stop the tape sliding around the tap thread.
Hey, you changed me from a PTFE TAPE tragic to a PTFE TAPE Champion!!!
Yet another quality instructional video coupled with a pure ANIMAL moment on the drums...Top drumming!
Cheers man!
WWont forget this lesson in a hurry. Thanks!
many thanks. funnyasf. saved me a tonne of heart ache. awesome drumming too ! gold mate !
I bet your neighbours love you! Great video, thanks so much.
Thanks for this. Definitely helped me out!! 👍
Great video well explained. I've used this technique to replace an outside tap but it is leaking slightly where the tape is. Should I just put more on and try again?
Followed this to the letter and sorted my leaking washing machine tap, cheers!
Good information + banter = Winning combo for RUclips.
Ha! Cheers dude! I hope you SUBSCRIBE! ➡️👉 ruclips.net/user/plumberparts 👈⬅️ IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY! 😎
plumberparts I certainly did good sir. What I really want to see is you playing that strat and using ptfe lol
Brilliant! Thank you for the informative but fun vid! Good drumming too! :D
Now you're just showing off! Thanks for the guide.
HOLD TIGHT!!
Love that last part, oh and nice drums pal.
Cheers dude!
You crazy man love those drums great job HHHHHHHHHHOLD TIGHT !
Nice toothed rad tail thread as well. Why I'm watching how to do this i have no idea. Nice to see someone showing the right way to do it though. Great job.
Cheers dude!
love it - ace instructions as ever
😂 get video cheers 🍻 pissed my self at last few seconds of your vlog . Great sense of humour 😸
Fanks man you rock and made me smile. 👊
This guy is wayyyy funnier than most so-called comedians being paid for their efforts, these days.
He's an alright plumber too. 😋
Education and Comedy..what a guy !
Fantastic channel, keep them coming fella!
+Jeremy Davies Cheers dude!
Thanks Mate. Good video.
Nice drumming!
Thank you so much!
Hi! What do you think about Tangit Uni-Lock instead of using PTEF tape?
Do you wrap the PTFE around the Olive?.
I needed some PTFE super quick and had a delivery from the BESt place ever. Great service based in Birmingham
Paul Lumb Yes, both my dad and me have been customers of them for years. Definitely the BESt reliable suppliers in my book.
Yep. Only place I use these days.
Absolutely hilarious, and I don't even need PTFE tape!
Thank you!
😃you learn some thing. New every day👍
Thanks so much
looks like good technique.
thanks mate
That’s funny boy 😂 thanks for the info
Daft question. When is it wound around the thread and when do you make a washer out of the tape?
What's that tune playing in the background when your PTFEing on the treadmill?
Legend!
GOSH YOU ARE HILARIOUS!!! LOVE YOU......YOU THE BEST
Cheers man!
Where I live we are using plumber's hemp and paste to this day...
But do you PTFE the thread of a compression joint or the olive?
Great vid - hilarious
Brilliant
hello there, i was wondering if you could cover x dimensions, how to cut pipe the right lenght. cheers great vids btw.
It's now in the list!
Your a plumber drummer!
“I’ve done it wrong again” 😂😂😂
Serious question. How much PTFE is too much PTFE? I am installing some taps and cant get rid of annoying drip so I have had to put a s**t load on. Is there any problem?
brilliant video, hilarious! If you do my PTFE i can do your garden :)
How many turns of tape is sufficient for rad tails , 👍
Good vid, but it would been maybe good to mention that there's few thiknesses of tape sold. Doing seven wraps on thicker tapes might even crack your smaller fittings :)
Oh I'm struggling so much with the fittings! That's why I'm here... Been doing the tape over and over, screwing it on and off, on and off, on and off. Trying different amounts of tape, screwing it tightly as is could - still leaked. So frustrating
excellent vid. I wonder what they used before ptfe?
Boss White and Hemp. As an apprentice (early 1970's) and definitely on the screwed thread on black iron pipework.
Hemp or plumbers mate or putty
Thanks this will help for college
No worries mate!
Nice drumming...
Quality uploads . . . .mdpe can it be used underground for about 20ft from an existing outside cold water tap . . . . To supply an out building . I'm a bricky who is doing a small scheme and thought about digging a channel . . . Laying polypipe and leaving the rest to the plumber .......what do you reckon fella ? Or is it a piece of piss to use the push stuff .... Cheers mucka
Use the mdpe. Good luck!
Dumb question. I was taught to do it exactly as you are in this video...7 turns. Now I get the ole..just three...what are you doing? Also, I am just beginning to work with a lot more stainless pipe. Dope...slides out doesn't stick and white slides as well. On the states we have a blue and someone was telling me about a gray tape. Is there a variation I missed whilst in my parental delirium? Some brass seems to act like stainless more as well. I assume it's due to lead free changes. Yeah, took a few years off lol.
Dunno mate, have you tried Loctite 55? Enjoy the delirium!
plumberparts Like it. Use something like that for air already. It stared at me in the store last time, but I grabbed the trusty inexpensive product, costing me a couple hours of redoing as consequence...Unforgiving fail lol. 20 bucks sounds cheap now. Is it a simple heat to remove as well? Any drawbacks with water application like ideal prep?
ahahahahaha, you're so funny. i like your videos. this one made me laugh so much..ahahahahahaha.
tisoy kuno Thanks!
I need to ptfe under a sink, the pipe is attached to the tap, and there is no space to wind the ptfe with the spool...help please
Not so easy though when you're having to wrap it onto a leaky radiator valve thread, or a compression olive in situ, with like an inch of space around it? That can drive you quite insane! :)
Wrap the PTFE on the end of a pencil then. use that to wrap your PTFE on to he olive
Hi, what about putting the tape on a tap that is on a sink and you have to struggle to get underneath. How do you put it on correctly in this situation. Could you do a video showing that please. Or on any pipe that is close to a wall. Cheers
Added to the list!
Your so funny but informative. Cool !!
Cheers mate!
Definitely holding the PTFE tight!
Boom!
why didn't I watch this last week before my PTFE disaster borne leak fail.
Cheers
I wonder what you think about ppl putting tape and loctite 5776
on the same thread.. like first roll some tape on and then smear that "glue" on top... I think that's just stupid!
Let's see more drumming please! 😊
+Henry Ha! Will do!
How do you PTFE your walls if you have a noisy neighbour?
PP can George ur cat use ptfe he-he. nice vid mate fanks for making.
Dunno. He's been out all day so can't ask him....probably murdering mice! Cheers mate! PP
F**king brilliant 🤣
Poly Tetra Fluoro Ethylene tape my arse! PTFE = Plastic tape for engineers. ;)
Now really blow people's minds by showing them the screwdriver wraparound trick of how to PTFE when there is no space to fit the roll around the thread.... HOLD TIGHT !
0:54 i laughed so hard
Id never put 7 wraps. Insane! Just enough to cover the threads and wrap it in the same direction your fitting is screwing on
some fittings require 10 times round
Admission: I had too much difficulty just trying to copy your advice on which way to hold the tape roll.
Geez.
Maybe I am losing it.
Or have already.
Can you please show it again:)))
You want to get some acoustic foam panels on that wall mush. Stop the echoes. 😃
+Dave Stalker-Gillman Ha! Cheers mate!
is that a surface pro on the table
Don't know what you're on about! :)
first job learnt as a apprentice
Good Lad!
Ha ha, you mange to make a video about ptfe funny. Good job.
Cheers Jas!
7 wraps! I guess I don't put enough on.
That wasn't really meant to be the amount of wraps it was just my usual amount!
