Hi there, 12 turns is too many. Make sure as well that the PTFE is pulled tight over the thread so that it is not bunching up when you are threading the fittings together.
Hi there, thanks for the comment! PTFE tape is fine on plastic threads but should only ever be used to "seal", not to add bulk to the thread. You should only ever tighten plastic threaded fittings hand tight (if you think you are not strong enough to do this, then only add 1/4 turn at most using a tool). If you ignore this advice and use tools to tighten them you could overtighten and crack the fitting, as the tape makes the thread more "slippery" and so there can be a tendency to overtighten. Sealing large diameter plastic threads in hard materials like PVC is often difficult as there is no give in the plastic and different installers often have their own preferred ways including PTFE tape, PTFE paste etc.
Thank you, most useful video about the tape I've found. Clockwise and clean, I will remember that!
Just looked this up to stop my shower hose from leaking, big thanks, and keep up the good work.
2:11 - i put 12 turns over the pipes in the basement and half of them are leaking now lol... so is that because it was too much or too few lol....

Refilm if you lose focus. Turn off auto focus on the camera. Otherwise, very nice video.
Very nice
Crikey - I have just looked at other posts who say not to use this tape on plastic - only metal.
