That ending was the craziest Luffy slander that I ever heard. As loyal as Zoro been to Luffy and the crew, Luffy has been just as loyal or even more so.
Luffy tore Arlong Park down for Nami. He help save Usopp village , He declared war on the world for Robin, Forced Franky to live his dream, Went to Whole Cake went against a Yonko for Sanji. Went to help Vivi save her country because she his friend. He locked himself in a mirror world with no plan to escape to stop Katakuri from getting to the crew.
I can keep going but the point is that Luffy loyalty to his friends and Crew can't be questioned and can't be used to say he not a better character then zoro. Luffy is the guy that makes everybody else want to achieve their dream and help him including Zoro

Plus, Luffy literally scaled a mountain with his bare hands while carrying a sick Nami and a weakened Sanji with his teeth, in a very cold terrain while losing blood himself! People just don't appreciate anything because Zoro and others like Sanji and Jinbei only do things like this once in a while(which makes it seem more impactful) compared to Luffy who does it EVERY arc.
"Nothing happened" was great, but it's not touching what I just laid out. Even Luffy as an 8yr old kid got tortured by pirates for a day because he wouldn't betray his brother who was mean to him.
Zoro's "Nothing happened" in my eyes is on the same level as Sanji's "I needed a light", yeah Zoro set Luffy straight when he was about to allow Ussop back into the crew without consequence but Sanji checked Luffy and tried to de-escalate things BEFORE they got worse(Ussop just didn't listen, and Luffy did), the same energy.
I love Zoro but I'm not putting him above Luffy in anything.
Its beacuse it is the standard for him. Its stupid, I know. But because Luffy is constantly doing things like that, people expect that from him. But when anyone else show badassery and loyalty they get a much bigger reaction and aprishiation.
Luffy is suffering from what I call *"MC Backlash"*
People hate on him OR don't appreciate his growth simply because he's the MC.
If Zoro was the MC, people may deny it now, but I can GUARANTEE he'd get the same treatment.
When you think about it, every Strawhat has grown in their own way.. but in the end, Luffy is still spontaneous.. Zoro still lacks sense of direction.
That's not lack of character development, that's just who they are.
I think some people only see those drastic change as character development and leaving out subtle changes as such (or they’re just not reading attentively to see those) (ex. In Drum island Luffy was quick to pick a fight when Nami was sick and Vivi had to teach him how to behave when they need help, then look at Amazon lily Luffy bowed down to save margaret. and for me that’s character development)
Not hating on Zoro, but I do think he gets WAY more love than he deserves. Dude is usually just boring.
Even then people who hate him are just really vocal about it. Luffy has been getting number one in popularity polls since one piece started and was still number one when the world was able to vote on it
@@leonkastilyo7463 , Luffy bowed to Boa Hancock because Vivi made Luffy into a beta male, and if it were Zoro on Amazon Lily he would have definitely kicked the ass of the strongest sword fighter on Amazon Lily and won, and outside of One Piece whenever have you ever seen a King bow to his loyal subjects because more than often in real life the loyal subjects bows to the King and not the other way around, and I’d say that characters like Zoro, Rayleigh, Jinbe, and Shanks have put a more positive influence on Luffy’s life than characters like Garp, Sanji, Usopp in Water 7, Nami, etc etc.

Zoro only has to hold it down when Luffys slippin but 90% of the series is luffy holding it down which is why zoros moments stand out more
Haki was foreshadowed from the time Shanks rescued Luffy. Let me explain, we knew that Shanks was somewhat powerful in the early stages of One Piece, but we also knew he could not have been a devil fruit user because he hopped into the sea to save luffy, but was not affected by the sea like a devil fruit user would be.

Chris, Chris, Chris you kind of blew up your own point. The " nothing happened" moment in Thriller Bark was an amazing Zorro moment but if you really look at it, it's the moment that made Zorro realize hands down that Luffy was on another level even back then. Before taking that pain I think Zorro saw himself as on par with Luffy until he realized that that was the kind of pain Luffy takes on for the crew and smiles.
Zorro was already messed up tho so it's not comparable if zorro was completely healthy then u could say that

The slander on luffy makes no sense cuz the reason zoro is a great character is BECAUSE luffy is a great character imo both characters need each other equally from a character stand point.

The whole point of the story is that luffy is going to be the king of the pirates.
Each and every straw hat at some point of the story reffred to luffy as the man who will become pirate king.
So, now it is not only luffy's goal to become pirate king rather it is all of straw hats goal too to make him king. And one day he will become the man who will pass on the legacy to the next generations.

I don’t think zoro is a better character than luffy, I do believe that zoro has done more for luffy then jinbei has done however. Not to say that jinbei isn’t important by any means, just that zoro has been with the crew longer and has done way more for them than jinbei so far.
I think in marineford and post marineford + in whole cake island this things puts jimbe on par with Zoro of what they have done for luffy

Zoro as a character is the most bland straw hat the guy has had nothing new for a very long time
lets be honest replace zoro with jimbei in thriller bark. Jimbei is gonna box kuma toe to toe unless kuma gives the same deal, hes gonna take luffys pain sameway zoro did. Other than that eversince jimbeis appearance he’s been showing hella loyal feats even when he wasn’t apart of the crew... Zoros loyal feats are obviously the thriller bark kuma sitch, usopp sitch those are the main ones ofcourse. But put that alongside jimbei, theres no clear edge from zoro if anything its jimbei. Zoros been around the longest but jimbeis been around the shortest and has shown the most loyal features from a strawhat.

Honestly saying Zoro is one of the best characters is cap in my opinion; at least lately. Zoros still cool as hell and obviously strong; but in terms of personality and character he's been slacking lately in my opinion. Hopefully he turns it around though; but I just haven't been as big a fan of Zoro since the timeskip happened.

As well as reminding Luffy he still has a crew to live for when he was shatter.

Personally I like Zoro more than Luffy. Luffy is amazing, but i simply like Zoro better. I could go into detail, but it won't matter due to the fact that you can like a character trait more than the other.
That's the beauty of One piece, there's ton of characters to love or choose over the other.

Rob just so yk, there's no confirmation that Shanks fought Kaido. In a sbs it was confirmed that Kaido only had King on his side while Shanks had his whole crew. Not saying that Shanks is weak but Kaido's the strongest creature for a reason

For the anime vs manga one. I would leave it. I'm primarily a manga reader of One Piece mainly because of the slow pacing of the anime, but there are moments where the anime does a fantastic job of handling the moment in the manga. Like I don't think anyone would balk at the anime when it counts. I remember reading the Katakuri vs Luffy fight and thought, "Man I really want to see how the anime handles the fight here." If I recommend a person to One Piece, I would strongly suggest reading the manga, but won't discourage them from watching the anime. If they told me they would watch the anime, I might suggest looking at a website where they show which episodes are pure filler since there are a few I do not care for. Even then I would tell them which filler episodes I do like (G-8 or Sanji helping the marine trainee to make curry) because I think they are fun or interesting perspectives on characters.
I love Zoro, but Luffy is a much more interesting character. Watching him grow from a reckless and silly kid into a reckless and silly pirate emperor, from learning humility in Drum Island and responsability in Water 7. Before Time skip I would've said Zoro had a better backstory, but after Marineford we learned a whole new side of Luffy. Deep down, this happy go lucky pirate captain is a child who fears being alone. Oda also manages to make him be shaped by the world around him. Luffy wasn't aware, but since he was a kid he has hated what the Celestial Dragons stood for, since they "killed" his brother. Luffy is somewhat of a chosen one character (which I don't personally like), but his childhood informs us why he he is headed in this path, making it believable. Luffy is a character that, on paper, feels like a generic shounen protagonist, but Oda made him into someone that even as an adult I can look up to. Sometimes Zoro feels too stoic and one note to be engaging, he has a great backstory and some top tier One Piece moments, but he can easily fade in the background in most scenes due to his demeanor.
Either way, that's just my take. Loved the video
8:56 misconception his Haki was basic observation but he used it in conjunction with his devilfruit to achieve a clairvoyance effect
yes hello , i am the guy who made the take , and i agree. after that video i had dug in deeper and realized that his devil fruit actually increased the range of his observation haki. This opened another point for me though , i now believe he has a high potential to have elite observation and paired with his probably further developed devil fruit.
To put it simply, Sabo only exists to replace Ace, as he merely fills in the big brother role in Luffy's life, and the only difference is that Sabo is almost too perfect in every aspect. If you we're to remove Sabo from the story, I honestly wouldn't see much of a difference in the main story outside the fight that broke out in marjois
Yeah, but in defense of sabo's character, unlike ace, his story isn't done. Oda likely has plans for him later on. On top of that, his character was able to give us a lot of insight into the revolutionary army. But yeah, as of right now, he hasn't served much of a role in the story.

Also we actually know from the manga where Enel is but won’t spoil it. Skypeia I agree is an awesome arc. One of my favourites.
Okay so what brought me here Ace and Sabo. That was a brilliant question and shout out to all the take it or leave it questions. It’s a tough one but, I think the point about where they both are in Luffys life is important. Sabo is great but Ace for me, i think their is a better tie and emotional connect between Ace and Luffy. IMO 😅 Keep up the great work 🙌🏾

8:30 I can say personally this was the case for me. When I started I watched the first few episodes but at some point the pacing became way too slow and dreadful so I went to read the colored manga instead. Right now I only tend to watch the anime when big fights are about to breakdown.

@@boszgaming4851 I mean there both action anime. If we go by episode count logic then one piece can be barely compared to other animes since barely any anime has over 100 episodes. I’d say one piece> code Geass but lelouch is a better protagonist than luffy (Luffy is an awesome protagonist in his own right though).
