I have a skin concept where illaoi is a farmer, her thing she carry’s is a flower pot or watering can and her tentacles are reskin as flowers or maybe just tall grass

I dont know if you forgot or weren't there for it but what you described is pretty much exactly what one of the other choices for her skin were. Well not exactly farmer. To clarify: they made 3 concepts for illaoi skins and let the community choose which one they wanted. One was 'Battlecast' (now called Resistance), one was 'Deep Space' (an astronaut skin), and one was 'Adventurer', which was flavored a bit like Indiana Jones and her tentacles were shown to be vines. I actually like the last one more but was also happy with battlecast.

I actually like the outfit and it fits rather well, not to mention the hair is locked up nicely. This is my fav skin for her.

Artwise, I think the simple design of her character model (Excluding her robot head) is to emphasize contrast. The Black tones of her pants and torso complements the light tones of the robot head and the tentacles. Such a waste that they're leaning toward a more whimsical vibe. I gotta miss that nitty gritty designs.

Counter point: Illaoi in crop top is unique and gives mega 80s movie vibes and I love it.
Now this is fascinating to consider since it is less about how the champ looks and more for how of how you make her abilities look. And yeah, the idea that she’s running around with a severed robot head that can control robotic tendrils is a good way to sell that.

One thing that bugs me about all illaoi skins is that they draw her as angry in all of her splash arts besides her base which feels kinda strange when there is so much joy and confidence in the character

I still wish they had given this skin that unique dance animation they teased.
Many champions would fit it of course, but I really think that Illaoi would be one of the best candidates for an Inkshadow skin, what with the tentacles swooshing and slamming, leaving trails and aftershocks. Maybe they could be the extended end of a paintbrush? Should probably be a little more complex than that. The tattoos would fit her so well too, since her base model already carries some.
As an illaoi main I really want her to have a dunkmaster skin. Her tentacles could be towels (like towel whipping in the locker room) her idol could be a basketball and her w could be a dunk with her ultimate being a bigger dunk.

Right on. It also feels slicker to run and less clunky than the default skin.
I doubt people cared too much if her outfit was simple, this was teased back in the day when champs like Illaoi had too little skins and Riot was addressing that 'unpopular' champs were getting new skins soon. People were extremely hyped about it as a result.
But I'm still waiting for Dunkmaster Illaoi, with tentacle basket-poles and a basketball as idol

Forever ago the ideas I had for skins for her were Preschool Illaoi where she's in a colorful teachers outfit and the tentacles are sock puppets, Nightmare Illaoi where she's all spooky and the tentacles are chains, and Pool Party Illaoi and the tentacles are pool noodles

There is a Concept of Chef Illaoi skin where she's an, well, Chef, and her tentacles are replaced with Squid ones, her E is replaced with Noodles, and the receptacle is replaced with a Barbecue Grill

The first concept had robotic-hands, but they caused bug and crash, so they decide to come back to the classic tentacle.

I really like the skin - but I still think Gardener Illaoi would have been great as well, I was torn between those two when they made the community choose
There's also the amazing sound effects of this skin.
I don't mind the idea of a crop top on Illaoi. If you think about it, in a world that has mostly machines running aroung there is going to be a lot of heat that is being generated from said machines making the surrounding area hot so any ventilation is welcome.

As a Dota player one of the most egregious parts of League to me is the change between the splash art and the actual skin ingame. Im used to getting exactly what I see on the art but the way they make it look so much better in the art with no way to demo ingame feels pretty odd

It is so not hard to come up with skin ideas for her tho, riot just doesn't cuz she's not popular enough, here's a few examples, a candy themed skin like the sugar rush line where her tentacles are licorice whips and her ball is a gum drop, a jungle theme with vines and a rock, heck even a clown skin with long balloons and a cream pie would work
They're good, but they could be more like doc ock's arms from the Raimi spiderman movies and that would be way cooler

Ynow ive never actually used the resistance skin because i just found the art boring, but getting a look at those tentacles and the idol kinda changed my mind about it! Ive been getting bored of the snow white tentacles anyway

My friend doesn't like this skin (he's an Illaoi main) because he says the tentacles look like muscle.
If they need to make more illaoi skins, they can just use the same themes as Vel'Koz. If those tentacles makes sense for him theme, they should work just as well for Illaoi.
