Find yourself a 2nd gen MR2 and drop that bad boy in it! Or a clean EG, install it in the hatch area, and have a RWD Civic! With the abundance of stand-alone, even open-source ECUs, it'll come down to finding one that someone has already written a base tune for.
Omg this is crazy! I have an 04 modena and i’ve been trying to figure this out myself! I ended up adding seafoam and driving it hard and the tapping noise went away. LOVE your ferrari content!!
Now that there is a good chance of this engine running again, how about putting it in a Pontiac Fiero, you can definitely get one of those cheaply, and it would be a great flip to the many “Ferrari” kits 🤗🤗🤗
Love the vids on this engine. It's something you don't get to dig into for most people. Have you looked at fueltec as far as an ECU? They are pretty impressive with the # of in/outputs and they offer a tuning class in Georgia that is 3 or 4 days long. The owner is from Brazil I think, he seems like a cool dude. Wizard would be smart to have a trained fueltec guy in the shop.

Those lifter buckets look very familiar to those used on Mk1 VW golf/Jetta engines. Not 100% sure, but maybe cross-reference them if you need a replacement. I hope it's true. $60 each is nuts! Looking forward to the next video!
That squishy tappet was probably stored up side down, and all the oil drained out. Nissan 300zx tappets are very similar, and have to be primed before installation (submerged in oil to re-fill...)
I don't know how much RUclips you watch, but there is a channel called Home Built by Jeff. He is in Australia and for years now he has been working on what he calls the Alfarrari. He's taken an Alfa Romeo and dropped a Ferrari engine in it. He's ALMOST done now... just got the car on the dyno. You might want to check it out if you have time. I enjoyed that series... and I can't wait to see what you end up doing with this engine. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Great videography and commentary. Keep going. Trent Palmer has an oldish VLOG on how to centre your opening shots which will 'hook' a viewer. Trent is a US movie drone operator as well as a bush pilot; all good stuff.
Free Ferrari engine, those don't come around too often. Great project tear down, chemicals maybe a bit harsh in the washer, should have a rinse cycle with neutral cleaning agent. I did wince quite a bit when I saw the cam followers piled up in the middle of the bench, if you were going to re-use those with the cam's you should have kept them in order. Once an engine is run in the followers are matched to the cam lobes. Still a great project engine for your channel and be interested to see how it turns out.

'sounds like you need a new engine" ... well.. comparatively, the labor involved with diagnosis and cost of a reman r/r?? sounds close with only one not having a definitive outcome... hmmm.. what to put THAT in...an XKE type 2... or.. a classic muscle car... oh!! how about a toyota aw11 mr2?? that would be idiotically fast! 'sleeper' 1979 monte? [think 'training day'] tons of engine bay room on the last one

Color looks washed out and unsaturated too. Could use some Color grading. some of the music used is a little cringy too
I have damaged hearing and find it hard to follow voices with background music too high or EQ'd incorrectly. Otherwise another great video.

Haltec ECU would have no problems running that engine.
Whatever you put it in, make sure it weighs less than 1300kgs for maximum smiles per gallon.
Thanks for bringing up that memory. I remember that hydraulic tappets usually are a little slow to pump up with oil if they've been deflated
