@RGT85 The camera is not "crazy" like you said in the japanese wresling game it s a GLITCH! That's the problem with non official SEGA stuff. I don't understand why MegaDrive is so had to emulate. I tried ALL emulators and I can see all differences that casual gamer does even not notice when you play quickly but I can tell you that it's ruining the experience...
It's way better than the garbage Flashback Sega Genesis from Atgames. Not to mention it's also cheaper

Better than At Games I Can Tell You That
The only bummer is that there's no scanline feature. Playing 16bit Genesis games without scanlines just isn't for me
J Bird but since most peoples played genesis games from a distance they just cannot see those scanlines, so i alway’s wondered why many peoples are bothered with scanlines? Because those scanlines are not inside the game’s programm code, those scanlines are based on the limitations of the tv itself.

I'm a simple man with simple needs. I see a video from RGT85 talking about genesis stuff, I click like, then I watch, and I approve of the video with an approving nod of the head.
Definitely a great option at a good price for playing Genesis/Megadrive games. Surprised how much I am digging this console! Awesome review RGT 85~
It'll still have plenty of lag like any other Hyperkin console though.

@alak85, that’s what’s largely said about the Retron 5, as well. That one I do have and it lags so bad I can’t even play Super Mario Bros. on it.

It’s not bad for the price, I was planning on buying one to hold me over until Analogue release. They took so long I just bought a retro trio.
What about virtua racing? That uses a custom chip in it that most clones will not work with.

There is a 6-button Sega Genesis arcade stick for fighting games.
I've got a few questions that I haven't really seen mentioned/brought up in the few reviews I've watched/reviewed so far 1. does this system have issues running lock on carts such as Sonic & Knuckles, Game Genie, etc? 2. How well does it run Castlevania Bloodlines? ( reason I ask is Hyperkin's Retron 5 for the longest time had issues running this game including a major issue where the game would crash/freeze upon trying to enter the final stage (Stage 6) of the game) 3. How well does it run Virtua Racing/other specialty game carts?
I removed the casing for the original power base converter and tested out some Master System games. Using HDMI it inverts the colors unless you run it in PAL. Which means it also runs slower. Composite NTSC-U things ran fine. The 3D glasses and light phaser games worked fine as well with a CRT.
Odd thing is if you play using composite video, it displays the correct colors when playing Master System games.

Looks cool. The console is a homage to the Genesis and Dreamcast, while the six button control looks like a hybrid between the Genesis pad and the Saturn controller. I'll probably get one, because the price is too good not to. It's silly, though. I have a modded Xbox with a million games that plays in HD, but I still want these little consoles. It must be the Sega fan in me.

Is it better than the HDMI Genesis systems you can buy on Aliexpress for $80? John Hankok reviewed it on his channel if you're unfamiliar, it's called the HD Retro Game or something stupid like that.
Cool, it's actually worth it at that price. It looks good in the Genesis style and has a wired controller too, which I prefer. Have you testes more games? Like Dungeons & Dragons Warriors of the Eternal Sun, Rampart, Greatest Heavyweights, Shadowrun, WWF Raw, WWF Royale Rumble?
I wish they would make a Sega Saturn system too.
Hey, I noticed that the 6B controller that comes with the Mega Retron HD didn't have a "mode" button. Have you tested the console with older 3 button games like "Golden Axe II" or "Forgotten Worlds" using the included controller? because if there is no Mode button then those game won't work properly...

It's interesting you tested it with a PAL Master System cart, because it seems from another review I saw that while it plays PAL Master System games correctly, NTSC Master System games play with inverted colors and possibly other glitches. It might be worth investigating that oddity. I've also heard it said that this does true stereo - but Hyperkin doesn't make that claim, and all other SoaC-based Genesis clones up to now apparently output dual-mono instead of true stereo. I'd be very curious to know exactly what kind of sound it actually outputs (I already have a Super Retro Trio Plus, so I already have an HD solution for Genesis carts, but improved sound would be a good argument for a potential purchase on this unit)
I was looking for a answer to that as well i just picked one up with a 830 in one cart, it has Sega Master System carts on there and unless u put it on Pal Master System games have some strange color displays and slow sound. Hopefully it will be answered.

Looks like it doesn't have any kind of filtering when it scales games running in H32 mode (256x224 rather than the standard 320x224 resolution)... Street Fighter had a lot of bad shimmering as things moved left and right, you could see stretched pixels. Batman for SMS seemed to have the same issue.
Someone else in the comments made mention that the hardware may not do shadow/highlights, which is unfortunate for a large number of games in the Genesis library that take advantage of the feature. I'm also curious about the audio...
Looks good on the surface and it may be better than some other options out there, might be fine for a casual player at least.

Why are you such a fan? I own two of their consoles and both are a huge disappointment. The only product of theirs I like so far is the NES Classic to NES controller adapters.
I’ve been using my daily, I really enjoy it :) looks good, a little darker than the original but it still does a great job and it looks cool!

Looks good, not bad for that price would be a good gift for a relative like my nephew, but I'd rather get the mini with built in games since they don't have many carts.
I never heard of Wrestle War, Shawn. It looks more fun than the WWE 2k series, to be perfectly honest.

It should. I have an Everdrive and it plays just fine. Think of those multi carts as Everdrives that are read only.
Nobody mentionned it yet, but the console doesnt do shadow/highlights at all, just like the clone fei hao on aliexpress. Try playing vectorman on genuine hardware and then compare with the retron. Also problems with games that display in different resolution, deal breaker for me...
Can you list games that dont work well?
So I got this and it apparently has a huge problem. Some games like street fighter 2 and the shining games output a a slightly lower horizontal resolution. Unfortunately the retron decides to stretch these games which leads to terrible shimmering. I looked into it, and this is a problem with all units.
I really want to order this , but unfortunately no one sell this in my country. So I have to import it, and it will be very pricey.

The new sega system by analogue will be the one i am picking up.This thing is ok but you can pick up a og genesis for around 15-20 bucks so i would just do that.

@CastleMania Games shipping would not be great because I would have to pay a lot of taxes and have the item stuck in customs.
How does this compare to the Retron 5?
The Retron 5 is emulation-based, whereas the MegaRetron HD is hardware-based. What this means is that the MegaRetron 5 won’t have as much trouble playing cartridges (it’ll play just about anything you throw at it), whereas the Retron 5 dumps the cartridge to the system, and it also has incompatibility issues with some games as well.
