Hey guys, host of the tournament again. Hope you enjoyed the battle. I see a lot of you guys calling the hungry wolves cheaters please don't. Apollo misspoke in the previous video where he said 7. The actual limit is 10. If they had more I do not know. However because I do not know I cannot and will not penalize them. It is unfair to judge a player that way just because you think he/she is. I wouldn't appreciate someone thinking the same of myself (unclutch). Anything that is considered cheating is being taken care of among the teams and worst case scenario each apollo tries to give his best advice. At the end of the day the hungry wolves and my team are friends and we have played with each other quite a bit so I don't appreciate you guys calling my friends cheaters. Just remember guys we are all here because we love total war at the end of the day.
Thanks for having our backs Kronic. Regardless of the outcome of this tournament, you guys were our best adversaries and every battle had been really fun. Thanks for putting this on bud. Cheers!
I gotta admit that Seleucid commander was really really a genius. Is this guy a reincarnation of that infantry commander at Magnesia? 🤣🤣🤣 The formation and maneuvering of the infantry box was a really brilliant stroke of genius.
@@Dangelboyd I'd prefer if you make your last stand using four units of pikemen in pike box, "accurately" like at Magnesia, with the center held by the General. The other infantry units, especially that cav will be the outer box dealing with weakened Germanic forces, but especially the Macedonian skirmishers. But that's just my opinion. (Yes, you brought only two units of pikes, which is why it would've been preferable if you brought two more at least in my opinion)

As we saw, it was very much the opposite
They lost because they attacked first. In rome 2 shield screen and shield wall abilities are brokenly good so when they attacked first they gave the advantage to corby. However, i think they did the best by attacking making this much more enjoyable to watch. I was sad about that box. Just imagine your own special Lovebox from Portal is fighting to his last blood drop against overhaling forces and you can't do anything ;(

The batle was lost once kush got completely wrecked. Seleucid should have sent more support to make sure galatia wouldnt just die. But its easy to speak after the match
I think this could have easily turned out differently. Push those pikes on the right, force cav to either commit or run. Take the flank, pepper the line from the flank. Just pin them. If Macedonia forms a right angle to counter you, you charge the angle and crush it, since you can hit 1 unit with 2. Economy of force. Dictate the battle. A bad decision is worse than inaction...
As for kush, they aren't much use in my experience. The units, not the player. The player did well, but Kush just isn't good in a dug in fight in my experience. When they can move and wheel, they are great, but not going shield to shield.
Great battle! Seleucid archers could have killed many Iceni while the melee was going but his box maneuvres were amazing! He pulled off the best mobile box tactics Ive ever seen!
Here's a tipi for dealing with noob boxes. You can pick them apart. Just simply aim for the troops that or on the other side, especially if they're in a rectangular box.
That box manouver at the end was impressive i am so going to try and implament that ingame. Again both teams were amazing and am looking forward to their final battle!
Surprised Macedon didn't attack first. The Selucids had basically the same setup as them but with inferior cav and archers. Could've easily skirmished their archers away, use whats left on the infantry, then move up infantry to engage theirs and then flank to fight their cavalry, snipe their general and then finish them off with rear charges.
I knew he wasn't going to engage and I knew he'd win the cav battle ;) I relied too much on my allies to win their side to then swing around and support me against their cav which I shouldn't have done
Hungry wolves should have sent everything in right from the get go and pincered with cav and strong infantry. Then fired all their archers from right behind the main lines and used shit infantry to plug holes. In a pitch battle like this you need to 100% give the enemy no time to think.
I honestly like multiplayer pitched battles more than the siege battles, don't get me wrong siege battles are cool but pitched battles are way more tactical and entertaining for me. That's just my opinion based on my own gameplay experience from Rome 2 though.
Well I think that guy from Hungry Wolves (I assume is always the same guy) who is always picking Kush should have gone for another strategy, I mean Kush is probably one of the best factions for sieges, specially against factions with plenty of armored units, and it can be great in field battles too, but in this case he is facing barbarian factions which doesn't have a great armor so Kushs armor piercing is pretty useless as we can see. For the other barbarian guy of Hungry he just got outnumbered probably because he used many of his units to support their allies in both sides, tried to rush with kush and then defeated right after kush, he couldn't do anything but at least he saved his cav. For the Seleucidian guy we all agree he should have charged with his allies, but he had a very defensive army and makedonia did a great job putting his cav on that side so they couldn't move from there in order not to let the cav go around. They maybe just tried to defeat most of the enemy forces just to let Seleucida end Makedonia in 1v1, but it didn't work good enough. From my point they should have used other factions and try to use shock cav as they didn't use any and as we have seen in this battle, they are destructive.
Even of it doesnt matter who won THIS WAS THE BEST BEST BEST PITCH BATTLE EVER I,VE SAWN SO FAR I,d like to thank you Apollo for your work and i appreciate it
I honestly think that rome 2 is a game that's best played in a realistic warfare tactics, especially pitch battles, and if so expect shocking results. like u never see single straight line formation in historical battles, what the hungry wolfs should have done was split their armies to 3, Centre, right and left flank, with a minumum of 4 lines at each a line of infantry, line of archers, and at least 2 lines of reserves to prolong front line battles, while the cav are always behind the 4 lines, rotating to enemy lines instead of attacking head on and being far away to the flanks with no support and being so predictable so they lose their element of surprise, the cav is just so precious in these battles that u can't afford losing them. but anw, gg guys really good plays

I'll give you the basic premise of the battle. I was the macedonian. Ulfr said he had to go to bed so I knew time was pressed against him. I also saw the faction match up and knew we would lose. So I told my team to line up and not engage. Skirmish only if you can win. Eventually I told them to both stop skirmishing which you obviously see they didn't do and lost the skirmish. So at this point I'm thinking we lost. I had macedonian companion cav that apollo had not paid attention too in between iceni and boii and when the hungry wolves attacked I charged through smashed through them and began to hammer and anvil kush. Once the finished there I sent them to help galatia. I did not attack selucid because even though we won the center and right I knew it was barely a win and if i charged recklessly at selucid and lost then it would ultimately be a win for the hungry wolves. So the game was patience. Once it was just selucid left I just went after their skirmishers (with ammo left) and pikes
Actually i think that UNBELIEVABLE TACTICS reference to that (macedonians i suppose) box - actually, that last player of the Hungry wolfs was a very tricky one and he played well in the last mins of battle. I’m new to Rome 2 but is this modded or just has all the steam dlcs?
Is there going to be a land battle tournement in the future?
How did the Korby team beat hungry wolves sides? I thought HW side was winning the skirmish battle. Was it the difference in quality of infantry?
I sent one unit of companion cav in between iceni and boii. When the HW had a delayed attack I sent my cav and charged a unit that had no support near it. Leveled them, then went to the archers. Then from the archers I sent them after his disciples of apedmak. After that I hammer and anviled 3 of his armoured shotels then killed his general with boii support. Kush was winning until my cav saved boii
Entertaining battle
it doesn't make any sense! the team that loses get to chose whether they want to attack or defend? so basically, you can lose intentionally?
I joined the knights of Apollo earlier today
I always liked your vids bro:)
And also your a smart man
Selucid be slacking
"Pitch Battle" LMAOOO I just imagined a battlefield where the armies are slinging burning pitch at each other. That, or a singing competition.
It's called a *pitched* battle.

Apollo I don't know if you see this comment but I want to ask if theres ginna be another siege tournament after this tournament ends?
He kept his cav there to try to get him to break formation an attack him. I think
Can you play multiplayer campaigns with more than 2 people?
Is this running with some visual mods? Those shields and assets look different...
No graphics are just on ultra
You should stream the final match, that would be epic
He will stream the finale

Great video turnament and all!
apollo do you know about the medevil 1100 ad mod little glitchy but its really fun try it out :)
why do people have to sword spam so much in field battles like try doing something else instead of spamming one unit type
???
@@jamesminter70 ???
I don't think you understand the way pitch battles work in game mate.
@@loneberserker4642 if you think that was a sword spam then I just don't think you mate. Personal opinion. There was no spam of any unit
@@jamesminter70 well for one he didnt even show the armies and for 2 look at the sword line for boii and iceni galatia was one of the only people who used a cool none spam army
