      @@DD-xw6uw Yeah, thats the point I was making. You wanted to know if Axelrod would win in the end and hoping you would, but with Prince, you dont care and you honestly hope he doesnt. Takes away the important dynamic of the show which was a sympathetic antagonist.

      Bobby is saying the numbers only show part of the picture. Someone could be #2 or #3 on that list but this could have been their best trading year etc. He wants the buzzcut to understand how and why the people are performing the way they are, that's the "inefficient" part, because buzzcut will have to spend time speaking with every analyst.

      News headlines explain scientific studies every day without knowing how to do it or even really understanding it.
      Scientists can do studies and write papers without explaining it in laymen's terms or communicate what it means to the masses by applying it. Few can do both and therefore create something novel and sell it.

    Is that really gonna make you billionaire?

    • @AirCheco2345
      @AirCheco2345 2 года назад +13

      Yes. Investment analysts take in the financial data and quantitative analysts do the math to provide the financial date. Putting these together add for a 2 way of investing that hedges both sides risk of only trusting 1 out of the 2. Hence the name “Hedge fund.” The owner of a billion dollar hedge fund needs to be the best at doing both so they can manage the whole company which is a mixup of both.

    • @arfa9601
      @arfa9601 2 года назад +8

      @@AirCheco2345 Wrong. The name “hedge fund” has nothing to do with “hedging the risk of trusting way 1 & way 2”. The name is rooted in history of long-short vehicles in contrast with rather traditional buy & hold ones. Basically, hedge funds try to employ models (discretionary, quantitative, or both) to make trading/investment decisions, construct portfolios, and actively manage various aspects of risk. A successful fund manager, if that’s what you meant by “hedge fund owner”, needs to have vast knowledge in investment space, excellent analytical skills, strong network, superb business development & management aptitudes, coupled with experience in technical aspects of financial markets. However, being best at neither financial analysis nor quantitative analysis that you mentioned is necessary. Cheers.

      Yeah, he needed those billions so he can properly compensate his partner's families, give them stock, keep their firm running so his 'dead' partners past efforts dont get wasted which also further benefits his partners families and also keep the firm running while being at its lowest point and facing negative public opinion. He could had just closed the firm, lay low for a while and start a new one, zero mouth to feed. But oh, its just a fictional story, my bad

      Then why isn't every millionaire a billionaire? 30m millionaires vs 700 billionaires (in the US). Still takes work whether you have money or not. Maybe you don't have to worry about your basic needs, but it still takes work even if you are born into wealth.
