There is no painful feeling that compares to the feeling of being 3,000 meters into a 6K

Just PR'd my 2k for 6:44.6 for February 2018 IRL challenge, definitely look forward to getting sub 6:30 (more pain to come). The pain cave is for real, but oddly it's also addicting.

It really can be. I find it even more so when I have a team to work for and not just myself.

For me, that pain cave is more mental than physical. During my 20:00 or 30:00 regular rows for distance, sometimes I hit the wall of, I don't wanna keep pushing this hard. Instead, my choice is to push a bit harder, to remind myself that I am going to keep my intensity. I want to gain every thing this 20:00 or 30:00 session can give me. It may hurt, even suck, but I welcome this opportunity to grow. I do many 20:00 rows and love the challenge of riding that intensity, that used to be found only in my 2K rows.

Thank you I'm taking notes on this because this is a very real feeling for me... doing my 2K tomorrow and trying hard to PR

Have you ever considered doing a video comparing the RP3 to the concept II? I'm interested to know the differences in the mechanics of the machine and how to maximize efficiency on both.

We have P mar. Definitely something we'd like to do in the near future as we grow and can invest more into our videos!

Preesh P mar. Love that we're reaching Philly. We have a bronze from Dad Vails in the collegiate novice 8+ so it holds a special place in our hearts.

3:05 , this one stroke is made like from Michelangelo....
art transformed in an athletic movement...
a perfect, sensually, harmony between athlet and the machine...
exceptionell beautiful ,absolute perfection... to be in love with it...
I hope, I come a bit near to such a perfection the next year in my rowing technique

The lat 5k I did made me “cave in” for real! I was not mentally ready for the hurt. Should have seen it coming 😭
    Will do better next time!

I think it’s funny I’ve seen a few vids before in high school and didn’t know he went to USD or never really paid attention until today when I realized I go to USD and I’m in the women’s rowing team (I lived in jersey)😂

The mental part of performance dropping if is normally much more a mental thank a physical, review your sessions , I look at sprints and check distance rowed every five seconds to see as a fact what was going on

Just keep focussing on completing every set of 5. Focus on smaller achievements within the larger one.

Could you please explain your technique? At 0:45, two strokes are shown in which you start to pull with your arms long time before your legs are extended (almost immediately after the catch). Ryan keeps them extended until his upper body is at least vertical and his legs fully extended.

Dan, Nikolas pointed out that, in the above video, Sean bends his elbows before his legs are fully stretched.
