I am almost 70. I have been living a sedentary lifestyle since the lockdowns forced me to retire. In the past I have lowered my blood pressure through changing my diet. I recall that I reduced my 150 over 90 BP to 110 / 70 without hardly trying, simply by eating less, eating sensibly and sometimes only eating one meal a day. But that was 6 or 7 years ago. Some time has passed since I've even checked my blood pressure. I was surprised this morning to find my blood pressure usually high, but last night I treated myself to anchovies on a pizza. So I am hoping that after that is out of my system my blood pressure will come down some. In December I began exercising. I am obese, and when I started I couldn't go 2 minutes. Now I can do 45 minutes, two times in the same day with sensible 1 minute breaks in between here and there. I'm just walking in place to the beat of music and shuffling back and forth and doing squats and bends from a standing position. And I am definitely building my stamina. While you describe the people who just don't want to exercise or just don't want to change their diet, I am the opposite. I'm happy to do those, but I am simply against taking meds. And due to my age I guess I am simply worried about having been surprised by a very high readout on my blood pressure monitor this morning. I am hoping the stress of that surprise doesn't continually give me a high reading. All of your informational videos on high blood pressure are helping and I just wanted to thank you for putting them up. Fingers crossed that I will have an improved reading tomorrow. 🤞

Again another super video. I have been diagnosed with white coat syndrome and good news my Doctor actually acknowledges it as so. I do take my own BP at home and present the results when I see my Doctor. Some years back when we, my wife and I , retired from our physically challenging jobs, we moved into the country and were able to change our diet to more fresh fruits, vegetables nuts and seeds. We were in fairly good shape when we left work and our diet was not horrible but we knew it was time to make it better. Having more time in our day, not working for someone else, made switching easier. We also added a treadmill to our daily routine. My wife had pre diabetes when we retired and in the last few months she has been taken off all medications for that. In fact we now only take thyroid medication and we are 72 and 71 years old. The advice you have given here is almost exactly what we have been doing now for around 6 years. We still get tired and sore but we feel GREAT. If anyone is wondering if this is good information? The simple answer is yes it is. But always check with your doctor. Do your own home work. Make sure to balance everything. Too much of anything is still too much. Thank you Dr. Story.

I was prescribed hydralazine by my cardiologist for moderately high blood pressure. It triggered hydralazine induced Lupus Nephritis. I nearly died. It took a year and a half of intensive treatment, a quadruple bypass, 4 subsequent surgeries to fix sternal wire infections until the surgeon accepted that I am allergic to metal and removed the sternal wires. But it was when I began working out with a strength trainer that i truly began to recover

OMG this is terrible, So sorry for all your suffering and trauma due to their stupid methods. They have one way of reacting, in the box, treat people like cattle. I have lost faith in the medical cult, almost completely. Do your own research. Right now I am using Dr. Joe Dispenzia's guided meditations online to heal myself to avoid their toxic drugs. These methods heal deeply, not just suppress symptoms until you die. But bring back your health, body, mind and spirit. All the damage that was done to you, I believe can be healed. Check out the hundreds of Dr. Joe's community of testimonials and be inspired. I am using the online free guided meditations and healing at home. There are workshops if you have the means. Best of luck to regain your health.

My first visit to a cardio Dr told me that because I have metabolic syndrome, I have a 30% chance of having a stroke or dying in the next 10 years if I didn't take meds. He never asked me what I ate. I came across your videos and tried eating beets. My blood pressure went down. Following the findings of other doctors, I managed to lower my other issues. Taking meds is the last resort for me.

Many years as a young guy, my BP was high, so high it kept me from being drafted into military. Doctor at the pre-induction physical said, "Son, with BP as high as yours, you'll be lucky to live to be 30. Go see a doctor when you get home. " It was OK at local doctor's office. Still, my BP runs high. Is there a way to test it where the machine doesn't freak me out? I am so scared of high BP that the act of taking my BP gets me very nervous.

I find that purely starting the pressure monitor often raises my bp. I have on occasion obtained a decent reading but sometimes after having taken my readings that I need to remove the sleeve and relax in an armchair to calm myself down. I am, however, losing weight and improving my diet, albeit that I have a few years until I reach 70.

I took pics of my reading every day for a month and showed her my normal readings. She made me bring my bp monitor to her office so she could compare the reading to her monitor….they were the same. She still wanted to put me on a 5th bp med.

None of my doctors have mentioned this (inflammatory foods), but gleaned this info recently from other RUclips videos. Two weeks ago did a 72 hour complete fast and dropped 7 pounds. Have been eating light since. I would say that I am enjoying this new path that I have taken and hoping for some pleasant turns up ahead.

I believe I have white coat syndrome. 2023 was a difficult year, I was medical power of attorney for my sister and husband and watched each take their last breath. I go to the VA for medical treatment so my Dr is located in a hospital. My anxiety just driving there gets so bad it feels like my heart is going to burst. I actually exhale once I sit in my car to leave. Last appointment I took a copy of my daily readings, showing my bp is only high in the office. The Dr wanted to put me on additional medication. I actually stopped taking all bp meds because my morning bp was less than 100 over 60's.
When the nurse was discussing nutrition and what to eat and drink I explained that I drink herbal teas like hibiscus and tulsi and she actually said I should because it could lower my bp. I said, isn't that the goal.

    • @PheonixtheCat

It seems the medical system is there to push drugs willy nilly, and they are always forever drugs, until you die with no chance of cure. I avoid them like the plague.
I am meditating, using Dr. Joe's guided meditations and other resources. Also have the hibiscus tea, ginger and other things for anxiety, chronic pain from extremely tight muscles in hip and thigh. Their drugs are so toxic, and horrible side effects, I am almost off the couple I was on. Allopathic medicine is dominant not because it is the best, but because Rockefeller did not believe in competition, so he aggressively created a monopoly. This began around 1902 there is a documentary by James Corbett, Big oil and big Pharma. Also books I have read how this was undertaken to create the power of the whitecoats and their golden handcuffs. Estuce Mullen, the poison needle... better stop!

I'm a fraction of a year from 70 and per my PCP I have HP, on lowest dose of HCTZ/Lisinopril. I would suggest "White Coat Syndrome" exists but primarily not for the same reason. The white coats exist in a place where the process of obtaining a resting BP is not well executed, coupled with patient lack of knowledge. Prior to my appointments always at 10:00 am, I grab my McD's coffee and a burrito, drive 30 minutes and check-in. Bladder? I assume I'm okay, but sometimes maybe that would have helped. 5 minute rest? Never. Typically talking up to cuff placement, but at least it's quiet during the test. High 140's, to low 150's. He wants 7 readings over a week to use 5 of them, all taken at different times, one per day to determine how to adjust my meds. The engineer in me says, 3 readings each time, performed morning, afternoon and evening. 9 readings per day. 10 days, 90 readings so far. Averages recorded for each hour. Guess which one was worse. 134/77 (from 9 readings) 10:00 am to 10:59am. No others above that. 7 hour durations within 120's, 6 durations within 110's and 2 with 102 and 107. I think I need to change my appointment times and start enforcing the proper protocols to get more restful readings. I plan to add in some cardio as my form of "adjustment.

Yes, the paranoia and anxiety can build to a point where you can develop / have "white-coat syndrome" just taking your BP at home. People who have had a lot of health / medical issues can develop a kind of PTSD, where the whole subject causes internal stress. Also, I've come to believe that readings in a medical setting (doctor's office, clinic, hospital, etc.) are almost worthless for most people because of the setting and the way / time it's done.

  • @vickiepatterson1748

I was diagnosed with high blood pressure in my 20's and after doing some research, I figured out it was White Coat Syndrome.
I discussed it with my doctor and he gave me a chart to take home to record my blood pressure for two weeks.
The record showed my blood pressure to be normal and sometimes low, even after riding a bike.
I took the chart back to the doctor with my blood pressure machine. He took my blood pressure with his machine then with mine. Both readings were the same and my blood pressure was high because I was in a doctor's office.
I'm over 70 now and my blood pressure is always elevated in the doctor's office!
I started seeing a new doctor who is my PCP. My blood pressure has always been high when I see her. I was put on two blood pressure meds on my first visit.
She took me off the second one because of side effects. After seeing her for four years, my blood pressure was finally down in her office (106/69).
I also see a pain doctor because of severe back pain, even after surgery. I've seen him for over six years to try to control the pain. My blood pressure is sky high every time I go to his office.
If my pain level is at 8 or 9, I expect my blood pressure will be high. I usually sit in my car when I reach the medical building and do breathing exercises before I enter the building.
I have trouble walking without a cane. I'm currently in physical therapy and my knees are in bad shape too.
I do exercises in a chair and in bed too.
I had two falls Thanksgiving week. The second one was definitely caused from my knees.
My legs are different lengths, one is 1 1/2" shorter. Orthopedic shoes are usually covered by insurance only if you're diabetic and I'm not diabetic.
I can feel the difference when I walk and sometimes I wear two different height shoes when I'm taking a walk around home.
They usually take my blood pressure at least five times when I see the pain doctor and they use different machines. I've asked them to take it at the end and sometimes it's a little better.
I've had White Coat Syndrome for 50 years. After having a MRI of my brain, they told me that I had a mini stroke. The neurologist put me on baby aspirin and he and the neurosurgeon contacted me about my neck compression.
I had a fusion in my neck in the middle of the pandemic. That surgery worked great and I can move my neck again.
I continue to check my blood pressure at home and at times it's a little elevated but I'm still in constant pain.
It's hard for me to get around but I keep going at a slow pace. My cane helps with my balance and I don't think I'll ever be in a wheelchair.🤞
I definitely have anxiety when I go to a doctor. The older I get, the more anxious I am.

We are all animals, although, we are higher up on the food chain. Should we eat the wrong way, smoke and drink our heads off and not expect something to be off? I suggest, all or at least most people don’t eat a proper, human diet, and will throw off something. When was the last time you took your dog or cat’s blood pressure? If you have a pet Caribou have you taken its blood pressure lately? All animals, including us, are self regulating, self healing. I gave up on the medical profession a long time ago, because most doctors think that a pill will fix something, although, if one is born diabetic type one, you will need insulin. Type 2 individuals better make lifestyle changes or else. Don’t get me wrong, medicine has its place, but most people eat too much of the wrong foods that’s causing them harm. 🤷‍♂️
