    Thanks for sharing, I have been crafting since I was 17, I am now 67. I started painting then scrapbook albums , cards and now I enjoy making journals . I am redoing my craft room, I do wish it looked as neat and organized as yours. But its a work in process.

      It definitely takes a lot of time and energy to get organized! My husband is excellent at it and has helped me set up and reorganize several times. It’s often really easy to get overwhelmed when you have so much to keep neat!

    Laura, beautifully done! The most important thing about ANY creative space is that it's organized to make sense to the one who creates there, and you have obviously found just what system works for you! Can you tell me what brand your Matte Mat is? I have 5 or 6 different mats and they ALL get that light ring or glare from the lights...even my self healing mats. I could tell when your lights were on that you had none of that. i would love to go check out the mat!! Thanks again for taking the time to share! Marianne

    • @lauraalbertscrafts
      @lauraalbertscrafts  3 года назад +1

      Thank you very much, Marianne! I completely agree! Finding a system that works for the way you create is so helpful! The mat I use is from Fiskars and it's a silicone mat in 18x24" and I love it! It's great for easy clean-up of mixed media and love that it removes the glare from my table top as well.

      Thank you! Yes! I am active scrapper, so I prefer open and clear storage so I can find things pretty quickly. It allows me to be more efficient! That said, it’s not usually this clean, I am a piler...there are always piles on every surface which drives my husband crazy. 😂

    On the mint green cart from Michael's where you said that you didn't know what that was for, is probably for thread or wire spools. I do both sewing and wire jewelry so that is what I'd use them for. I don't think there is a right or wrong way to use that area, just wanted to give you an option that I'd use them for..

    • @lauraalbertscrafts
      @lauraalbertscrafts  4 года назад

      Thank you, Michele! I think the first step is to really evaluate how you scrap. When you need an extra embellishment, do you think, “I need an ephemera piece” or “I need something pink” or “I need that Maggie Holmes piece”? I tend to think of the last one, so I can pull that whole collection out for that piece. I mostly use the random stuff for kits and so they are all easy to access, so I can flip through everything quickly and easily. I do not like searching my stash, I want to be able to find things quickly. With things in categories by type, I can quickly flip through my options without taking apart my craft room to get to it.

    • @lauraalbertscrafts
      @lauraalbertscrafts  3 года назад +1

      Understandable! I felt that way in 2017 when I discovered scrapbooking on RUclips, but trying out designer collections from American Crafts changed my creative process and excited me to scrap again! I did go overboard that year in building up a stash and being on Design Teams for the last 4 years has definitely built up my stash a lot more, but I enjoy having the variety and finding new treasures every time I search through my stuff! I have started building stash kits this year to really push myself to use older collections too.

    Wow! Nicely done room! I love it! BUT, I am truly and honestly interested in knowing how all this is obtained so quickly by many of you younger gals! I am almost horrified at the amount of crafting supplies and the containers and furniture to store them in!! I am 69 and have been sewing and crafting for 45 plus years and do not have anywhere near the amount of stuff you do, I do have a large room to sew and craft in, and I have 3 sewing type machines, 2 laptops, a Silhouette Cameo, a Big Shot die cutter, and a printer. A double high desk, a long sewing table cabinet, three tables to craft on and couple storage shelves, 4 cabinets with drawers and a 6x8 closet with shelves, all acquired over the many years. But I have no where near that many supplies! I have to be frugal usually. I am trying to understand where you young ladies get all the money to buy all that stuff?? Over my entire life I could never afford all those supplies and extra gadgets, and I would never have time to use it all! And have done many projects over all these years and actually finish most of them. But I am just mystified by the massive rooms full of this stuff that I see on the internet. Anyone that would like to reply to me is appreciated.

    • @lauraalbertscrafts
      @lauraalbertscrafts  4 года назад +1

      Thank you, Sandy. I have been scrapbooking since I was 15, so it's been 21 years of accumulating supplies. This was certainly not a short burst of spending sprees. I've also been on design teams for several years and you accumulate a lot of free supplies that way for your work. On top of that, I received a lot of the more expensive things as gifts from family over the years. I also am an avid scrapper, creating an average of 250-300 layouts/projects a year, so I have no fears that I won't use my stash. I make gift albums as well and give them away. I assure you, my stash is well used and cultivated with only my favorite things. As for the storage, IKEA has a ton of affordable shelving units that make it very easy to organize crafty supplies!

      Thank you, Delores! Yes, my craft room is what I like to call a "working craft room" because I'm in it creating daily. Everything needs to be organized and accessible, not necessarily pretty. I agree with you, there are some rooms that blow my mind just for the sheer volume of all the things they maintain. Others are so minimal that I think I would get bored. It's finding that happy medium that works for your style of creating that really makes the space best for you.

      No. The purpose of this video is to show how to organize craft supplies. If you're a regular viewer of my channel, you would know that I create 250-300 layouts/projects a year. None of my stash is over 5 years old and I've been scrapbooking/crafting for over 20 years. If you didn't want to see how my craft room is organized/items are stored, why click on the video in the first place? My channel is a positive focused space, continued rude comments will get you blocked.
