- Episode 27 Guilin Part One
We were so excited to finally explore more of China together during China's October National Holiday. Thanks to COVID-19, we had to cancel our travel plans and rebook to a new province at VERY last minute.
Major well done to Miu and Venus for organising everything and making my life very easy.
Due to the last minute changes we ended up flying to Guilin, Guangxi via Nanjing- an unconventional and long-winded travel day to say the least. Luckily for me, it meant I was able to explore a new city along the way!
We had a great, if not brief, time in Nanjing. I can't wait to go back and explore the city in more depth in future.

Those images of the clouds from the plane are amazing! Having watched The China Traveller and Blondie In China's videos on Nanjing cuisine, I'd go to Nanjing just for beef dumplings and salted duck. Did you guys happen to try those off camera?
Unfortunately we had less than 10 hours in Nanjing (including needing to get a nights sleep) so we didn’t get a chance to do much 😭 We are planning to go back when we can and spend a full weekend there as it’s so close to Shanghai, the cuisine is amazing, and Miu knows the city very well. I also watched Blondie in China’s Nanjing video and was very jealous that we didn’t get a chance to try it all! ❤
That largest rail station is actually Nanjing South, which is much nearer to NKG than the old Nanjing Railway Station, and a direct airport metro line connects to Nanjing South as well. Just FYI.
Yes, I didn’t actually film when we were there and didn’t have much footage so the largest metro station is IN Nanjing, but it’s not the one shown in the video 😂 Sorry if that was unclear 😬🥰 We did change over there but didn’t have time to explore in this trip
It would be great to hear about differences in customs in the places you travel to, whether it be between Uk and China or Shanghai and the rural areas

You might have to start giving us the equivalent prices in USD or euros soon since the pound has recently crashed thanks to the decisions of the ex chancellor and is well on its way to zero on the international money markets 😩

I was an expat once too - working in 'the City' in London and I think the next domino to fall is the UK pension funds (due to liability driven investments that bet on perpetually low interest rates - so your joke about a return to the barter system might not be too far off!
My friend tells me if the great reset comes we will all be travelling and checking in like this (he is a bit of tin foil hat kinda fellow, though somehow has a PhD in some kind of advanced maths) - anyways just wanted to say sometimes the journey travel and obstacles make it as interesting as the destination itself
I actually really enjoy travel days, especially long train journeys where I get to pass through fields, mountains, and small towns. I think that’s half of the fun of traveling! ❤ Thanks for watching ❤
