Since you live in China, there's absolutely nothing wrong with learning a bit of Chinese too. You looked like a princess in the last western bridal gown. Your hair looked beautiful. You looked fantastic in the Chinese gown too. IMO, the hairstyle makes all the difference with the Chinese costume.

Whilst I can converse with my friends, colleagues, and husband who use mandarin, many family members do not use standard mandarin and it wouldn’t be possible to learn all the dialects and languages.
