Hi, I am a Chinese living in the UK. Although I am not at all a fan of the current Chinese authorities, and I don't support their actions towards the Uyghur people in recent years, I must express some disagreement with how you referred to Xinjiang in this video and in a previous one, where you mentioned being detained in Russia. Several times you referred to Xinjiang as the 'province of the Uyghurs' or similar phrases, and in this video, you seemed to suggest that Xinjiang, had it not been for China's recent 'invasion and hegemony,' would have customs similar to Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia. I would like to offer a different perspective. My hometown is Urumqi, in Xinjiang, and I am Chinese, or, as you might understand, Han Chinese. I want to point out that Han Chinese have a long history of settling in Xinjiang, predating the Uyghur presence in the region in many perspectives. According to credible family records, my Han ancestors have been living in Xinjiang for at least 300 years, and it's said that their earlier ancestors were already residing in the area of modern Xinjiang and Kyrgyzstan during the Tang Dynasty. These ancestors were mostly Han Chinese. In fact, Han Chinese had already established the Silk Road over 2,000 years ago, leading to significant migration into Xinjiang. At that time, the ancestors of the Uyghur people-who were part of various ancient peoples of the Western Regions of China-might have already been living in Xinjiang, but the Uyghur ethnic identity as we understand it today did not fully form until much later, particularly after Islam became a significant part of their identity. From this perspective, Han Chinese settlement in Xinjiang predates the formation of the Uyghur people as an ethnic group, and even if you don't agree with that view, you must acknowledge that historically, Han Chinese have lived in Xinjiang for many periods, well before the founding of the CCP. So, Xinjiang is not just the homeland of the Uyghurs; it is also the homeland of millions of Han Chinese. Just like in one of your previous videos where a Russian woman asked you about your ethnicity, and you said 'New York,' because for you, New York is home, the place where your parents and their parents lived. The historical European colonial invasion of the Americas is an original sin, but that’s a few centuries ago, and it has nothing to do with you. You are a legitimate resident of America, and America is your country. Similarly, I am Han Chinese, and my hometown is Xinjiang. As a Han person whose faimily has lived in Xinjiang for generations, it is just as legitimate and rightful as if you, as a white person, have lived in the United States for generations. Xinjiang is not only the Uyghurs’ homeland; it is the homeland of over 10 million Han Chinese people. Most of us were not immigrants after the founding of the CCP. Xinjiang has a rich and locally distinctive Han Chinese culture. As someone who is very knowledgeable about China, I’m sure you can verify the truth of what I’m saying. Also, in one of your previous videos, where you mentioned some of your thoughts in Urumqi, I was both worried and grateful. On the one hand, I was concerned for you, as it’s easy to put yourself in trouble, but on the other hand, I appreciate you mentioning the heroes of the White Paper Revolution. That's reasonable. Never meant to suggest the Han haven't been there for a long time, although Urumqi was never a big city until very recently. In any case, hopefully you'll enjoy my visit to Xinjiang, I try to be as fair as possible

4:41 Probably I'm the only one, but I miss people cleaning with brooms. It's so quieter and relaxing. Leaf-blowers are noisy and generate clouds of dust.
11:12 Russia's influence is greater since there was the USSR. But it is also important to note that China has its own information field very limited to China only, a completely different language, and also the Tian Shan Mountains are located on the border with China. It is difficult to physically intercept such a physical border. Also, the western part of China mainly consists of Uighurs and ethnic Kazakhs and Kyrgyz, sparsely populated
@@seanj5602 I think 'Westerners' of the modern age are too cosseted. Being presented with an uncomfortable truth should do that, make you feel awkward.
@@seanj5602 Tommy didn’t really handle the beginning of that conversation in the most polite fashion, which likely made the grandpa feel awkward. I know I was cringing from Tommy’s dismissiveness AFTER having started the conversation. The grandpa was just trying to smooth things over by exhibiting concern and kindness. He probably does not see very many childless 37 year old men. He wasn’t judging in the same fashion as one’s own family member might. It’s a fairly common comment by older people in the U.S. too. It’s not the world’s problem that Tommy wanders around childless when almost 100% of humans procreate. I highly doubt this is the first time someone has commented such in his travels. You would think he would have formulated a more gracious response for the man who was trying to give him some historical context to the Soviet tank T55? T62? T64? Who knows, because Tommy began then inexplicably decided to end the conversation when he heard something interesting.

Love the life advice from the older gent at 7:15. It’s true, he’s trying to help guide you to other happiness with children, but it’s ok to be happy doing your own thing too. But just know… that kids bring their own joy that is hard to describe until you’ve had one of your own.
I'm sure they do. But you should only have them if you want them. Having kids just to tick off a life milestone is not necessarily a good idea, for you or the kids. And you should only have them with someone you want to raise kids with. Too many people are just getting married to whoever they can to have kids and it often ends in disaster.
He is agency dude. Since 2015 they use social medias as cover up😆 So that they can do their missions and pretend "oh i am just a travel youtube vlogger thats why i am in this odd place" 😂 The fact also he speak so many languages fluently. Many of different alphabet is also another indication. Because agency people learn languages a lot due to their international missions Russia is not crazy they dont jail tourist or expat. But they have extremely advanced investigation counterspy. So you cannot play bs or try to trick them 😅😂

If he died then who uploaded the video???
@frag0638 how does your sarcasm answer his question, duffus?
the crash happened like this week, the video is before he started his journey accross Russia, he even says "there's a direct flight back to Moscow"...
If you say, “don’t crash into the mountain” three times…it’s like Beetlejuice…it will happen! Thank goodness you only muttered it twice
Haha, like Bloody Mary or Candyman.
It was a close shave with old magic unwitting
You have to be careful with cheap sunglasses. They probably don't have UV protection. Your eyes dilate and without UV protection more UV light gets inside your eyes. You damage your retina more with cheap sunglasses instead of just not wearing any sunglasses. 😎
100%!!!
I want to write the same 👍 a lot of people make this mistake
Those are thistle plants you goofball. 🙃 Fun adventure Tommy!
Well the tractor might have something to do with the 17$ 😂 meanwhile, the wedding photoshoot, the grandpa's meaning of life advice....must be a sign Tommy 😂
The collab I was not expecting! Small Brained American is the chad of traveling, love that dude. ERREEEEE
Kyrgyzstan airliner... what could go wrong
gotta love the timing hey.
Still have a chance as long as the plane isn’t built by Boeing. Lol
Could get mistaken for a Uk drone
Well not Kazakhstan
😵
Still a better experience than Spirit Airlines I'm sure
Spirit aint got shit on air India.
@@danielnaberhaus5337#FreddyLaker?
Man this is so timely after the Kazakhstan plane crash!
LOVE YOUR content Tommy, as you use your brain and inform us unlike those with their male parts like Kurt Caz!
Seriously though!
This is not Kazakhstan
Gehe gerade durch eine miese Zeit, aber deine vlogs machen alles besser! Vielen, vielen Dank ❤
4:41 Probably I'm the only one, but I miss people cleaning with brooms. It's so quieter and relaxing. Leaf-blowers are noisy and generate clouds of dust.
We need bylaws on them
When i watched the Podcast i knew a Collab was incoming🎉❤
“Maladets” is more used to say proud of you/good job and congratulations would be “patsravlayu” just fyi, love your content!
Ah. Спасибо

Tommy, thank you for traveling where most will ever go…safe travels sweetheart ❤❤❤
Sabbatical u got me cracking up 😂😂😂😅
Great video, very scenic country.
That plant looked like a thistle, the symbol of Scotland.
I met a girl from Kyrgyzstan years ago in Thailand, wowwwwww! She was superb!
Yeah kirgiz are basicaly east asian with more curves. And might have some european features, look eurasian or latina. Depending on the women 😂
@@mathewvanostin7118 Exactly!
Shh...Best kept secret. The Kyrgyzstan women are stunning
@ One of the best, if not the best.
Ah, Thailand😂
The actual two best travel RUclipsrs together omg
As a long time follow of both you and @smallbrainedamerican, this is the collab I never knew I needed. Please let there be more!
Yo! You met up with small brained american! Awesome. You guys and Marco Roams are my favorites.
My 2 favorite travelers! You both are awesome!
I can add that China's economic influence is growing in Central Asia, but culturally stronger ties remain to Russia.
I love your videos, channel.
Be safe. 😊
You learn the local language so very easy. You must be very brilliant.
He's speaking Russian
@@IzzyHaye Thank You.
Love your stories about these places I would love to visit someday but never will. Thanks again.
Dude. Don't ask people about the government in these places.
Seriously 😳!
It's fine, relax
my two favorite youtube channels collide, all love!
The Kyrgyz gentleman knows a thing or two about life, really awesome advice!
Wouldn’t call it advice but rather judgmental preaching. Could tell it made Tommy feel awkward.
Two years ago their consulate in DC was open to guests during the embassy’s open house weekend. I remember the hats, music and free bites. The hospitality was wonderful and I learned a lot about a “Stan” I knew very little about. It was one of the best and i wanted to learn more about this country. Your video has helped me with a on the ground insight. Love your sarcasm BTW
"You have to get a wife" killed me
speaking the truth
It's so good to see my favourite youtube folks filming together.
I've followed Bald and Bankrupt for years. Back in January I discovered Small Brained American, and now Bald and Bankrupt collabed with him. Discovered you a couple months ago, and now you collabed with Small Brained American.
Now just waiting for Mike Okay to jump on this train 😂
Hello Tommy!😊
Thanks for taking us to places we could never make it to. The world is a pretty place.
Glad in this case Russia decided not to shoot down its own airliner, so thats something at least.
Both of my favorite RUclipsrs together. Great video
Yeah! Dinnertime, a travel documentary... it's like Christmas all over! 🎅
Hey Tommy have you ever visited Russia? I hear it’s a super safe and popular place for western tourists these days, you should check it out 🇷🇺🇷🇺
He did and went to jail.
@@chazschultz2465 He was detained in a restricted area without documents. It was a violation of the law, and he knew it. that it will be so.
He let himself arrested in Russia on false pretense to attract more dudes for his russophobia videos.
@@freddiethompson58 what drugs are you on?
He is agency dude. Since 2015 they use social medias as cover up😆
So that they can do their missions and pretend "oh i am just a travel youtube vlogger thats why i am in this odd place" 😂
The fact also he speak so many languages fluently. Many of different alphabet is also another indication. Because agency people learn languages a lot due to their international missions
Russia is not crazy they dont jail tourist or expat. But they have extremely advanced investigation counterspy. So you cannot play bs or try to trick them 😅😂
Another interesting adventure. Thanks, Tommy.
You showed gas pipes going through Kyrgyzstan they look like about 1" diameten or something like that I got gas pipes behind my house that are like a foot in diameter or maybe even larger so it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
Methane pipes
There are various types of pipes, some are thin, some are thick af
tommy being a tourist, but, sooo far from a tourist... we don't appreciate the language barrier he's so casually kicked down. goat!
He’s exceptionally talented.
He picks up languages in a few months
obrigado, wxatamwnte no momento em que eu estava indo dormir apareceu teu video novo... agora vou ter que assistir e acordar atrasado amanha....

My two favourite travel bloggers in one video. Yeah baby
Who's the other?
@@Will-qk2djwho’s the other vlogger influencer?

Same literally the 2 I enjoy the most.
Kyrgyzstan is a beautiful country. It looks like many places in the Western US, but greener, like it gets more rain.
"don't like China" lady and little man of the house both look like the people on the reservations of Northern Arizona.
Thanks for sharing this video.
Tommy go back to central america brother, it's safer now.. love to see you visit places where Morazan stood and brought Central America together as one country!
He was sent by his homeland, on the border with China, important events will soon take place there, do not interfere with the US special services with your advice.
I spent the summer of 2013 in Kyrgyzstan! It’s a wonderful place!
Good wisdom spoken from the old man
Good collaboration with Small Brain American
Tommy is the most likeable RUclipsr out there , now he got the streets behind him after his first Jailtime😂❤🎉
This is like a Batman/Superman team up. Love to see you two Chads traveling together!
This person is the perfect example of a non-indigenous American who’s been around the world but hasn’t really experienced it on a deeper level. They excel at throwing shade and talking nonsense, which is pretty clear from other travel videos. It’s surprising that this narrator doesn’t seem to check out those videos for some perspective. Thanks!
Yeah, ok.
Yeah, he makes some salty comments here and there.
You're too sensitive. Lighten up.

Do you plan to visit all of the former Soviet countries? It will be interesting to follow your journey.
