I was once at a party where deep-fried grasshoppers were served. I ended up eating most of them, as hardly anybody else would touch them. If bugs truly are the food of the future, I'm pretty excited. Though I'm less excited about the legs still wriggling hours after death.
I don't think insect's legs still wriggle after death?
I don't mind as long as the flavor is alright. I tried a silkworm snack from Thailand and it tasted a lot like tamago kani. I hated the taste.

@@Alex-qj3wp they do for some time. it's because of their weird (compared to ours) nervous system. you can decapitate a roach and it will still run around possibly for days.... untill the body runs out of nutriens to burn so basically untill it starves or is dehydrated...

Oh my gosh when you said "I hope they don't pop"... In Idaho we have these crickets just about ping pong ball sized and some years they "bloom" which means there will be so many that people could slide off the road. As a kid I remember camping in it and the crickets marching into the campfire and popping. Sounded like popcorn 😆
Greyandgreenfeathers dude, I've never heard of it getting so bad people slide off, but I've also had them hop into camp fires. Elder bugs also are a huge issue in the part of idaho I live and one year there was so many that each step I took, I stepped on at least 2 elder bugs. Its a quiet, but very satisfying pop

I have a big surplus of roaches now that I left gecko breeding behind. I have just my one old lady leo so I have been trying tofigure out what to do with them... That moment when you realize you trust Emily so much that you probably wouldn’t try a roach yourself unless Emily asked you to.
I'm obviously late, but you are way different than other pet owners on RUclips, you give information that has really helped me and other people (no doubt) with their pets, so they can be a owner they strive to be. Nothing is worse than being uneducated on the care for animals, mammal or reptile (I have unfortunately experienced that many times when I was young) and now I can share my education on reptiles and their care to others because of you! I get really depressed and stressed when I can't find out how to care for my animals but you make life so much easier and enjoyable (for me and my snake!) You are so amazing and honestly a hero to me and my little baby snake, Sam. Keep up the good work, you deserve 50 million!

I have the same frying pan... just green. I cooked 17 year locust last summer with mine. I ate around thirty locust, then went into the woods to play in the creek and started having a very bad allergic reaction. My mouth went numb, my throat itched, I swelled up and turned red. Then finally passed out on the floor.

I’m from central Mexico and though I don’t think we have a cockroach dish we do have grasshopper and mealworm dishes (worm tacooos)! In the cities they’re treated as fancy or ‘challenge’ dishes but out in the countryside it’s a pretty common thing. This was amusing to watch, a great celebration (two years ago, look how far you’ve come since the. Omg!) Maybe I should try teriyaki roaches myself sometime haha.
I always compare it to seafood, like there’s really not that big a difference between eating shrimp or crab to these land arthropods. (Quite tasty).
