- This is how I make RUclips videos! I dunno if anyone is actually interested in this, but I followed myself around for a week with a camera, and here’s what happened!

This was really cool to see! I love when RUclipsrs lift the curtain and show their process, from small details like where you record voice over or how you factor in breaks for your wellness, it shows how much thought and effort goes into making the most of... you!
Yeah, I thought it was really enlightening. You think, oh you are just a RUclips person, you don't work, but seeing all the work he puts in for a single video...
@@matts6093 tons of people have this view and have no idea how much actual work it is. Brent was actually downplaying it here because it's impossible to really convey a workweek in a short video.

I was also totally impressed by the amount of hard work required to produce a video, Brent does a stellar job of not letting any tension transpire, but it must be tough to handle everything thinking about the deadline of the weekly posting. Really really educational video!
@@BlackMagicCraftOfficial : Mannn, for real. Coming from a manual labor background, I can honestly say I feel more wore out after a week of making an episode than I would after a week of using a post-hole digger. I underestimated the MENTAL aspect to all this. Factor in the steady stream of correspondences, and it's a fair amount to juggle while keeping your energy up. :)
I’d rather do it in person, but if this is the only way I can hang out with Brent for a week I’ll take it.

I feel like you would have to agree, I think you became 'successful' 'recognized' 'established' on RUclips INCREDIBLY fast.
I remember seeing one of your very first videos and feeling like you were a 'household name' almost over night.

Oh, also, this video was really awesome. It's a total buffet of useful and insightful tidbits. I used to be on a similar path but something inside me radically changed a few years back and I stopped pursuing making videos, but I still love observing all the wonderful DIY tidbits.

Brent is so wholesome in these videos. Makes my day a little better every time I see one.
I cant get enough of this channel, the atmosphere of it is calm and easy going and it encouraged me to try out minis of which i now have done 10. I have always painted tanks and ships but only because of Brent and the channel I am now having great fun with minis of all kinds. Keep up the great work Brent.

Great job with your voice overs, they feel natural like it was a single take. I didn't realize how much effort it took to make that happen, thanks for putting in the hours to make some of the most calming hobby videos on RUclips!

That running part is straight out of an Evil Dead movie. I was half expecting it to end up at a cabin in the woods. Also a great movie! Love the video!

The amount of work you put in over a week is truly impressive, and after all of that you can run through the woods at incredible speeds!

I don’t think many people really know how much work goes into a short 10min video. Great behind the scenes video man!
You know from my perspective this video should be dedicated to your cats , especially Ginger, as he/she is so photogenic and loves being part of the show, even if its a bum shot. Cheers Brent.

Your gratitude for you opportunity is touching Brent. The fact that you got a PHD in chemistry and really applied yourself and then decided to become a youtuber with your passion for painting minis really shows that its not about money, its about happiness and that you value that very much. I am sure you are passionate about chemistry too =D Its obvious in your videos that you are a chill laid back and happy person. I really enjoy that about you Brent and can honestly say you get the credit for inspiring my kids and I to paint minis. You are doing a great thing and I look forward to watching more of your vids.

Brent! If you use a dog training “clicker” or clap your hands loudly after every mistake while recording voice over, you can see the spikes pretty clearly in the waveforms and it might help you get through that part of editing more quickly. :)
That... that is a really good idea! Once you have a system down that sounds really efficient. Maybe a special pattern of clicks when I do a good take? I must think on this! :-)
Well you'd actually need another person for that, like having someone tickle you instead of tickling yourself, though implicit conditioning is a real phenomenon, and the rewards are natural!
@@GoobertownHobbies , oh hang on. I just realized that I thought about it before I was supposed to think about it. Anyway Brent, check out Thorndike's _Revised Law of Effect_ , and be amazed by the total inefficiency of punishment instead of positive responses.
Watched every minute of this video. I have a small channel that I used to do RC content on. I haven't made a video in 2 years. I miss it. I really enjoyed watching your work flow Brent.

Jeez even Goobertown is living the hustle culture lifestyle - monday through sunday - I really respect all the work you put into your channel but at the same time I hope you get enough rest and time that has no connection to content creation. Of course this is just an outside perspective I took from the video.

This video was incredible Brent, I loved it! It's actually quite inspiring and relieving as a new painter to see that even an experienced painter like yourself takes multiple days to finish a project. Definitely puts into perspective that taking time to finish painting is better for all of us.

This is one of my favorite behind the scenes videos I have ever watched. You mixed up everything you do in the order in which you do it instead of trying to make it look like a process is all on one timeline.

Thank you for sharing! Loved that you left in the recording flubs! I got to experience that myself while making season one of our Alignment May Vary D&D radio play. It's amazing how easy it is to flub words that you've been saying your entire life the moment a microphone is turned on.

I really enjoyed the video. I've been struggling to make my own so this really helps. One trick that I picked up as I was trying to improve my editing was to edit backwards. Assuming your last take was the best you can skip over all the failed takes into the next section. Marking sections where an edit is needed, such as by clapping twice to create a distinct signature in the timeline, is a good idea as well.
That makes a lot of sense! Sometimes my takes get worse with time though hahahaha :-)
I first one to say thank you for continuing to post videos of you painting miniatures ! It really makes me happy to see you doing something you enjoy. I myself have recently got into the miniature hobby, and watching your video really inspires me to continue on, even though at times I get frustrated by my progress and ability. I hope to one day be able to paint as well as you! Many thanks and I hope you continue to post inspiring and insightful videos!

Oh you can do a vlog with a cell phone if you want! All of the crazy stuff in my studio has been acquired over a few years to make little improvements here or there. :-)

just wanted to leave a comment on how amazing your videos are. You got me inspired to get back into the hobby after 15 years. Even found a local Warhammer store a few miles from my home! I just painted my first set of savage greenskins the other day and very happy to be back!

This was a brilliant peek behind the curtain. It's always refreshing to see the non crispy painting videos every once in a while! It's also nice to hear that you take time to interact with other videos and such. I know as a small channel it can be easy to feel like you are out at sea by yourself, a comment from somebody at your level must really help lift help you up. Thanks for always being an awesome part of the community. I need to comment more, I've been a silent viewer for far too long haha

I had nothing to do with NQA obtaining any sensitive information. Arch got many very important facts wrong in that video. I have asked him to take it down because it is slanderous. I put a response on the video as soon as I saw it, but the response is lurking down deep in the comments now because arch will not pin it.

Let me start by saying that i truly believe that your are a good person at heart.
But what you did was stupid and wrong on so many levels.
And worst of all, someone else will suffer the consequences.
Arch's video is wrong to the point of being slanderous. I never sent any sensitive information to NQA. Sadly, the doxed person is the one who sent an image of their own inbox to NQA and was immediately betrayed. I feel so bad for them and I support them entirely.
@@GoobertownHobbies You watched Arch video at all? To my understanding he mentioned you send NQA guys contact, not sensitive info, so calling his video slanderous is very dishonest. Also I am still starting to decipher what NQA meant by saying you "baited her".
@@GoobertownHobbies But that person came to you for help. It is true that we dont know what you told him. But I have huge doubts that he would send NQA the NDA without your input. And if the person i come to looking for help tells me: "send this person proof", i would do it without thinking too much about it, because by me coming for help to that person i have already shown that i trust his judgement.
I think far too much information has been shared already, thats why i am not asking you to show what you told said person that resulted i him sending the NDA but if it is truly without your input, you can proof your innocence that way.
Lets just hope that this generates far too much social backlash for GW to go against that person legally.

That part where you are looking over your shoulder at the cat, who is deciding whether to jump back onto the table you just moved them from is fantastic! Made me giggle for sure. Great video. Very interesting.
I watch you in the middle of the night Pacific Standard time (or daylight time depending on the time of year) because I use you as background noise while I am on the night shift in between my phone calls. I pound work emails and have you painting in the background to help keep me awake.
