DMRAILROAD759 that part always confused me because by the time Marty goes back (1955) he had already divorced Jane Wyman and had been married to Nancy for 3 years
I wonder if any '80s kids ever knew that Reagan used to be an actor. That era was right in between the early 60s, when Reagan's acting career ended, and the 2000s, when the internet became mainstream. Then again... pretty sure every up-to-date book on U.S. presidents will mention Reagan as a former actor :)
@@ellisholden2546 not far off its keep America great although I prefer yours even if greater isn't a word it means making it better not keeping it the same even if the low taxes are amazing.
It seems like a shame that everyone associates Shirley Temple with her child acting days (or at least that's how it's seemed my whole life) because I ran across "The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer" one day by accident and even though I'm only 32 I was immediately captivated by it. She turned out to be ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. I thought this was her during the trailer, and it completely solidifies it. I dunno if her looks were the style back then but she's EASILY the most gorgeous film actress I've seen from the 30s-40s.
I actually prefer her acting when she got older. Don’t get me wrong she was good as a child, but I think she did better later on. If you haven’t seen her in ‘The Story of Seabiscuit’, I highly recommend it.
reminds me of Dakota Fanning, though it seems to be intentional on her part, letting Elle take the spotlight while she acts on fewer roles and goes to college.
when I was a kid in the 1960's, I loved little Shirley Temple movies that were then shown on TV, but I came here for the unforgettable miss Moneypenny, the best, the real Moneypenny - Lois Maxwell. She did 14 bond movies and I didn't even know she ever did other movies in Hollywood. Now I do thanks to Internet. RIP Shirley Temple RIP miss Moneypenny/Lois Maxwell Bond movies will never be the same without you.
Its hillarious that Grandpa Reagan and Baby Shirley were less than twenty years apart in age, and close enough in age to believably play love interests.
I remember that I saw an old clip somewhere where IBM employees had to learn a company song where they say: "That's why we are so gay". Back then I didn't know that being gay used to mean something different than just being attracted to the same sex... However, I can still say that I'm really gay now :P
Ronald Reagan was so handsome here and he always had such charisma. I loved him dearly as our president! He was the first President I was able to vote for after turning 18, and I thought he was wonderful and he will always be my favorite president! ❤
Even though this movie was a failure, Shirley Temple actually said she liked it because it actually gave her a chance to act, rather than just sing and dance.
Shirley's voice, accent, and manner of speech is very similar here to Judy Garland's. Perhaps it was the standard Transatlantic West Coast "growing up in Hollywood" voice at the time.
Considering that Judy only got the role of Dorothy because Shirley couldn't play it at that time... they were able to swap actresses with ease back then. Plug and play.
Lois Maxwell, holy crap that's her! I've never seen her in anything but the Bond films. She's so young here. This is like 20 years before she played Moneypenny opposite Connery and Moore as Bond.
I read the title but not the date so I expected toddler Shirley Temple. A bit shocked! Ok, I'm adjusted now. She's very beautiful. And Ronald Reagan? That bottom lip. Those eyes. GAH! XD
I intend on purchasing this. Lord's willing. This us a bug lead role. grown. Temple.abd. I love the clip. Ronald. Reagan was exquisite yes he delivers yes be does!!!!Rhonda. Prater 🌹

Anyone know where I can get this Movie free without downloads? Thanks! I love Mr. Reagan, and I live Shirley Temple, and the very thought of them together is thrilling! :)
Yahia Kole yes that's true :p I also remember that IBM employees in the (I think) 80s had to sing a company Christmas song and in that they also sing: "That's why we're so gay." I think children nowadays won't believe or make the connection that 'Gay,' as you said, used to mean 'happy'. I also didn't know that, until I saw that video years ago, and then I Googled if it meant something else back then.
*Doc:* So who's President of 1985?
*Marty:* *Ronald Reagan*
*Doc:* *Ronald Reagan*... The *Actor*!?
I suppose Jayne wyman is the First Lady!
* she’s gay *
DMRAILROAD759 that part always confused me because by the time Marty goes back (1955) he had already divorced Jane Wyman and had been married to Nancy for 3 years
And who's the first lady? Jerry Lewis?
Missed opportunity
R.I.P. Shirley Temple
R.I.P. Ronald Reagan
"Tell me future boy, who was the President in 1985?"
"Ronald Reagan"
"RONALD REAGAN THE ACTOR!!"

MrKing8050 goes back to 1985:
bystander :THEN TELL ME FUTURE BOY, WHOS THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES
Me:Donald Trump
Bystander: THE ACTOR?!?
S. Quint but donald trump isnt an actor
Bystander: THE ASSHOLE?!?*
HAHA.. back to the future reference.
oh look it's the president
And the Ambassador to Ghana
Good old times when "gay" meant "jolly"!!
Still does. Dictionary....
I was also confused over this word..
Yeah lgbt want to pervert everything
And only girls were"cute, not guys.
Mr. Reagan was so handsome!
Guess what? Reagan's campaign slogan was "Let's make America great again."
Wasn't it "Let's America gay again"
Trump’s 2020 slogan will be “let’s make America Greaterer!”
History really does repeat itself
@@ellisholden2546 not far off its keep America great although I prefer yours even if greater isn't a word it means making it better not keeping it the same even if the low taxes are amazing.
You know who was the first to say "Make America great again?" (More accurately, "make our nation great again").
Jimmy Carter.
The people watching this would’ve never thought that he’d be president and she’d work for his administration.
"...and yet a man whose destiny was strangely woven with her own."

He was 36, she was 19. Such drama!
Scarlett Katherine Rose, not only that, it's not mentioned in this trailer... Ronnie might be her dad. That's the twist that's being alluded to.
i need to look up that movie...such a drama!
At least they made the school setting a college, not a high school

Bond movies will never be the same without you.
And thats just the sort of soul wrenching movie people just won't appreciate (even if they had a soul!)
I think Shirley worked in Reagan's administration as an ambassador.
Reasons why she'll be successful: 1. She's gay.
Today that would actually be accurate
True. LMAO
they freaking mean the other meaning stupid
We are in the 21st century, there is no other meaning any more...sadly.
As a person who has a lesbian cousin, that is utterly untrue my friend.
Depends
Its hillarious that Grandpa Reagan and Baby Shirley were less than twenty years apart in age, and close enough in age to believably play love interests.
I call that pedophillia.
"And why did they link her name to a man she didn't even know?"
Gosh she was beautiful 😮
MrKing Ronald Reagan Was actor and president his life span was 1911-2004
When it said she was gay, I thought it actually meant she was gay XD

I´m from germany so correct me if I´m wrong. But the original meaning of gay was something like "happy", wasn´t it?
No, in that time gay means happy sometimes.

That Reagan guy looks great, he should be the President
So, Who's President in 1985?
Ronald Reagan
RONALD REAGAN!? THE ACTOR!!!!!!!!!!????????????????
A great beauty. 'Pity that she retired completely from films. 'Worked for more independent film makers, now and again, maybe.
Even though this movie was a failure, Shirley Temple actually said she liked it because it actually gave her a chance to act, rather than just sing and dance.
Un salto cuántico, de actor a presidente 😁 Shirley, one star ⭐💫
I hope that there will be actors or actresses in our generation who will be the President, like Mr. Reagan in our fathers or grandfathers generation.
Kanye West.
Good lord. Smh
My favorite movie 🎥 😍 ❤
Reagan considered this his worst movie...worse than Bedtime for Bonzo!
Shucks, I really like this one! And Bedtime for Bonzo :)
