    I appreciate your honesty about the shoes in your videos! People selling a product generally don’t do that. Subscribed.
    Hopefully the durability from the 7 will still be there.

    I’ve worn Altra since the Provisioness 2 way back when. It was more cushioned back then, and I miss that. I have the 7s. They were my gift to myself after I finished my board exams, and I’ve been disappointed. I don’t love the Paradigms, either. Their trail shoes never disappoint, but I can’t find a road shoe that I love. I’ve tried them all. The Via Olympus (1) was legitimately painful around the lateral ankle. The FwdExperience (1) is ok, so I reach for it most often.

    The Provision 5 is my favorite shoe of all time. I hated the Provision 7 greatly until I took it off the road and into the gym and suddenly I found its use case. Looking forward to seeing if the 8 can bring the joy back.

    Have you heard about issues with the high heel material rubbing or bothering Achilles?

      A few people comment on the heel height, but it is uncommon.

    Can you please make a video explaining the fundamental differences between topo and Altra? They seem to have similar philosophies, but I’m not sure what the differences are really, and I don’t have acess to trying on Topo shoes without buying them (and no ability to return)…

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  Год назад +3

      The primary difference between Altra and Topo lies in their heel-to-toe drop. Altra is renowned for its zero-drop design and a wider toe box. Topo shares a similar concept by adopting the wider toe box but opts for a slightly elevated heel, typically with a 5mm heel-to-toe drop in most of their shoes. This has prompted Altra to introduce the AltraFWD line, aimed at reclaiming market share from Topo. We have tried to work with Topo in the past but nothing has been worked out thus far. Thank you!

    Hey guys, do you know any Brooks models that fit like the Altra provision 8? The adrenaline 23 wide was close but way too much drop for me with the 10ishmm.

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  11 дней назад +1

      The Brooks Hyperion GTS 2 has a slightly lower drop with a 8mm heel to toe drop and is even s lighter shoe than the Adrenaline. However, that shoe does not come in a wide. Altra has a new mid cushion shoe that has a 4mm drop called the Altra Experience Form that fits similar to the Provision 8.

    Damn. I have narrow feet and loved the 7. Racked 100 miles on it so far. Bummed that they made it wider as it probably will be too wide for me 😞
    Other thing I wish they would fix is the whacky laces. They are just way too complicated and annoying to deal with.

    as allways, great review.
    If I supinate, not to much, but have high arches. Would this be a good choice or the Torin, Paradigm?.
    Had a Kayano pair, some 5 years ago, but think they did not work for supination (pronation I guess they do).

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  6 месяцев назад +1

      We would recommend the Paradigm. It has better lateral support than the Provision and has a little extra cushion. The newest Kayano is better for supination because of its 4D Guidance System. The 4D Guidance System is a less intrusive support system that only supports you when needed. It will feel like a neutral shoe if you don't overpronate and put extra weight on the post. Therefore, the Kayano won't push your foot to the outside like the older versions.

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  Год назад +1

      It is going to feel more like the Paradigm 7 midsole. Since Altra has updated its Ego Max midsole it's plush yet firm enough to provide ample stability and longevity.

      Are you saying the regular width Paradigm 7 is wider than Provision 7? How is the width of both Paradigm 7 and Provision 7 compared to Torin 7 and Lone Peak 6?

  • @AnotherReviewer
    @AnotherReviewer 11 месяцев назад

    The Provision 7 last was narrower right under the arch compared to the Provision 5, and the medial guiderail was much less supportive than the Provision 5. Have these been addressed in the Provision 8? I am especially curious about the last, as it felt that my arch was hanging in thin air on the 7.

    Why bother recommending zero-drop shoes? I have plantar fasciitis, and I'm receiving conflicting advice. Some suggest that Hoka is the best, while others claim it's the worst. Similarly, some endorse Altra zero-drop as the best option, while others say it's the worst. I'm hesitant to spend $200 on a pair of shoes that might end up in the trash.

      Zero drop fixed my shin splints. Unfortunately, everyone's physiology is different and you're gonna have to chance spending money that might go to waste.

      With a high drop shoe, it is easier to heel strike, with a lower drop shoe it is easier to land more on the front.

    • @Carlosediaz543
      @Carlosediaz543 Год назад +2

      it depends on your foot: For example if your foot is very flexible and stable and gets irritated when the foot is in a stiff shoes then i would go with a zero or lower drop that more flexible. But if your plantar is more due to the fact that the foot is really sore and need support i would probabnly go with a stiff shoes like Bondi, Clifton or the fresh foam more v4.
      If you wanted to test both the via Olympus is zero drop with a rocker and stiff with a wide toe box. I would recomended going to a store and getting fitted.

    what is the best altra shoe for high arches?

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  7 месяцев назад

      Depending on the brand, there are a lot of shoes that we recommend. We recommend having more support for high arches. Some popular support options include the Altra Paradigm, Hoka Gaviota, Brooks Adrenaline GTS, New Balance 860, and Asics Kayano. These are the favorite support shoes from some of the most popular brands.

    • @Carlosediaz543
      @Carlosediaz543 Год назад

      the torin is really really soft and more flexible, if you really need the support i would get a provision. Especially in a zero drop. Its more important to get that support.

    this is getting very slick yes nice alright but my old made in china hokas unexpectly(zzz) hurt me twice in very lame ways in very lame flatish grass rolls.
    so absolutely no to inward stability shoes even altras.
    never liked discontinued instinct for continuing this into 8th. kinda disgraceful but i'm hoping it will return in some form. it better returns. i don't even know why who invented the "stab" term. absolutely idiotic there's no way any human being's ankle imo can sprain(bruise) inward.
    don't know what they are doing with torins btw. switching it up in the combos? vanish 2 better tone down the toe spring/vamp/rise and swallowtails whatever it is. let the normies eat up the fwd (not that it isn't still altraesque)
    ah yes finishing up the vid, yes this kinda replaces torin somewhat as torin moved up
