I just hit the 1900 mile stone in my first pair of lone peak 7. They are the most comfortable hiking shoes that I have ever owned. They have been glued a little bit but never had a failure that was not fixable. I bought two more pair and are looking forward to getting the joy of wearing them..
The one thing Altra needs to do for testing is test the road shoe fabric on dirt roads. I run on dirt and sand bike paths in their Torins and the fabric on the 7’s has dried out on both my pairs from the dust on the trail and became brittle and now is tearing. The fabric on the Rivera 3 and FWD seems to be way more durable.
This was an awesome video. Really gets me pumped for some Altra shoes coming up. I use them in my rotation here and there. This definitely gave us some insight on some of the quality control issues that have happened over the last couple of years.And yes please give us some chill color options for the Escalante racer !!! My favorite Altra shoe to just wear all the time

The issue I've had with other brands with 8mm plus drop boiled down to the combination of the incline and the aggressive rocker bottom with my forefoot (almost toe) landing & high arch foot, because that combo propelled my stride too much thus causing me some knee issues, So ALTRA with the zero drop & the flexible toe box fixed that problem for me & made my running pain free experience. I'm open to the 4mm idea & down to it, as long as it retains the main ALTRA properties that make the brand great. Awesome Interview guys 🔥🔥 Thanks for bringing Brian Beckstead to your channel.
u don't need to be "open" or not to anything. it's not a "u can feel it" "u can't feel it" debate. it's a lot more complicated than that and if u don't want to think about it i can just tell you that the most ironic thing is that gatekeeping 'some cushion" is what keeps altra alive more so than zero drop. because and this is really boring but "the industry" (and/or/incl) "shill scene" does call minimalist shoes "zero drop".
escrcr renamed to esc4 or both coming out? and what about the instinct remake? lp8 looks to be same quality as lp7 not that that isn't exactly of same era as tor7 par7 sup6, duh. tp5 is solid. especially wild color swatches but solid too. tor8 and prov8 also leaked. so prolly q3 24` and par8 maybe q1 25
Another great interview. Excellent to hear the story of Altra from one of the founders. I'm somewhat disappointed that their new marketing language didn't follow the " dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge" mantra. While it would've maintained the alliteration approach, it may have lacked the product experience translation they were seeking.
?flow should replace fwd and fast. maybe they wanna keep the prestige. or just call race shoes flow+? lmfao. i'd still just personally erase the previously none existing border, as there never was a race category to begin with, so "pros" to altra diehards are basically normies. which of them even ever used the first gen? and if altering the paradigm or becoming a staple exemplar is still on the table, i'd like the paradigm carbon more than the torin tbo. or paradigm tempo at least. better yet instinct tempo. u know like with at least "egopro" or "better"
If there was an option for an "insole drop" with 3-4mm anyone could use all altra zero drop shoes with insole drop. For me the more important characteristics of Altra are the footshape, both the toebox space and the wide midfoot along with the shoe flexibility. Low (4-5mm to zero drop) are also good but I prefer a 4mm drop with footshape than a zero drop but snug, narrow width. Besides that I am not sure if I understood about the midsole tech comparing to prices but anyway the Altra midsoles have to be improved (weight and energy return), havent tried the vanish series but the rest looked a lot with the old Hoka ones that this year started to change. I love that Altra makes shoes that actually fit the human foot in the proper way, similar to what the barefoot shoe industry is doing. All other running shoes squeeze the toes together. Pretty sure in several hundred years people will look at our shoes and think how weird and dumb they are. Our shoes are literally a lesser version of Chineese foot binding, which creates issues like bunions. That said I just wish Altra shoes performed better.
i love how poeple ikeep saying it's "barefoot" industry, like what does that even mean lol. surely doesn't mean anything to me because as an allrider circa 199x I don't think a thin shoe works for me for obviously a kids bike or a fr bike that is naturally using flat pedal not stupid ass normie cleats or was the term "clip on" as it were still. locks? whatever. same as i would NEVER go back to a hardtail or rigid it's just out of the question circa forever ago.+ the ironic thing about the xc dudebros clamering over "climbing efficiency/superiority" like how do you climb on a shoe with cleats better than a shoe without cleats lol. and btw the realization (again) that they were using purple Teva's in WTTE 2012 instead of something like lems trailhead with that sort of seethroughesque rubber outsole that can climb way better than platform pin specific "mtb pro" sole design, in fact without checking i bet they made the model FOR mtb or at least partly, or at the very least some users adopt it as such

I love Altra. Despite some quality flaws, overall the brand is moving in a good direction.
