- [Complex] How to fold my origami portrait of my Indian friend, Dr. Manashita Borah, who to me is an inspirational superstar scientist! She is an electrical engineering professor at Tezpur University in India and she is a Fulbright fellow who was conducting research at UC Berkeley developing technology that she discovered that can ultimately make more efficient rechargeable car batteries. The title of her 1-year Fulbright research project was: "Smart Storage for Green Energy Infrastructure: A Physics-Informed Machine Learning Integrated Fractional Order Dynamical Framework." In other words, she's VERY smart! 😄
I personally know her from salsa dancing while she was living in Berkeley during her 1-year Fulbright fellowship, and we became good friends. I first started trying to make her portrait near the end of August 2023. Since then, over dozens of tries, I've refined and somewhat guidelined the folding sequence, but I admit, it still doesn't look very much like her. However, if you just think of it as an origami Indian face, well then I think I did a pretty good job, especially considering it's from one square of paper with color-changed hair, eyes, mouth and dot. I'm sure this model can be altered to potentially look like a lot of different people, including non-Indians, since it's quite easy to hide the dot (or never fold it in the first place).

I'm so glad I checked out this channel again. I remember watching all of your videos and me and my best friend making all the flickers and ninja origami we could. ichi ni san shi lets go was our favorite thing to say. you made my 4th grade year, and i fell in love with origami and creating. I now make puppets and use my creativity to help me when i volunteer to teach kids taekwondo. I love you Jeremy, im glad to see you still make videos, and i hope to start making more origami soon!
