I dont speak for everyone but I just like watching the work you do Jake. Whether it’s full removals or just pruning it’s fun to see this type of work and watch you guys run the saw and to learn about the trees. 👍🏻
I watch pruning videos just as much as removals. It's all interesting specially since you explain stuff so well. Keep all the videos coming.
Right - But do you watch removal videos just as much as pruning videos?
@@1530786 I have 4 tree channels I watch. Guilty of Treason. Game of Trees August Hunicke and Veteran Tree Service. I watch all of their content no matter what it is.
As someone who owns alot of trees I really like the info on the pruning videos it helps me see potential problems before they are problems. I'm not skilled enough to do what you do but the info is still valuable and helpful. I've learned so much about tree work from your channel if you haven't already saved my life the knowledge you shared at some point will.
It's great to see other aspects of tree work besides just removals. Especially for anyone watching who may be interested in a career in the tree care industry. Some arborists may do a little bit of everything, and some may opt to specialize in a particular niche. Good stuff!
Jacob, dont worry man, these videos are educational, and I love it. I got a big day of pruning coming up, so thanks!
Love the pruning vids, good to see all sides of the profession
Good video Jake! Knowing how to prune correctly takes time and watching someone who knows what they’re doing is the best way to learn.
Woodlouse (isopods at 9:00) don't eat living wood at all, only the rotting stuff and leaf litter. I would rule them out as a cause for the failure
I came here to educate the same thing. You’ll only run into isopods where rot/wet wood resides! Isopods are a biological gift, helping turn brush and decay into earth once again.
I thought the same thing, "pill bugs" take advantage of decay but they aren't the cause of it
it just show with the knowledge. if you are in doubt, just say it, and do research on it.
My one piece of advice is don't apologize. We enjoy your videos. This video was very informative. I also really enjoy seeing trees being preserved and how you help to improve the health of the trees.
The truck wrap looks amazing! Love the channel! Stay safe!! 😁👍🏻🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀👍🏻
Hey Jake, I did some tree work with my grandfather as a teen and it's been quite some time, love these videos, recently had to remove two moderate sized trees off our property and used a lot of tips from your videos, really helped refresh my memory,
No problem watching that, very interesting thanks for sharing.
Honestly any video you put out is worth watching. I'm an amateur tree guy and I love getting tips and tricks from the pros. Keep up the good work Jake. Totally dig the content
The wrap on your truck is really first rate!
That tree would be perfect to build a really cool, first class tree house in! Really enjoy all the videos of tree work, not just the top and drop per se. Lot's of interesting aspects to all of the work you do in an average day!
I was thinking I would like to see a video about pruning. The do’s and don’ts of pruning! What to watch for, how to minimize damage to a tree while trying to keep it as healthy as possible.
Great vid, Jake! Would actually like to see more videos of this type. Keep inspiring the next gen of arborists!
Great video dude, I enjoy watching other aspects of tree work that isn't just removal! this was really informational too like always. I work in the landscaping industry and have a massive respect for arborist!
I like to watch pruning videos. They take a lot more knowledge to not mess up the tree.
Enjoyed the video! As a guy with a couple sizable maples that need some love it’s cool to learn a bit on what to take and what to leave.
more pruning videos please Jake, really interesting to see what techniques you use when pruning!
Just made my first order to sappy supplies! Can’t wait to get my equipment! Very stand up dude! Stay humble and keep growing yourself brother! Stay safe!
It's always nice to see preservation. Big crashes are fun but beautification is nice too.
“It’s what we’re doing this week”….matter of fact and to the point. I respect the heck out of that statement.
I like to watch the pruning, love the before and after pictures
my dad was a faller for Weyerhaeuser north of Portland, I like watching most anything your doing in the trees. I miss those trees as I'm stuck in Saint Louis.
I really liked this video! Seeing that huge convoluted maple was really interesting. Just watching trees being chopped down can get rather boring. 🇨🇦
some really big trees, people forget how long it takes for them to get that big!
so often they are what makes a property unique and special. the healthier
the stronger, the safer the trees! great job doing the triming.
Love seeing actual good tree care from your co climber
I learned something new every time I watch you so learning how to prune it’s just as important as learning how to take it down
It was very interesting to see how to extend the life of trees on their way out. I find your content very informative!👍
I love the pruning vids! I'm learning the industry and everyone's work style is good to learn as well as learning what's healthiest for each species! Thanks for all you do for the new guys out there, might not have ended up in this industry if it wasn't for folks like you and august h. !
Pruning is interesting, at least to me. The before & after comparisons help. Thanks.
Good video ...these things have to be done ..so good to let people know what makes the tree healthier !
Love the wrap!
Really appreciate the sharing of knowledge Jake. Especially since I care for many of the same species in the same area. I’ve got an enormous Elm I’m taking care of. I’d love to see a pruning video on one should the opportunity ever arise.
I appreciate the pruning videos!!
The wrap looks great!
Love seeing a pruning video! Loved seeing those bugs in the tree as well. That's good quality nature, right there. Feed for the birds.
Jake your the man, motivating me to start my own channel. Passion for sure be safe buddy.
I enjoy the pruning videos, a lot of strategy used in order to be safe. Thanks for sharing!
I like the pruning videos. It’s good information on how to preserve a tree. I’m not a big fan of removing trees, unless they’re dangerous.
For me it's dangerous or cottonwoods lol. I hate cottonwoods. I would love to get a mini maple grove going in my yard to replace the cottons I've had taken down.
Love pruning videos. Would watch more of them when you do them. Especially cabling. Would love to see your technique.💪
That was one of my favorite videos of yours Jake. Going over the thought process of each unique specimen and its care is really stimulating for the viewer. I know that you risk trolls and armchair experts picking apart the details; but let me tell you, we appreciate these a great deal. This is the kind of stuff that we would pay per view.
You and Kevin did a fantastic job of pruning the Maples, and Firs Jake, cheers for the swish as reel...
Felling is, of course, the cream.. but pruning is a dance.
Truly enjoy both
As a homeowner that has 5 maples, puts in some perspective on what goes on up in the canopy.
I really liked this video. Takes so much more skill to prune properly, than just cutting down all those pines
I love your work Jake!
Do you have any recommendations for a "starter pack" to buy to get into climbing?
I enjoyed watching this very educational
Interesting to see the different pruning processes. Would have liked to know more about the cabling process. What types of cables are used in what situations. etc.
12:28 I've got a maple in my backyard that had a dead branch that was going through another branch. I took it out, and unbelievably, the hole had completely closed. Its absolutely incredible what trees are capable of.
I love watching some good pruning videos
Great work 😊
nice work all
Keep the pruning content coming man. Log flops get boring after a while, and it’s not something most arborists are doing on the daily. I personally like seeing the climbing footage too, showing how you get out on tricky limbs etc
9:15ish the beasties you see are what we in Scotland call “slaters”. I think there also called wood louse, and they feed on dead/decaying wood
16:44 This saw machine is a powerhouse. It effortlessly handles tough materials with precision
Another episode of "guilty of randy" just what I needed
I'd love more videos of these pruning jobs. I understand people want to see big falling jobs and cool climbing videos but for people in the industry these videos are more interesting!
Pruning is magnificent. I love pruning. Might not be exciting, but done well, it makes healthy trees more healthy.
Nice work
Nice job guys
I enjoyed the pruning video.
I watch your videos because I love your style of content. I subscribed in the 41k range in the Eastside days. I like how informative and descriptive you are. Sometimes I turn my phone off and listen to you like a podcast. 🙂
great vid as usual Jake. any tree work you do is interesting to me, be it pruning, cabling, removal, etc. would l;ike to see how dabling a tree is done
I like the pruning videos, you guys have way different trees in the USA and sometimes I run into a tree that is not Aussie native stuff - from Europe or US and watching this will help me in the future at some point I’m sure.
thanks man
Great video. It is important to see everything you do, not just the "crash-bang's". Also say hello to Kevin. Nice work an a beautiful specimen Jake.
Haha I love that he filmed the descent but not his srt ascent 😂
Finally a pruning video !!
I for one am always looking for pruning videos. I would love to see more. They can be super interesting when it comes to rope work and decision making too.
I am a big fan and a customer of Sappy Supplies. I always look on your site first when I need something. By the way, your ratchet scrench is awesome on a full wrap saw.
The truck decals looks great 👍
Thanks 👍
Interesting to see this part of the job, too.
Any work is good work.
Jake,
You are both Arborist, This just as fascinating as , maybe more so, than removing trees .
What you do is teaching us what a true Arborist does, saving trees for future generations
I live here in the Bellingham/Ferndale area and have seen pictures of the giant trees which were totally wiped out 100 plus years ago.
If only they had the wisdom to create heritage areas, but they didn', except in small areas like the Berthusan property.
I really hate to see any old trees cut down, it hurts me in my heart.
Not boring at all!
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Damn that one fir is a gnarly tree!!!
Honestly, I really enjoy pruning! Would love to see more of it
I actually really like pruning videos, it’s interesting too see other guys decision making on what they keep or not. Removals are cool too watch but, the brain works a different way, you just have to figure how to cut ALL the branches
Those mossy logs 😍
It brings a tear to my eye every time I think of Jed. 😢 RIP man. I still love you. This is Jed: ruclips.net/video/v4NNNZjMcV0/видео.htmlsi=WuDsAPn3ViCXR5ch
With you there. It’s good that Jake mentions him from time to time, as that shows subconsciously Jed is keeping him safe.
Who is Jed

I like watching pruning trees also - so u make the videos and I'll watch them 😅
RIP Jed.
Pruning videos aren’t any less interesting than topping/felling jobs. All very cool stuff 🤙🏼
Nice!
I've been doing boring IT work for the last 30 years...all of your tree jobs and videos are exciting to me.
Really enjoyed this video. I think we would all be interested to see what you think is cool. I’d just trust your gut and don’t worry too much what we think.
Nice job of helping a couple gnarly old ones stand a shot at another couple years
What?! I thought this was going to be a Guilty of Randy episode! 🤣
I‘ve never seen a pruning job with a 500. l like it 👌🏻
Enjoyed the shorter format. Thanks!
I am just filling my chains, thanks for the timing now I have something to listen to/watch
Update:
I got distracted and slipped, now I have a deep cut in my finger.
Conclusion:
Don’t watch videos while filing a chain
I am pretty good at filing chains
My finger doesn’t like the fact that I’m pretty good at filing chains
If ya film it bro il watch it. Prunings good.cheers
RIP Jed 😇
Thanks for the video Jake! I would actually prefer you to include more pruning videos on your channel. Thanks again.
Wrap looks thorough bruh 🔥🔥🤌🏾✊🏾 i work from a wrapped van and have to admit, the amount of neck turns and compliments and meet and greets. You weren’t wrong pulling the trigger on that mission. Like you said before and I’ll reiterate, it sells itself and pays itself off just by being parked at the right place at the right time. Not even having to pitch a sale or anything . Keep on keepin on buddy longtime follower and fellow green climber from Pa right near Shriner 💪🏾🙏🏽 and that’s how learned to climb, chasing dead wood in the suburbs ahahaha. So me and plenty of others are Aokay with the prune vlogs
I think it makes the video more interesting when it’s more informative about the tree. I also feel like I learn something instead of wasting time on RUclips😂
I'm no arborist, but I work in landscaping. Last summer, I learned a ton about pruning trees. Mostly just stuff that could be reached from the top of a folding ladder, anything bigger than that would go to my employer's actual tree division. Though I did get to dabble just a bit in climbing some trees.
So last year I spent pretty much my entire summer pruning trees. On the other hand, I can think of like three or four small trees that I removed. I much prefer doing pruning jobs rather than removals.
All that to say, I'll keep watching pruning videos as long as you keep putting them out!
🇲🇾keep up with your posts
Lotta wildfires in Seattle? I love trimming videos, I base my company on tree preservation
Pruning might not be as exciting as taking down an entire tree but the result is as if not more satisfying! That giant tree looks so much healthier when you're done!
Saying goodbye to your bucket "goodbye my old friends" 😂😂
