I saw you used 5w oil. I have a similar marzocchi and i couldn't find any 7,5w so i mixed some 10w and 5w in same quantities and worked realy well.i dont have any problem so far!
I took an air assist topcap from a 55 tst 2 and added a little oil to take up volume and curve the spring rate. Then, took the springs out ot the 888VF and had an air fork with a weight reduction. you need to play a little to get the spring progression right and keep the coil springs so when you clean the lowers and change oil you have the resistance to tighten the bolts against.
thank you for the video upload! Supposedly, I own a second hand 888 2007 rcv, but the tops look different, I have air valves on top, with caps which you remove first to access the schrader valves). I wonder if I have a misidentified the model. I came upon this when searching for a cap to cover the sticking out part on the compression(right) leg.
If I had 888s I would change oil myself following this tutorial. What a pity I can't find any tutorial for travis. I am afraid to take it apart :D Great video
hey mate, the 10w oil did the job thanks for the info :] You wouldn't know were i could find some spare lock top caps ( first bolts you remove to get into the fork ) as I'm in need of some new ones, thanks again
@frankster262 I have not been able to test it properly due to the winter season. Bike park opens at the end of April and I will tell you after. All I can say for now, rebound is pretty fast, so the compression. Will see how this translates to the track.
differentiates found to change from 7.5 W to 5? I did my suspension maintenance 10w oil but I liked the result in my city is very difficult to find oil of 7.5 then you should use w oil 5 could please tell me how it went with this oil?
@frankster262 After 4 visits at local bike park, the conclusion is... 230ml 5w oil in compression leg makes fork much more responsive. Feels a lot smoother over roots, rocks and brake bumps. Rebound in too fast with 5w oil. Range of adjustment knob is shifted too much toward the faster settings - I hope you know what I mean. I will change the oil in rebound leg to 230ml of 7,5w and it will be fine.
hello, I wonder if I can use oil in suspension 2.5w, 5w'm using, but I think she's still a little hard, I wanted it more comfortable, there are cons to using 2.5w, nice video.
My suspension is the same model, but it's "shooting" (in Brazil we call it that, but I don't know if that's how it's called), when the suspension is raised, there's an explosion, someone could me ?
@jennylover456 You should try to find some manuals for your forks. All forks need some kind of lubricant. Only the very basic forks have grease instead of proper fork oil.
Excellent video could you please advice me is it the same procedure on my Marcocchi Bomber FR-Z1 forks these are about 11 years old but haven't been hammered I'm mid 50s they've on my Claud Butler Karve ( CBR ) that I'm refurbishing She's gonna look Kool once finished....Thanks in advance for your answer kind regards...;-))))
I changed the oil on mine and replaced the broken seals with RWC (Enduro) seals, everything went smoothly, poured the quantity of oil Marzocchi recomends for this fork on each leg. apparently everything was ok, once installed on the bike however, oil leaks out between the new seal and the black bottle.... What can it possibly be?? Right leg does not do this...
Could you do a video for a Marzocchi Bomber? Mine seems to be leaking oil, i think it's the orings but it'll need a oil change anyway so could you do a demonstration video? Thanks
The little rebound knob (the black one in the vid) on the bottom of my fork is stuck, you can only twist it about 3 mm to both directions and it doesn't feel like it changes the rebound AT ALL... any help here ?
Is it normal if I have only one spring in my fork? (right fork tube has air valve compression + spring and left fork tube has air valve compression + no spring)
hey mate, i have the same forks but they seem a little too soft for my style of riding, is there anyway to stiffen them up a little or would i need to replace to springs? thanks.
hi guys ! can someone tell me ,that which oil should i buy in my 888 RV? now i use it with 5w but the slowest rebound hits bigger than Tyson, so need to change it, is the 7.5 w enough good or the 10w? dont know which type was into it before!
3:05 grabbing on the other side of the legs when there is no axle or stanchions+crowns in it, and forcing a screw out... straight way to brake the leg at the "bridge"
I still ride that marzocchi, so thanks for that! ;)
Hey , I can to use rock shox oil or not ?
very clear video man !! nicely done :D
thx for uploading this !!!

Hey , I can to use a rock show oil for my MARZOCCHI 888 rcv or to use Rsp oil ?
This was helpful. I have an old RCV which is kinda similar & after seeing this I'm gonna change the oil on it.👍
is it the same procedure with the Marzocchi Bomber 66? thanks!
Gutes selbsterklärendes Video! Ich warte noch auf Dichtungen dann geht's hier los
It depends from rider to rider. I use 125 ml oil in each leg and about 2 bars of air pressure.
very nice video...really interesting...
good

Your suspension is not the Marzocchi RCV 2007! This suspension has no air and no higher settings.
If I had 888s I would change oil myself following this tutorial. What a pity I can't find any tutorial for travis. I am afraid to take it apart :D Great video
If it is too hard you must change spring for a softer one. Oil have effect on motion not so much on hardness.

great video thanks, just changed oil & all 4 seals on my 888RV, used 10W oil, feels much better.
Hello, I wanted to ask you after years what specific oil you say was best for you since I am restoring a specialaited Big hit 1 and it uses this fork
@09hollowtech2 You are right. Marzocchi recommends 7,5W oil. I am experimenting with lower 5W.
Thanks for the video, I now know what oil to use and the amount. But the 7,5 comment is confusing, shouldn't it be 7.5?
Hello, what is the length of the springs with marzocchi 888?
I want to wear one soft rock shox boxxer?
differentiates found to change from 7.5 W to 5?
I did my suspension maintenance 10w oil but I liked the result in my city is very difficult to find oil of 7.5 then you should use w oil 5

Internals are same in 2008 66 RCV, so service is made just like this. I just serviced my own 66 rcv.

how much fluid goes into the legs??? I can't see on the video. Great informative video by the way :-)
Odličen video! Kako se ta vilica obnaša v primerjavi z Boxxer-jem? Cena zdaj vs. Boxxer ali morda celo Fox?
Ciao Ascolta sono una Corcella Marzocchi 888 potrebbe montare un copertone 26 X 300
My suspension is the same model, but it's "shooting" (in Brazil we call it that, but I don't know if that's how it's called), when the suspension is raised, there's an explosion, someone could me ?
Do you have to do anything to the rebound setting when disassemble. Like turn it all away in or out
What year are these forks? I'm looking for new seals, can you help?
Cheers
is it the same on a rc2x? i wanna buy a old scott gambler and it got that on it
Does this fork have air pressure adjustment? And if so where is it located on each side?
@jennylover456 You should try to find some manuals for your forks. All forks need some kind of lubricant. Only the very basic forks have grease instead of proper fork oil.

What size spanner at the bottom of the lowers please? I'm doing a stancions swap
Thankyou for this video
i have a question : could you also upload a video of changing the fork oil of the Marzocchi 888 VF2 ??
ride on bro !!
und wie macht man das ganze wenn die Gabel auf beiden Seiten eine Luftkammer enthält ?
Good, i use 2.5w to Marzocchi 888 RC3 ti, strongest spring. My weight about 77 kg
Right leg does not do this...
is it 230ML oil/forkleg? it looks like more in the video =)

Hello, I have a question.
Can you tell me why i´m losing oil by the rebound? there are seals? If yes, can you tell me where i'm buying?
Thank you
Can I use regular car oil?
minha marzochi desse msm modelo está com barulho de retorno "tiro" como faço pra tirar esse barulho ? qual óleo que vc usa ??
a minha tbm ta com esse barulho vc conseguiu tira?
Could you do a video for a Marzocchi Bomber? Mine seems to be leaking oil, i think it's the orings but it'll need a oil change anyway so could you do a demonstration video?

You are right. I recommend doing that.
The little rebound knob (the black one in the vid) on the bottom of my fork is stuck, you can only twist it about 3 mm to both directions and it doesn't feel like it changes the rebound AT ALL... any help here ?
You should use recommended fork oil.
yo i've got 66 rcv from 2007
good fork from italy i'm lovin it
I have a stock mongoose nothing racy nothin super special, do i still use fork oil?
what happened to the music? i was jamming
any way you could put one up for the 2006 888 VFs? i'm really stuck with how to adjust the rebound on mine :(
You will probably need a new springs. You could try 10w oil.
Viscosité 5 w or 7.5 for 230 ml?
should my 888s be making a swash sound when it compresses? like the oil is moving around? is that okay?
@LOGonover Just visit marzocchi's tech area website. Look under tuning tips and you will find the information you need.
I run an '03 Super T Pro. Is this similar in steps? I can't find any info that has helped me otherwise.
Is it normal if I have only one spring in my fork? (right fork tube has air valve compression + spring and left fork tube has air valve compression + no spring)
Hello, What is the minimum amount of oil that can put on each leg, on 888 RCV, tanks
hey mate, i have the same forks but they seem a little too soft for my style of riding, is there anyway to stiffen them up a little or would i need to replace to springs? thanks.
How ml oil you added to lowers legs??
what is the ideal air pressure on each leg?
hey im kinda new to this so... how do you know when you should change fork oil? is there any way to tell without taking the fork apart?
is it OK if the black part on the fork turns chrome? like on the outside
not really it means its wearing and usually bad bushes or non serviced
a1147538. these dont use an air spring, they are coil sprung
The Marzocchi 66 RCV should work similar, right?
Thanks
Can you mate 2012 888 RC3 Ti lowers to 2009 888 RC uppers???
how to make for marzocchi 888 rcv2x va oil change and put air in?
You should always replace the axle before pulling the lowers off the uppers.
Could I use 10w semi synthetic
car oil for forks?
for marzocchi 7.5 only
What about lubrication oil? can I use 15WT?
Marzocchi recommends 7,5w
where can i find oil change video for agyle rc fork?
Hi! Do you know how to fix scratches on the fork tub? Thanx!
can i only change the oil by removing the top caps and let the oil out?
u can, if tilting the whole bike over isnt a problem for you. but if the seals are bad then i would take the fork out for a little easier working.
hi guys ! can someone tell me ,that which oil should i buy in my 888 RV? now i use it with 5w but the slowest rebound hits bigger than Tyson, so need to change it, is the 7.5 w enough good or the 10w? dont know which type was into it before!
is it like a junior t
is it really safe to use a direct mount stem like that?
Oh yeah i see, looked at it from a diffrent angle..
great vid
do you recomend enduro seals?
You are right.
Hello I am trying to remove the headset do you know how I can do it (thanks in advance and sorry for my bad English)
How wide is this glass?
3:05 grabbing on the other side of the legs when there is no axle or stanchions+crowns in it, and forcing a screw out... straight way to brake the leg at the "bridge"
my suspension is marzocchi 66 rcv 2007
thank you!
nice vid. i have te same fork and same model. but i can only adjust rebound and not compression, anyone know why?
theblister88 haha I'm 5 years late, ever figure it out? ive the same question.
i had the same fork and bike i used 10w oil the adjust range was more effective
I was using 10W in my 888RV and for me is working too slow. I'll back to 7,5W
thanks!
PERFECT THANKS
nice bike
kona
Bad -ass fork :D !
also lookied like your supposed to put 240ml in
also handy to keep the axle in, some poeple crack the lower by bending it
it may have been a 66 i can't remember.
@Jackdownhilldobson change oil viscosity
you shouldnt take seals out inless you have new ones to put in
marzocchi 888 vf
Where do you put the air in?
