    Your doing exactly what I plan on doing to my boat and that is replacing and updating my fuse panel on my boat with a more conventional blade style fuse panel, my boat has the old round fuse setup and those are not as cheap compared to the blade style fuse. I so wish i lived down in Georgia or Florida so i could work on boats and also fix them and not have to deal with extreme cold or snow and ice like we get here in Indiana. I am a truck driver but wiring is something that i enjoy doing.

      Cool, yea the cold makes it no fun. I will be finishing up the electrical before much longer and will do another video on the completed project. As you can tell, I moved them all to the inside. Much better and not exposed to the weather as much. I am very happy with how it is turning out.

    When I build go karts I try to run my electrical inside the frame tubes. What I do is run a piece of stiff wire then pull my wires through. But with my wires I also pull a fishing line along with the wire so in the future I have a pull wire for more wires! Thanks for the videos!

    Instead of connecting your main D/C terminals to the battery you could connect them to the battery selector switch to allow a cleaner battery and a master shutoff closer to the battery. Keep up the good work Mike!

      @CaptainMike1965  Год назад

      Thanks Captain John. I do plan on doing this when I get to setting everything up in that area. This was just to get power on the panel to start work. I will mention your comment in the next QA. Others do need to know that.

    Just wanted to give a small tip. I'm a retired master auto tech that's enjoying your videos. Then you pre drilled to run the screw to hold the schedule 80 up , don't use a screw with a point on it. The movement of the wire could possibly cause the wire to chaff on the pointed tip especially on waves causing movement. Instead run a stainless bolt and nut to secure it just long enough to hold up the pipe. If the bolt is a little longer put a rubber vacuum cap on the end of the bolt. Best of luck.

    • @CaptainMike1965
      @CaptainMike1965  7 месяцев назад +1

      That is a very good point. I have some vaccum cap tips. I will put one over it. Thanks for the comment.

    Mike, I have no criticism only suggestions. Instead of shrink tubing why not try liquid electric tape it gives better seals against moisture and corrosion. When I see channel locks I think of busted knuckles and chewed nuts?..Getting ready for the next loop with you!

    • @CaptainMike1965
      @CaptainMike1965  Год назад

      Slick I will look into it. I haven't ever used it. I keep those in my little personal bag as I call it. Those are the most used tool I have. They are super useable tool for me. Also you probably saw me use them on the battery? I will be switching those to wing nuts as you know in a emergency, you don't have time to look for a tool. The batteries didn't come with them.

    That snake prank was too funny, missed the subscribe sign this time but I'm gonna get it next time! I am really excited to see how you do cabinets and storage. The plus of this old boat is the ability to customize with new things when you pull the old things. Also can't wait to see what you do as far as appliances. It feels like there are so many different ways to go as far as size, how you power them, and where you put them. Great video, keep it up Captain!

    Save yourself some grief later. Get the proper Terminal strips and mount near the Starter battery on some sort of panel plate. One for POS and one for NEG. Then only one wire to each Battery Terminal. Same for the House battery AND DON"T FORGET THE BREAKER within 12 inches of the Battery POS . only wire that are not on the breaker is the Starter motor wire. Same for the sump pump on the House Battery.
