Tanks patrol border with Gaza as Israel announces to withdraw some troops January 1, 2024

Israeli tanks were seen patrolling Erez, at the border with the Gaza Strip, on Monday amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Footage shows troops operating tanks and other armoured vehicles, as well as a destroyed office inside the town’s administrative quarters.
"They want to end any connection to Israel and put the Gazan people in a situation that they have no choice but to fight. This is Hamas' message by coming here: you are not leaving Gaza; you are here to fight,” said one of the military officers while recounting Hamas' attack on October 7.
"The first thing that Hamas did was destroy the very place that was used to improve the lives of the people of Gaza. This gave them work, this gave them medical care, this gave them access to a better life," he claimed.
The Israeli army has announced on Monday that it will withdraw some troops from Gaza to shift to more targeted operations against Hamas and citing the toll months of fighting have taken on the Israeli economy. IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari highlighted, however, that the move did not affect Israel's intention to destroy Hamas, according to media reports.
