I loved the show...with 1 exception. There were so many women who didn't want really short haircuts and the hair stylist would kind of bully them into it...and some didn't like the results. It always seemed to me that there could have been some compromise there. That, or have a wig supply on hand to let the women get an better idea if a short hair cut would suit them before actually cutting their hair.

@@kayregulski6828 I think she was from Texas and liked her 'big hair' I seriously, think that for some folks, it's a cultural thing...her 'big hair' was the equivalent to a guy in that western culture always having a huge belt buckle :)
My sister...her hair style is stuck in the mid /late 1970's. Long blond hair, but puffed up on top with bangs.
She once had it styled to something less complicated, her hair framed her face and it looked beautiful, had movement to it because there wasn't a quarter can of hairspray holding it all there.
And, that style, given she was 54 years old at the time, it actually made her look younger as it didn't 'date the era' of hairstyle from so long ago.
Even back then, it was a style only young adults wore, older women back then did not wear that style.

Sorry but I dissagree, they always put wonderful people in ugly blazers and make them 30 years older. Take Meghan from the beginning for example! she was 20 years old with an outfit a 20 year old with a band would wear specially in that year and put her in an ugly suit that made her look like a complete boring adult with no reason. they take all the things that make those people them into the same outfit over and over again.

Unfortunately, the show was not about helping the girls without a style. It was about teaching rebels how to conform to the societies most stupid norms and how to hide their personality for the reasons that reminds me of highschool popularity contests. It would actually be amazing if for instance they helped a goth become better at dressing while letting her stay a goth.
Also, so many girls were ahead of the time. Their clothes would be fashionable today. I guess the style of some other girls will be fashionable in 15 years or so. I also guess that if you would time travel to the past, let's say eighties, people would see you like those who snitched the girls see this girls in the show.

I remember so many times going to the TV because I was bored and without a book to read and then seeing there is nothing except this on. I would then fume for the rest of the day because they made such a stylish girl look boring. 🤣 What a freak show that was...

I watched this show every week and usually thought the end results were okay, not stunning. I remember that the hair stylist Nick gave EVERYBODY a bob. Shoulder length hair? You got a bob. Wavy hair? You got a bob. Curly hair? He straightened it and then gave you a bob. He cut one black woman's natural hair into a style that can only be described as Bobby Brown from New Edition - a "Gumby" look. I think she even said it looked like Gumby.
I recall that many of the women didn't want to grow up and accept that they couldn't wear the clothes they liked in high school. Turning 30 (or 40 or 80) isn't the worse thing in the world. Wearing clothing that makes you look like Jane from Whatever Happened to Baby Jane ranks pretty high though. Not saying you need to dress like your great-great grandmother, but maybe rethink bows.

    • @lindsaymorrison7519
      @lindsaymorrison7519 3 года назад +3

That does seem a rather extreme comparison given that high heels are inherently temporary and your other examples were not. I'm strong believer in being as comfortable as you can be in your clothing (I think I only own five or six pairs of shoes) and not torturing yourself to fit some impossible standard, but I will wear a high heel on occasion. I'm pretty glad I do know how to walk in them. But it is absolutely obscene that they are the expectation for so many women, especially in media.

I saw girls with such an amazing outfits and senses for style shamed after which they - agreed to be changed. They always ended up in the same boring clothes. While there's a time and a place for some of this, I think some of it is often arrogant and elitist. Some people LIKE a simple style and no make-up. Defining beauty by whether or not one wears make-up sends a message that women have to put on a mask/some fakeness to be beautiful and that's not true. It's nice being able to keep things simple in daily life and then be able to go a bit fancier when the occasion calls for it or when one just plain feels like rather than trying to live up to elitists' arbitrary beauty standards. Brushing/Combing one's hair does have its place. Cleanliness has its place. So does being comfortable. Not everyone's meant to wear heals. They're not even good for one's feet and back. Sensible shoes as one's normal lifestyle can be good.

I would like to see more of Stacy and Clinton --it seems they focused on younger women for most of the time. There are a lot of women, myself included that are stuck in a time warp of layered haircuts and jeans with concert t-shirts and sneakers. Our bodies have changed, we're older and we have no idea how to dress ourselves at this stage of life. While I don't wear dresses or pantsuits often and my messed up feet (messed up from decades of wearing 3-4 inch heals) won't allow me to wear heals very often, I need help with my casual look. A lot of us 60+ women don't want to look like our grandmas but we also can't get away with dressing like we did in college. If someone could design a style just for women in my age group, they'd be billionaires.

Being well dress gives you confidence, it's not about fitting with society or getting attention, when you're well dress people looks AT YOU, not at your clothing.

There was a girl they gave a pixie cut to and she looked amazing. You wouldn’t have known she was the same person. Best transformation on the show.

And now Megan's graphic Ts would be right on point. Sometimes it seemed Clinton should have been a client.

This was the best show, I really wish they would bring it back with Stacy and Clinton! I'm pretty sure this show is where I first started realizing my own personal style.

The funny thing is that, even after all the years this show has been off the air, none of the made over styles shown here look dated. This show, and the advice it provided, are timeless.

I hope there is a transcript kept of that phone call somewhere so even if/when it is taken down, there is still the words to read. I feel for Liz. No one but Liz knows her heart and at her age and what she has experienced in her life. One of my biggest pet peeves is someone that says something in anger or under the influence as if that excuses it - no it doesn't - what you say and do, you must own up to it! You are not allowed to claim only the good things about yourself. No, you accept and learn from your mistakes so you don't make those mistakes again, and you celebrate your growth as much as you celebrate the good things about yourself.

I have been watching the reruns and wish I could go through a make over. I am 65 and now attempting to learn to dress like 65 but not like an old lady. I have picked up a lot tips and tricks from the show. I have picked up few ideas but I felt it was geared toward the 30-50 group. I have never had the financial means to do what I would of liked to have done for myself. I was a single mom for a lot of years. I love Stacy and Clinton and wish that the show would come back and they could pick this Grandma.

Learned alot from the show. Namely,.how important good fitting underclothes are. And today, I ignore what I learned and rock a sports bra. Lol.

Sunny crying made me want to cry.
I’m currently struggling to find a style/ways to make myself feel and look good!
I feel like Stacy. Not sure if I just don’t care or I’m still stuck in not caring.

One thing I like about that show is after the makeover is not all the people look the like the way it was on Snog, Marry or Avoid. They helped people find their OWN style.
