- Style by fire, inspirational stylist, fashion consultant, author, magazine editor, and former co-host of What Not To Wear, Stacy London’s trademark “Morticia” gray streak grew in when she was eleven and she has been refusing to hide it ever since. But it isn’t until turning 50 that she is actually having a midlife Renaissance in her Princess dresses and finally feeling a deep comfort in her skin. She is coming into her own having done life her way; not married, without kids and never having had a conventional job. This after a lifetime of eating disorders under fashions unforgiving lens as a Fashion Editor at magazines like Vogue and as a superstar TV host of “What Not To Wear.” “Beauty is about love and contentment,” is Stacy’s new mantra.

Stacey London FOREVVVEERRRR
@Boxah She really has a astounding story to tell. Our styles have changed, especially here in America. However, French women and European women still dress the "classic" way. I have a wardrobe that crosses classic with my personality. Depends on your lifestyle how you dress.
💝💝💝
So she obviously doing drugs and lost her mind. She also basically admits her tv show was mean and conformist.

She’s dating a woman?
Wow. I literally grew up watching What Not to Wear and absolutely adored Stacy. I'm 21 and am in the process of unlearning a lot of things about beauty and my self perception and to see someone I looked up to having done the same and loving the place that she's in kinda makes me feel like I'll be alright.
She is truly amazing, isn't she? Listen to her full story on our podcast :on iTunes bit.ly/WUStyleA, Spotify spoti.fi/2l894E9 or Stitcher bit.ly/2HNthb1
Kourtney Jackson wow i’m 21 too and grew up watching her😻 this is seriously inspiring. Stacy and ICON❤️
Why is she amazing she was very abusive every time she talked to people my family and friends think the show is disgusting . I'm Goth who the fuck does she think she is to say shit to anyone about the way they look
I SWEAR TO GOD if she approached me on the street I'd press charges and call the police. My Goth makeup is part of my religion as well as my attire so shed be facing religious discrimination if she approached me and my Coven and bullying
She's very sick and so is her partner on the show and so many people have told me they can't believe this show wasn't pulled off air for bullying my god how sick
She's just nuts for real omg she's crazy a bully who is fake as can be
janityy woah 😂😂

I absolutely love the fact that she did the whole interview without a drop of makeup and she looks stunning! 👏🏻😬💕
true ! she probably has a super healthy diet 😁
I love that she is comfortable in her own skin and doesn't have to wear 5 lbs. of make up to feel beautiful.
She is such an ICON.

Wow, Stacy has evolved, she is beyond fashion now... She is Fashion...
What Not to wear was about learning what flatters your body style and finding professional clothes that look good on you. All of the clothes she’s wearing look great on her.
S H the comment I was looking for, thank you
Or having two snarky judges throw out all your clothing and putting you in tasteless, generic outfits. Just my opinion tho.
@@youraverageartist1588 You were allowed to not go on the show, though. Going through with it was a choice that every one of those people made.
I miss Stacy!!! She needs to have a youtube channel. I would definitely watch it!
Same 😁👍
Agreed!!!

Zipporah me too ❤️
Same!
Someone should give her a new show about finding personal style ("What TO wear!")
Maybe that could work. She mentioned in the video that she might be a candidate for her show now based on how she dresses. I don't think so. She still looks well put together, while simultaneously being open with fashion. It think it would be cool to have a show that helps people find their personal style. She could even start a RUclips channel and coach people.
That’s a great idea 💡
YES! I would watch the hell out of that
YES. A show where she helps people find their personal style, encourage them to feel free, beautiful, and confidently creative. THAT is the show I want to watch.
That is an amazing idea!
Wow, I wonder if she feels guilty for getting all those ladies to throw away the clothing they loved for something expensive and chic and conformist?
She should.
That's always the part of the show that bothered me.
@@anabhousen7159 me too. I hope it was just for the show and they didn't really do it.
Most of the time they didn’t love the clothing they had. They were hanging onto it to because they legitimately felt that was the best they could do and weren’t looking in the mirror nor believing in the reflection of those who love them. They were allowed to keep items that had special meaning. They did not always buy the most expensive items either but were encouraged to invest in some pieces that would have the most versatility. I think the show was great at the time it existed and I find it amazing that Stacy literally created two whole versions of herself It almost seems like the woman she was on what not to wear (who was dope in her own right) is a completely different woman than she is now, both equally amazing but different. That is a fucking impressive feat.
People find new truths about themselves everyday we are always evolving .
On one hand I wouldn't have had the strength to turn down hosting wntw so I can't blame her for that, but she made most of her money being on a really toxic show. I am relieved she's a much nicer and more confident person now. I'm also glad there's more healthy make over shows these days where they don't try as hard to make the people on it feel terrible before "looking good"
Wow, what a glow up! I always felt she was a bit judgy and harsh on the show. Now she’s like the eclectic aunt I’ve always wanted! Loving this so so much!
Emily I watched a video by another RUclipsr that had Stacy in it and she talked about how the show made her say a lot of that stuff. That she didn’t really believe it. After that video I saw Stacy in such a different light.
@@tinabuirge2120 but she chose to be on the show, and stay on it. So that's pretty shitty on her part. Not sure why you would see her in a different light after that? It's even worse in my opinion. She didn't even believe in what she was saying - she said it because she was getting paid to.
@@TheAtl198 while I agree that if it was her choice to stay on the show that long it would be a bit shitty, you have to remember that a lot of people on tv are stuck in their contracts, we have no idea what her contract was, so we could never know if she stayed that long for the money, or if she was forced to by contract.
@@jackdrawsold4301 That's a fair point. I do agree. Honestly didn't think of that because if I were in a position where I had to do things I morally didn't believe in, I would be out of there, contract or no. I'm a nurse, and last year I broke a contract at a job because I didn't agree with what I was being asked to do. But I understand that not everyone thinks the same way. She might have been afraid that she wouldn't work again if she did that. My wife watched that show and loved it. I was always politely invited to leave the room during it, because I couldn't stand Stacey and wouldn't keep my trap shut about it. 😏
Actually I remember reading somewhere about her experience in What not to wear, that the hosts were mostly not there, but the few times she could interact with them Stacy was the nicest one, and the one that actually tried to give her advice
I like this Stacy London better.

Same person we all are
Better calling it a midlife Renaissance than a midlife crisis. Points for optimism! ✌️🌻
I am so glad to find this video. I loved watching “What Not to Wear”, the clothes were beautiful and did indeed suit the guest’s figures. But my problem with it, as Stacy mentions, was that everybody came out looking the same.
This is a problem a lot of us deal with...we find clothes that suit or figures, “normal” clothes, our friends tell us we look good, but we don’t feel like ourselves. When we see someone like Stacy running around in a princess dress with an elven hairpiece, we get that push of encouragement to wear what makes us feel ourselves.
Thank you, Stacy! (And I looooove your hair streak!)
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
The problem happens if all you have are princess dresses and matching headpieces. It's good to know the rules to blend in, dress appropriatly for work or different occasions, bring out the body's best feature, disguise that tummy or heavy upper body, etc.
Those white pants with the heels looked cute. I'd probably wear those with sneakers...
If you know the rules, you know how best to break them.
@@mffmoniz2948 Also true. Sometimes you need a specific look for a certain situation wherein the people that you have to interact with simply do not have the capacity to accept that it’s ok to wear a Princess dress, and you have to play “normal” for a while because you are hoping for a certain outcome which would not be possible if the Princess dress were worn.
Sigh.
Such is life.

I love this ❤️ I always thought WNTW was so restricting and oppressing on peoples’ personal style and made them all look the same. I’m glad she is talking about that and being more open and encouraging about fashion
Ok this Stacy seems like an amazingly happy and wise person. Also her style here is incredible. That “princess dress” is stunning
I remember watching What Not to Wear with my mom when I was a kid, and feeling sadness and shame when she encouraged me to follow the fashion "rules" Stacy and Clinton set out. I understand now that my mother was trying to protect me in the hopes that fitting in would solve my problems, but really, feeling free with style is what's giving me so much joy now; and I'm super grateful to get to rediscover that expressive side of myself today. It's super healing seeing this side of Stacey, and I'm beyond happy for her and her journey too! She's a powerhouse! ❤️

My mom would always talk about calling them to come “help” me. I was just a little skate punk kid. It’s weird watching this now-she used to make people through away sentimental clothes and that part always hurt to watch.
Yet there really are some basics that count. Ex. If a woman has a "larger" chest (I used to laugh at how they used that expression, you know, larger than what?), there are styles that will be more flattering than others. Fashion is about style, at least I hope it still is, and you know, if a woman is 5" 2' and weighs 165, she will look shorter and heavier if she wears those (God awful) cropped pants with the voluminous legs. Colors matter, too...I look hideous in orange...it's a beautiful color on some people. And so on. I'm slim, have rather narrow hip, but a "larger" chest...I don't want to look top heavy, you know, like a marshmallow on 2 toothpicks. So, I don't wear skinny pants with a big, flutter sleeved, flared out top. There are rules, that is, if you want to wear flattering stuff.
Fool of a Toque omg that’s such a healing moment 😭 life truly is amazing ✨
Rashone I think the idea is where does that idea of flattering come from? What exactly is this one standard that we’re all trying to balance our bodies to? And why that body type? If you genuinely feel good in the choices that you feel are more flattering then that’s awesome ❤️ I think it’s just about questioning, are these choices I’m making my opinion/what would bring me happiness or am I following some rules about what’s “flattering” that I picked up along the way? Then the choice is up to you, but it’s nice to question it and explore your motives a little!
I actually think about her all the time and I’m so happy she’s happy! Can’t believe I just heard the host of WNTW say “no one gets to tell you what is or isn’t beautiful” HELLO!! Love this ❤️

It's amazing how as a kid I would idolize Stacy London and the "bland style," to go to rejecting her because of all these insecurities that had arisen because of shows like that, to then idolizing her again because she put all my fears and ideals into a better light. Full 360. Total glow up. 10/10

Judith/StyleLikeU: A male comment on this issue. When my daughter was in her mid-teens I was in my early 50s. She was looking at my senior year high school yearbook. Her reaction to my photo: "Eww, Dad, that hair! Those glasses! You look so much better now than you did then." And now, Judith, like you here in my 60s, I definitely feel better too. Basically she became the person she was trying to style back in WNTW lol
Karma 👿
Mengmeng Di that’s honestly probably why she put herself into so much. She projected and seen herself in those people- so when she was making comments about them and pushing them, she was really making comments about and pushing herself.
Not really... even with her quirky new style you can still tell there is an aesthetic education behind her new choices. Even if she is more unconventional now those items are still very well selected for her figure and tastes. The women of the show simply looked terrible. It really isn’t the same thing.
@@simonariviera1677 not all of them? Some simply liked other styles and just wore what made them happy, like what Stacy is doing now. They bashed a girl's interest in the lolita style because of how "childish" it looked.
Random Human just because a piece of clothing makes you happy doesn’t mean it looks good on you. Stacy is wearing things that make her happy AND also look fine on her. The women on that show wore clothing only for the fantasy they had in their head, that is why they looked terrible.
What not to wear just had so many awful aspects to it. The fact that coworkers and family nominated the participants, following them around for weeks then showing the tape in public, two elitist catty hosts talking shit behind someone's back like a cut scene from mean girls, throwing a poor person's clothes in the literal trash, giving them credit cards to department stores and erasing all trace of personal style. Truly the worst of the fashion industry. Just a mean spirited freak show.
I hated how they promoted "sexy clothes". They would throw out a whole wardrobe and put people with insecurities or social anxiety into a red cocktail dress and pretend like they did something good for them.
My least favorite part was them taking some of the very few women who felt comfortable without a bunch of makeup on and telling them they looked sooo much better with makeup
Especially the alternative clothing! They ruined personal styles.
But sometimes it was necessary
I disagree about the styling. There are things I didn’t like about the show like the things they did for entertainment purposes like being catty and harsh while myself as a Personal Stylist would never do that. I also quite dislike forcing anyone to wear makeup or cut their hair too short. However, the vast majority of these women did end up having a breakthrough and looked but more important FELT better about themselves. I think that given the time constraints and the knowledge of the women about what they liked, they did a great job. Though the outfits may seem generic, the truth is that style discovery takes time, patience as well as trial and error. As you continue to grow in life and you experience more, see more and travel more, your style will slowly evolve with you. But when you start dressing better, learning what looks good on your body and feeling better about yourself, you are able to see possibility and figure out what is truly you. I think the show experience was the start of their journey.
She seems free now. Free of fashion rules, society’s rules and more importantly, rules that we set on ourselves. I like this Stacy even more.
She’s beautiful! Her grey streak is her brand! I always wished my grey would come in like that!
Gray streaks like that are actually caused by trauma, not age.
I have a family member that chooses to dye her hair, but leaves a thick grey streak in the front. It frames her fave beautifully.
@@TayTay33 … or heredity...wearing a center gray streak that has been carried on for at least 3 generations.....
@@katrinakitty52 That's extremely rare.
T G I have a natural thick white streaks (gray is the general term, but they’re white) that both my sister and mom have in the exact same place, from adolescence. I also have a white streak in front that my dad and grandma also had. Sometimes it’s just genetics! :) although if there are studies that have been done on this, as a huge biology nerd I’d be interested in finding out more, as I love reading scientific research
I’ve always felt that what you wear is supposed to be an expression of you, and that it’s supposed to make you happy. I loved watching What Not to Wear, I loved the advice on colors/shapes that are the most flattering on people, but I often felt sad at the fact that a lot of people’s quirkiness and individuality felt lost by the time they got to the “big reveal” at the end. It never occurred to me that Stacy was suppressing her own individuality in the process. I’m so glad and inspired by the fact that she’s finally decided to be free.
This is exactly what I need to see as I grow. I grew up with WNTW and I loved that show. But she made them fit in, and I feel like shes realizing how to belong to herself now, and preaching that now and I love this

C Mac yassss! I’ve been thinking that during this whole video!!
I know, right.
For some reason I loved what not to wear as a kiddo. As I got older, it started to bum me out. I hated the whole "this is too individual, too unique!" I started to feel bummed on behalf of the people on the show! This is an awesome thing to see :) to see her acknowledge what lots of us were thinking, and show her funky fruity business
Like many, I also grew up watching What Not to Wear and I thought Stacy and Clinton always looked happy but in this, I LOVE how full of life and genuinely excited she is. Wow she’s completely changed her style . She seems much more authentic . I love it! Good for her!

Her gray streak has always been my favorite thing about her! Glad she didn't dye it.
Sur Jeudi trust me hunny, she DYES the rest of her hair black. She’s 50. Most of her hair is gray most likely.
@@BrittKatSlat There is a lot of people in their 50s with little to no grey hair so is it possible she dyes it yes but not necessarily
@@BrittKatSlat Wrong. Not everyone goes gray by 50. You don't know what you are talking about, so no one should trust you, "hunny".
Also, gray streaks are caused by trauma, usually in childhood. She has had hers since she was young and mentioned on a WNTW Q&A that she did not remember when it first showed up, which is probably true. I have two friends with a white/gray streak. One of them drowned but was revived when she was 3 years old. Right after, she had her streak and it remains. She tried to dye it but it does not hold dye. The other one was stabbed as a teen and noticed her streak when she got out of the hospital.

Yes, I agree about learning style ideas about clothes fitting better, and the woman who was advised to get a tailor to make tops fit her correctly. 😊 There were some good ideas given. I think that it's important to incorporate personal style regardless of career, etc.
She dresses the exact same way she told people not to dress on the show lol, it looks good though
She can carry it though...
That's true
Part of it is confidence. Most of the people are WNTW were extremely insecure and their clothes showed it.
Not exactly, most of those cases were really extreme lol. I think she looks good too.
Not really most people on that show wore sloppy stuff that wasn't thought out or pretty. Stuff can be weird but stylish and thought out
I used to watch What Not To Wear when I was probably around 8 or 9 years old, I’m 20 now😳😩 & somehow Stacey looks exactly the same.. she’s always been so beautiful, but I cannot believe she is 50! She honestly hasn’t aged a day!
I need those vans and I am SO happy to see that she realizes how she and the people the show styled were stuffed into a very tiny box that didn’t express anyone’s individuality. And here she is blossoming into someone who expresses herself in a beautiful and genuine, exciting way! It’s infectious to see her excitement and joy!
I loved watching Stacy on WNTW, but seeing her style renaissance is so refreshing! This parallels my recent desire to be more bold and adventurous with my wardrobe aswell. Keep doing your thing, Stacy! 💕
I loved What Not to wear as a kid. I admired Stacy London so much! But at the point I started to start dressing the way I just wanted to dress, I saw What Not to Wear as a box. Don't get me wrong. The people really needed help. Their stylewas usually an extension of sadness of trauma. But I got tired of seeing them turn people into clones of themselves. To see that that wasn't completely her is sad but kind of refreshing. I LOVE her current style. THIS is iconic.
So happy to hear that you love her style evolution! Listen to Stacy's full story on our podcast :on iTunes bit.ly/WUStyleA, Spotify spoti.fi/2l894E9 or Stitcher bit.ly/2HNthb1
I always loved Stacy London. I still love her now. Taught me so much about curating a personal style before it was even trendy. She was always an inspiration to me.
YAS I love the no makeup, I love the freedom of expression, I love the whimsy!

This is just the reason I couldn’t watch “What Not to Wear”.......now THIS IS REAL!! Thank you for this!!!!!!!!
"Find your reflection in the eyes of people who love you"~~~beautiful
Life changing advice: "Step away from the mirror and find your reflecting in the eyes of the people who love you and care about you and want you to succeed."
I'd love to watch her do videos like this more often, especially now that I'm older. This is such a refreshing look at aging, fashion, and beauty. This is the voice/perspective I really want to hear.
lol--sweating and remembering nothing I can completely relate. Menopause is definitely life changing.
I’ll be 50 with Stacey and dammit, I want to wear a princess dress!
two years late but i hope u found the princess dress of ur dreams
I'm 46 and I'm finally living out my full-on own style and I LOVE IT. Thank you, Stacy, for your awesome style and knowing it's okay to be yourself!
Wow! I just turned 48 and found this so inspiring. It’s refreshing to see someone embrace their age rather than fight against it. I love the new Stacy with no rules!

No need to apologize for What Not To Wear. It helped me learn that not all clothes are going to look good on me. It isn't me and my shape that's wrong - it's the clothes. THANK YOU!
5:02 an absolutely life-changing perspective. thank you.
I love this because when she was on the show I liked how they would bring style and fashion to people who didn’t believe in themselves but I didn’t like how they would take away someone’s style just because they didn’t like it or because it wasn’t modern. Like one episode they changed this woman’s look just because she only wore vintage clothing. Glad to know she doesn’t feel this way in real life.
Definately! If you are interested, you can listen to her full story on our podcast :on iTunes bit.ly/WUStyleA, Spotify spoti.fi/2l894E9 or Stitcher bit.ly/2HNthb1
BEAUTIFUL WORDS, GREAT ADVISE! YOU ARE A MENTOR AND AN AMAZING INSPIRING WOMAN!!!!
She needs to come full circle and talk with women about finding their truth, in fashion and life. Call it What TO wear and love yourself!
